We’ve had a very disappointing experience with Twilio. Our account was hit by obvious SMS Toll Fraud, resulting in thousands of dollars of charges — including charges from a Twilio service (Authy) that we never enabled. Twilio’s own fraud protection tools (Fraud Guard, Geo Protection) failed to block any of the activity, and we had to stop the attack ourselves.Support has been slow, inconsistent, and often contradictory. Despite providing logs and evidence, we were given shifting explanations (from “SMS Toll Fraud” to “Account Takeover”), none of which actually address the root issue or explain how Authy charges were generated on our account. To make matters worse, our account was suddenly locked due to an unexplained –$1,600 balance that doesn’t appear anywhere in our billing history. Twilio has not been able to clarify where this number came from, yet requires it to be paid before they will even continue investigating. After this experience, we’re actively looking to migrate to another provider. Twilio’s fraud prevention and support processes have proven unreliable and costly.
do not even waste your time setting up the software . They have misc charges all over the place . a2p campaign took some time other than get set up once completed I had a question regarding the system so I can begin getting started I sent a ticket took 2 weeks to hear back and even then no answers . I cannot til this day get in contact with anyone over there so now I have to move forward with another software and start this whole process over again . A waste of my money a waste of my time and I'm truly pissed off that I spent so much time on this now I'm back at square one and for what .
Just trying to sign up for SendGrid so that I could link it with my new CRM for sending emails to customers. As others have said, right after signing up my account was instantly closed and banned. I literally did nothing but gave them my email and phone number and chose a password, and for whatever reason it was "determined that Twilio is not a good fit." I've been working with customer service, but they won't reactivate the account I never even signed into once and won't give me any reason. I understand that they can't divulge how their security measures work, otherwise spammers could circumvent them. But still... There's gotta be a better way. Frankly, I was pretty soured by the experience.
STEER AWAY from this company if you are a professional who doesn't want to waste time on nonsense!Unfortunately, there is no way for me to give a 0 star review. 1 star is an over-exaggeration to be honest.1. Company whose one of the main products is SMS delivery can't for the life of it deliver a 2FA verification SMS for their own service! I waited 2 full days in order to receive a single freaking SMS.2. Random errors logging in - do you need to log into your Twilio account? If you manage to gain access, good luck with an account management system that is just bizarre. Want to log into a service tied to your Twilio account (e.g. Sendgrid)? Good luck with super user friendly errors like "General error retrieving what type of user you are. Please try again in a few minutes." Need help getting into your account because errors are as useful as a kitchen appliance manual? Good luck getting in touch with a human.3. Sendgrid is ok but it used to be really good. Since the aquisition in 2019, it's now quite obvious that the influence of incompetency that plagues Twilio has gotten deeply under the skin of what used to be a really good product. UX is awful, subscription tiering system is subpar to say the least and the email delivery rate is seriously under the industry standard. We've been using Twilio's services for years now since migration to a competitor is always something you don't have time for but now, I will make sure that my team jumps ship from this madness ASAP. If anyone reading this is considering Twilio as an AIO delivery solution - I assure you it's the worst thing you will do for your enterprise, period. Oh and fyi, this is the only online review I have ever written in my life as I really feel that I'm obligated to warn the public about such an abomination of a service into whose trap you can easily fall in.
Twilio/Sendgrid removed the "single send" feature without any prior notification whatsoever and then asked us to pay for an account upgrade to get it back. This is a gross violation of their own terms of service:§ 2.4 Changes to the Services. You acknowledge that the features and functions of the Services may change over time; provided, however, Twilio will not materially decrease the overall functionality of the Services. It is your responsibility to ensure the Customer Services are compatible with the Services. Twilio endeavors to avoid changes to the Services that are not backwards compatible, however, if any such changes become necessary, Twilio will use commercially reasonable efforts to notify you at least sixty (60) days prior to implementation. In the event Twilio makes a non-backwards compatible change to certain Services and such change materially and negatively impacts your use of the Services (“Adverse Change”), (a) you will notify Twilio of the Adverse Change and (b) Twilio may agree to work with you to resolve or otherwise address the Adverse Change, except where Twilio, in its sole discretion, has determined that an Adverse Change is required for security reasons, by telecommunications providers, or to comply with applicable law or regulation.
They make the port-in process unnessarily complex and once you pass all the KYC and documentation submission, they port-in your number. And what happens next? Further compliance check asking the purpose of the account and historical usage of twilio although I didn't have an account - but they need an explanation for things don't exist. Then, they said you cannot open an account, leaving my number to port-in hanging. speechless........avoid. avoid. avoid.
