To me VSP is just NOT worth it

To me VSP is just not worth it, at least if you're buying a plan yourself. Not sure if benefits are better if you get this from an employee. They show you all of the benefits on their site, but in those they do not tell you those are all "in network" benefits. You must go "in network" which again was not shown in the initial offering, nor when I spoke to them on the phone. What I also found is that if you go "in network" both eye exams and glasses are more expensive than let's say a Costco retail place. So will they cover more for their "in network" stores? yes, but the prices for both exams and glasses are much more too. We are talking $150 exam at Costco vs $250 for one of their paticipating ODs. Same for glasses. Costco offers a lot of the additional coatings and lens types already built into their cost. It is much cheaper than a regular optical. Your out of pocket cost will be a lot higher, even if you go "in network". So when I went to Costco and got an eye exam from an OD, they only covered part of that, not the full allowance. Then I got a pair of Oakley prescription glasses, again they only cover part of that, not the full allowance. So once I was all done, I have overpaid by over $100. I got zero benefits from VSP, other than them getting an extra $100 from me. It would have been cheaper for me to just do everything directly with Costco for $400. If you are considering VSP, I encourage you to ask them the questions for coverage "in network" vs "out of network" and get estimates from your OD and optical place before purchasing that insurance. Again, from my experience it is not worth getting at all. Feels more like a bait and switch to me.

horrible service

horrible service - i work for medical insurance group - tried to get the member to VSP vision since they handle the members vision services - i got agent with name of Heidi on line - worst rep ever - did not want to do there job - told reason why member is being transferred and was giving push back about it being medical vision questions over vision services thru optometry - wanted me to have member conferenced in when i knew agent did not want to do their job - when i get back to member to let them know we will be conferenced in - the agent hung up - very frustrating for my self and the member with horrible customer service - that would never be the case in my area - would get in huge trouble - if that service is permissible then work ethic needs to change /

VSP seems like a scam

VSP seems like a scam. I have them through my employer and that is the only reason I would ever engage with them. Their website is terrible, and every time I try to login it claims I never set up my account. I then have to change my password and I am sent an "authorization email" which takes me to a link that I then have to login again and enter the code from the email, which takes me to a page that tells me they have sent me an "authorization email" and I get stuck in the circle for about 5 attempts. When I finally login (and I am not always successful at breaking the circle) I submitted a reimbursement claim, which they never paid, despite them claiming they did. A complete scam.

This company takes 3 minutes to sell…

This company takes 3 minutes to sell you a policy, but endless hoops to cancel. They automatically renew your policy without your permission. They sent me a sales e-mail to “act quickly” to get coverage by March 1. When I tried to confirm by e-mail that I did not want coverage, they told me to call to cancel. They gave me the wrong number. When I called to cancel, they told me I had to call in February. After more than an hour and talking to 4 people, I finally got someone to say they would cancel the policy, but I still have doubts as to whether or not this will happen. Just don’t!

Do not sign up with these crooks

VSP used to be good. Most horrible experience ever. When i signed up online their site glitched and messed up my start date and charged me the wrong amount. So i called in and a rep said she would cancel that account and enter a new account and credit the first charge in 3-5 days. I was charged for 3 months up front. Now it is over 2 weeks later and no credit yet. When i call in to the automated AI bot, the bot can not even find an account for me despite me paying VSP for 3 months up front. Run fast from this corrupt insurance. I am getting ready to put a dispute in to my corrupt credit card company which is just as bad as VSP.

I called for an insurance plan & I was…

I called for an insurance plan & I was thorough about the plan I needed. They signed me up for the wrong plan. I called right back n they said i’d get a refund in 7-10 days..10 days later I follow up they now say 10-14 business days. I wait and call back they said it was never processed & I will recieve a refund in 24-48 hours. I immediately get a email saying my refund will process minus any fees in up to 30 days. I wait 48 hours n call back n they said they refunded my money minus a $5 enrollment fee…Also they said they refunded my money n I checked n it’s not there. I told them that n they said take it up with my bank, it’s not their fault that it’s not showing up in my bank cause in their system it’s already refunded….Now they say I have to email them separate than my initial request my $5 refund. These people are crooks. Their entire system is designed to rip people off. Specially those who forget or don’t follow up..smh..this is a company full of con artists.

Another company running a membership…

Another company running a membership cancellation racket. You need to call them back within 30 days of your future renewal date in order to cancel your account. This causes them to make MORE money because people have a life and forget to call back. You will spend more money using VSP then just buying your eyeglasses from direct places like eyebuydirect.com and others.

Paying twice for same plan

I noticed last month I was charged twice for my plan. Somehow I was signed up for the same plan twice. I called them about this last month. They apologized, supposedly canceled the second plan and refunded me. It’s the next month and here we are again with the same problem. I’m still signed up for the same plan twice and I’m still being double charged. Ridiculous.
