Went to hospital with Heart failure and AF. From being a very health person To ending up in hospital and having to cancel my travel has been a night mare. A letter from hospital and GP. Also relevant documents sent. I am sure they are hoping I will die from the stress they have caused. That way they won’t pay me. Don’t use this company.
1Cover does everything they can to avoid paying out on policies.The lengths they have gone to to save a few hundred dollars is actually incredible. The irony is that they have spent more money in resources, losing customer loyalty and gaining a tonne of negative online reviews in the process. They have incompetent staff who make 'mistakes' (always in their own favour). They do not do what is legally bound in their policy. I have a trust level of 0 out of 100 of them covering anything in the future. I currently have a dispute filed with the AFCA and i suggest others to do them same
I've been using 1Cover for over 10 years and had never made a claim. Their prices have always been competitive and the cover on offer more than enough. However, last month on our trip to Bali, my friend came off her scooter. It was really scary to witness and I would have been helpless without 1Cover. They were amazing from the moment I called them.Because my friend was only wearing a short dress and thongs, she ended up in hospital with a broken leg, burns on her foot and calf and severe grazing. It coud have been so much worse.The 1Cover staff were extremely helpful in advising us on what to do, and arranged a business class flight back which was all paid for. I can't thank them enough.
You take out insurance for peace of mind hoping never to use it, but hoping if you do the insurance company will be fair and reasonable. 1Cover were not. We had to cancel our trip due to my wife having a serious accident. They initially 'accepted' our claim however after that point the whole experience was a long, drawn out and very frustrating. 1Cover seem to set out to make the process as difficult as possible. It took nearly two months and many, many emails to settle matters. No-one answers their phone or returns your call. You ask them to call and discuss matters and they won't. There's just an anonymous email exchange from agents that seems to push back on not paying legitimate claims, where costs were non-refundable and supported by receipts and documented evidence. It seemed clear they were intent on finding any reason not to pay out on our full claim and hope you would just accept a partial payout. Would not recommend and will never use them again
We always take out travel insurance for 20 years l have gone with 1 cover never had a claim. This year we traveled to New Caledonia ,we arrived day the riots commenced , we provided 1 cover with footage of us in our van surrounded by Rioters and fires blocking our way through. We got to our hotel where we were put in lock down for 10 days no leaving the hotel limited food . on stand by to be evacuated by the army back to Australia, 1 cover declined our claim ever part of our claim . The other 22 couples we meet while in lock down insured with other companies have all been paid and settled their claims with in 2 weeks of claim . Our claim was declined for exactly the same claims as theirs.
If you are an immigrant, i.e. have families or relatives outside of NZ and AU - please DO NOT use 1 Cover. if there is a family emergency back in your home country or you need to stop your travel to go to another country for the said emergency - your travel insurance will not cover for any costs arising from cancellation of your holiday. It is really bad no matter how closely you are related to someone or whatever the said incident/ accident is - you are not covered.
AVOID!!!Had to return home urgently due to a medical reason and only claimed for accommodation losses as I was in pain and couldn’t deal with claiming everything else. They gave me a run around for 7 weeks continually asking for extra information. I had to go to the doctor on 3 different occasions at $85 per visit just to get a new piece of information each time. They finally approved the claim and halved the amount because the booking made for 2 people even though it was only me staying. When booking through booking.com I enter 1 person and it always puts the booking through as 2. 1cover are absolute scum and I will never be using them again after 15 years of only using them.
I am forever indebted to 1Cover. Thank you for being there for me and my family in our darkest hours. I almost lost the love of my life and I can't speak highly enough of the responsiveness and reassurance that the 1Cover emergency team provided.
Claim denied after my boss died and I had to get back to make sure the company continued and I still had an income. i.e. Trip cancelled for unforseen reasons beyond anyone's control. And now looking at the array of "We will not pay for" clauses I would say there's more excluded than covered.
