I thought Afterpay would have a vetting process for the businesses it partners with, but turns out they don’t. Purchased what were meant to be bamboo sheets from Adorearth, and what they sent me were microfibre sheets you can buy from Amazon for $100+ less.
Contacted the seller requesting a refund and received no response, so lodged a dispute with Afterpay. The seller insisted to them that they sent me bamboo sheets and that I could return them (still haven’t responded to my email). Afterpay then closed the dispute when I provided evidence of this happening not just to me but other people too, because they’re only concerned that the seller said I received a product, doesn’t matter if it’s the product I ordered or not.
Afterpay is paid by the businesses that use it, so there’s no incentive for them to try and avoid working with scam companies that mislead their customers and use false advertising. I have closed my account and won’t use them again due to their lack of customer care and focus.
I had an Afterpay account and was only the beginning. I had some issues with my bank card and hence couldn’t have the sum paid that night and so it went in the very next morning early,, I reached out to AP support but no one got back to me in time and then charged me an additional 10$ that I paid post that a AP customer service team reached out asking for detail and later had charged me again another 10$ without coming to a final conclusion. I felt unheard and robbed . Yes I paid the other 10$ , beware of how they communicate- they don’t respond on time and charge you the money while making you think they’re investigating your situation.
Not a pleasant experience- I recommend zip pay anyday.
AFTERPAY has really been an essential tool in allowing me to access items while still paying for them and then rewards me with more abilities for keeping my payments. I love it
Update: In response to the service addressing my earlier feedback, I provided proof that the seller had not met its obligations (only one item was set to be shipped) and I had requested a refund for the other item due to extended stock delays. However, the service sided with the seller, claiming they had fulfilled their duties, and simply closed my dispute without any communication or opportunity for me to respond. It seems they didn’t even review my case thoroughly. This service has been a major letdown. I won't be using them again. I filed a dispute a week ago, and so far, there has been no communication, no updates, and no one to contact. I might need to reconsider using this service for online purchases, as other platforms are much more responsive and reliable.
I am extremely frustrated with the service. Despite being a long-time customer and spending a significant amount of money, there seems to be no loyalty or support when issues arise. It's baffling that they would prioritize such a minor amount over customer satisfaction. Additionally, their payment policies are misleading, as they collect more upfront and handle refunds poorly. My disputes are closed almost immediately without thorough investigation, leading me to believe that they either don't care or are simply lazy. I have stopped reaching out for help because it feels pointless. It's disappointing that they don't value their customers or understand the importance of good customer relations. I could escalate the matter through my bank, but it seems they are more concerned about their profits than maintaining a good reputation. Overall, this experience has been quite disheartening.

I've realized that the service seems to be linked with scammers in a situation resembling money laundering, where the service pays the scammers and then demands repayment from the affected consumer. This results in the service collecting funds from the consumer, which could potentially harm their credit.
I had been using the service for over three years without missing a payment, so it's shocking how poorly they treat their customers! I accidentally set a preferred payment date to Sundays, which caused issues with my payment schedule. After noticing this with two recent orders, I reached out for help to fix it and reschedule my payments every two weeks. They made the changes, but later I removed the preferred date. When I tried to use the service again, I found my account frozen. After contacting customer support, I was told it was frozen because I had requested to reschedule my payments three times. I explained that my last two requests were solely to address the strange payment schedule, but they didn't seem to understand. I spent over an hour on the phone, only to be told they couldn't assist me and that I kept requesting to reschedule. It felt like they were reading from a script and not truly listening. If you make an honest mistake like I did, be prepared for your account to be frozen without reason. I've never experienced such poor treatment from a company before. I'm still waiting for a supervisor's call, but I doubt it will happen!
I appreciate the payment setup that the service provides. However, I wish that when placing an order from another company through this service, they could offer refunds if the package is not delivered. That's my main concern.
