I used Urbansitter for four years when I was in college and am so thankful I did. I was able to work and spend time with some truly amazing kids, all while going to school full-time. I was also able to gain invaluable insight that has become essential to my current career - children's television.
Cant believe that UrbanSitter can have a sitter that wont share basic information needed to comply with IRS regulations and the company will do nothing to help. They HAVE all of the necessary information - if they did actually do a thorough background check. These are real families, with real kids, and their lack of transparency and willingness to help is uncanny. This sitter could have taken our kid and we couldn't even find anything about the sitter or where to go looking. This was a huge eye opener and lesson learned - stay away from this platform and vet others. At a minimum, a parent should receive basic information about the sitter before they arrive to your home. Don't make this mistake - request and require information about the sitter upfront and only use platforms that allow this type of communication.FYI - for those in the future, the only information needed, IMO, is a full name and Address. Urbansitter does not provide these basic details but want you to trust whoever comes to your house. Please beware.
This site is a Joke..I put myself on Urbansitter a few weeks ago and applied to at least 50 jobs at the minute they are posted and got no answers back. I have an excellent resume , I am CPR first aid certified, owned a little daycare and so on . But I have no reviews because I was never booked, so no parents can give their feedback. I paid the $25 fees for background check.. I really think this site scams babysitters. No real jobs or too many babysitters who apply so you will never get a job
I’ve been using UrbanSitter for about 8 years now and honestly it’s been a life saver! It’s easy to use, I’ve met and worked for hundreds of amazing families, and their team is super responsive and awesome whenever I need help with something or have an issue.
I like using urban sitter - it's so convenient in a pinch. A few times I've had sitters flake out -- they get sick and cancel with short notice or what have you -- but I've always managed to find a replacement here again when that happens. Every sitter we've met through here has been nice so far.
