I have UrbanSitter as a benefit from my company, after using this is the only way I would use it (when it’s free). First of all, they have many user issues with the app, when issues come up you can only email their customer service and mostly you will receive pre written responses that address zero of the issues you mentioned. The customer service will always blame the customer and not recognize the software failure.... then it can take from 3 hours to 3 days for a response. To make matters worse they wait 3 business days to pay your sitter even though you pay up front which is frustrating for all involved... to sum it up... mediocre app, worst customer service possible.
I have had the pleasure of being connected with UrbanSitter for a few yeas now. Getting started with US was very easy. It is very group to be connected with if you want to be a nanny/babysitter. I hooked up with them for the purpose of being a nanny. Since I have been with them they have sent me several leads for which I have been fortunate to procure lovely families. I enjoy been a nanny because I can then be with a child for a good period of time before the child is placed in a preschool. Then I still get to care for the child as a babysitter and that keeps me nice and busy and especially connected to the child. More about UrbanSitter: I receive several leads to select from so there is no shortage of clients to select from. If there is any problem with a client of the web site, they are quick to handle and with a lot of affinity. I am so happy I discovered this company.
I started using Urbansitter back in 2012 when I was an undergraduate college student. I had a very positive experience with the company throughout my 3 years on the site. I baby-sat for well over 30 families and found 2 consistent nannying gigs that helped me support myself through college. I had great experiences with almost all the families that I worked with and Urbansitter made it especially easy to connect with many different groups. I appreciated that I could interview and book with different families through the site as well as take credit card payments. Without urbansitter I wouldn't have met some of the wonderful kids that I got to help nurture and learn from. It also led me into working as a preschool teacher for a year. Thanks Urbansitter!
As a very experienced sitter/nanny, I can highly recommend Urbansitter. They have many safety recommendations along the way as you decide who you want to work with. You can add a lot of detail in your profile and video to showcase your experience and education regarding children. It has a calendar and payment features included in the app. I’ve asked several questions about varied topics and they’ve always answered promptly and respectfully! They also give frequent updates regarding current events (such as the current popular virus) and how to protect yourself and the families you serve. Give them a try and don’t be afraid to ask questions, look up reviews on google and YouTube, and generally explore the app thoroughly to familiarize yourself with how it works.
When I was in college I used UrbanSitter a lot to pick up date night jobs during the weekend and even got a regular mother’s helper job during the week after classes. It was a great way to make extra money completely on my own schedule. You can set your availability for certain days and parents can book you, or you can look at posted jobs and apply for them. I met so many nice families and explored different parts of the city I may have never visited! When you set up your profile, definitely add a video and get reviews from past employers and other parents so you can start off with 5-Star reviews. I’ve seen other sitters complain but honestly if you do a great job babysitting and are professional and reliable (don’t no-show!) you shouldn’t have a problem and you’ll find so much benefit in UrbanSitter. Everyone at support has been helpful too with jobs and payments. I highly recommend you give it a try!!!
