I am genuinely shocked that Zopa is operating as a bank. I recently asked a friend to lend me money so I could take my wife to an important appointment. She transferred the funds immediately, but the amount never appeared in my Zopa account. When I contacted customer service, I was advised to wait up to eight working days. I explained the urgency of the situation, but nothing was done to help.Due to this delay, I had no choice but to cancel my wife’s appointment and pay a non-refundable cancellation fee. To check whether my account was even functioning, I transferred money from another one of my own accounts—and it took almost 10 hours to appear.I then attempted to close my account entirely, but Zopa placed a restriction on it, leaving me unable to access or withdraw anything. When I asked the customer service team for a complaint reference number, they simply refused and told me to “call back” for updates, with no timeline or assurance.If you want your money to get stuck, lose valuable time, and deal with unhelpful support, then Zopa is highly recommended. Otherwise, save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.
My card was hacked through no fought of my own 4 times!! I’ve tried to close my account 3 times with no success and then had someone hack it again ! Even though every time I followed the advice given, changed the card, details and everything !! I would not trust this company with your credit ! The customer service team are always polite and helpful but something, somewhere along the line is always going wrong !! Do not open an account with this company
Too Good to be trueSeemed good to start with. Zopa seem to have their own version of T&Cs which they don't share with you.For the 3rd month in a row, they have applied to take my direct debit a full TEN days before the due date. This then triggers a £12 fee as I set up the direct debit date for a reason (first Monday of each month).This is the only company I know who tries to take the money ten days before the actual debit date. A nice little scam.Really unhappy.
