Great visit to Turtle Bay Coventry. Jasmine gave brilliant service — friendly, welcoming, and really made the experience better. Food and drinks were spot on, but it was Jasmine’s approach that stood out and made the visit that much more enjoyable.
Turtle Bay Crawley. The restaurant was nearly empty and for about 40 minutes we were trying to get the waitress attention in order to get the bill. Portions became smaller and not that tasty anymore, no check back on the table, no service. Finally when we got the bill we supposed to get 20% blue light discount which I don’t think we did, because the waitress said she applied it but she didn’t gave us the bill and no receipt either. When I checked my bank account, I calculated the items I ordered and there wasn’t any discount. This is the last time we dine in Turtle Bay Crawley. Total disappointment.
Turtle Bay, Oxford. Our waitress was lovely but I have to say that both myself & my friends were very disappointed on how downhill the food has gone with both quality and quantity. It seems the portion sizes have got smaller despite the menu saying they are bigger plates & we were really disappointed that the menu has changed which is not for the better. Where has the Mac & Cheese dish gone which was one of my personal favourites, the jerk corn on the cob as well as Jerk Halloumi & Kingston Fried Chicken? I ended up having a jerk chicken breast which to me had a vinegar taste to it with the Mo'bay Mac, your menu states this is creamy & cheesy with melted cheese, what was served to me was dry and tasteless, could not taste the cheese at all & it certainly wasn't creamy, did not enjoy my food at all. My friend who is Vegan had hardly any choice to choose from & yet it was her that introduced me to the Turtle Bay chain of restaurants due to the choice she had, the rice and peas that she had was nothing more than microwave packet rice again with no taste, it did not have coconut milk, fresh thyme or scotch bonnet as your menu describes. Don't know why on earth you have changed the menu, the food is what used to make the place so inviting and why so many people returned. Everytime I went into one of your venues the place was heaving with people, however, on my recent visit there was only 3-4 tables of people including ours, now I know why! It goes back to the saying if it isn't broken don't fix it, which means that one should not attempt to change, correct, or improve something that is already working correctly. I can't see myself returning not unless the menu goes back to how it used to be, this goes for my friends as well. I'm so disappointed as this used to be one of my favourite places to visit, no matter what town.
I had a great time at Turtle Bay, Exeter, Alisha is an amazing bartender! She is friendly, welcoming, helpful and somehow has time for everyone even when it’s really busy. She gives great recommendations for cocktails & choices of rum & makes the whole experience really fun. Thank you 😁
It feels like the bar has taken over, and the kitchen's been left behind at Turtle Bay.We visited the York branch today and were really disappointed. The menu has clearly been cut back, and what’s served feels like the bare minimum: small bowls of reheated, pre-prepped food with overly rich, basic sauces, and sides like bland rice and peas or chips. I had to ask for a proper-sized bowl just to combine my meal. The wings were large and arrived suspiciously fast—tasty sauce, but nothing felt marinated or made with care. It all felt like a Caribbean-themed fast food chain—Jamaican McDonald's at best.No garnishes, no fresh slaw, no sign of anything cooked with real passion or attention. The magic Turtle Bay once had just isn’t there anymore.Menus across locations seem to have followed suit—Manchester’s is the same. The focus has clearly shifted to drinks and atmosphere, and the food has become an afterthought. My girlfriend couldn’t eat her meal—it was far spicier than described and upset her stomach. While our server apologised, no refund was offered. We regret not pushing for one.Even with a Unidays discount, the whole thing felt overpriced. We've happily paid more for great meals elsewhere, but this just felt like a cost-cutting exercise hiding behind a once-loved brand. The service was friendly, and the vibe was lively, especially for those there to drink. But sadly, we’ll be deleting the app and won’t return. It’s a real shame—rising costs seem to have gutted the food offering, and Turtle Bay appears to be coasting on its reputation, not its cooking. I hope things can improve.
