I was charged for a repair under the clear impression that the payment would resolve the issue with my fridge. That is the reasonable expectation when a consumer pays for a diagnosis and repair service. Unfortunately, that is not what occurred.

The service performed did not address the actual problem. I have now been informed that the part I paid to have repaired needs to be fully replaced. Had I been accurately advised of this from the outset, including the true nature of the issue and the cost of replacement, I would have made a different and more informed decision.

Consumers are entitled to rely on the representations made by service providers. Under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002, providing misleading or incomplete information about the nature of a repair or the necessity of additional costs may give rise to responsibility.

It is unreasonable for a consumer to pay for a repair that does not resolve the issue, only to then be told that the true solution is the replacement of the same component.

I gave them the opportunity to refund for the fake repair and charge me only for the diagnostics but they simply said too bad you signed the invoice and refused.

On Fed-16-2026 in Brampton
I called "The A Team Appliance Repair" for my Samsung Fridge service.
Booking person told me very clearly that its $80+tax which includes diagnosis with report. And after diagnosis if any fix required that would be separate amount (labor+parts). So, I booked the service.
Technician named Prince (not a real name) came to my place in 2 to 3 hours in an unofficial old car and to me he doesn’t look like licence technician or knowledgeable person, later he told me 290+tax is the diagnosis fees and $80+tax is just booking fee (for visiting my house). So I told him your team has provide me false information and quote at very first. I was not agreed to pay such a high diagnosis fees, and told him to leave.
Technician didn't perform any kind of diagnosis or even look to my appliance and told me to pay $80+tax which I refused as I was not aware about this hidden or scam fees. I feel I got scammed. Later Technician threatened me if I don’t pay the fees (that is $80+tax) then they will send it to the collection department.
I called Ontario Consumer Protection to help me out and initiated case.

Don't bother with them, they're scammers. They told us $80 to check my appliance but since we were first time customer it would be $50. Once the rude tech came in, he opened the fridge, stuck his head in, and tells me that he needs to check the coolant and inside the fridge. I'm thinking yes that's why we called you) then he tells me that to do so is $320 to be paid up front! I told him I will not pay that exorbitant amount 320+80, nor would I pay up front for work that isn't yet done. He threatened to send me to collections for the $80, I said go ahead and leave my house.customer service on the phone refused to help when I called her to complaint.

Appliance Repair Team charged us 360 dollars to “service” our dryer, but the work actually done was minimal and did not match what was described.
What happened
• Our dryer stopped heating, so we booked a service call with Appliance Repair Team.
• The technician told us he had removed the drum, fully serviced the unit, and found a faulty part that justified the 360 dollar bill.
• After he left, I inspected the dryer and could clearly see that the front of the unit had never been opened and the interior was still covered in thick, undisturbed lint, including in areas that would have had to be accessed if the drum had really been removed (see photos).
• From start to finish, the visit lasted about 40 minutes, and that time included our conversation at the beginning and end, so the actual work time was even shorter.
• When I called the company’s main line to question the invoice, they repeated that the machine had been serviced, even after I explained that only the back panel had been opened and a photo taken.
My impression
For 360 dollars, all we received was a quick look through the back panel and a picture of the inside, not the thorough diagnostic and repair that were described. In my view, the technician’s account of what he did was very different from what was actually done, and the company did not take my concerns seriously when I followed up. I would not use Appliance Repair Team again and cannot recommend them to others.

Total scam. Came out $80 feet then another $280 for service call then told needed mother board for $1225. Ordered the part only to have him come back and say I needed another board for $ 675. So I was out $1200. Currently with my credit card company to have the charges reversed. Stay clear from these scam artists. They show up in their own car. The government should put them out of business and not renew their license. Stay far far away from them

I contacted them last week and scheduled a technician to come to my home to address several issues. When the technician arrived, I explained my concerns:

My dishwasher is unstable. When I open the door, the top drawer slides out quickly, which is unsafe.
The warming drawer of my stove does not fully close—something is obstructing it.
I recently had a hood installed, but it is the wrong size and hangs too low. I was hoping for advice on how to correct this issue.

The technician was very polite and professional. He began with the dishwasher and explained that it had been poorly installed and was missing parts. He improvised by placing a thin cutting board underneath to balance it and secured it with two screws from his bag. He mentioned that proper brackets would cost $690 but assured me that the screws would do the same job.

For the hood, he said it was not within his scope and suggested I ask at Home Depot.

For the warming drawer, he advised me to contact Costco or LG.

I paid $250 + HST for the service. However, within less than a week, one of the screws he installed on the dishwasher had already fallen out (Picture Below). When I called customer service, I was told no help could be offered, despite the technician assuring me that I had a one-month warranty on his work.

I feel very disappointed. I reached out to a local business for help, paid nearly $300, and unfortunately, none of the three issues were resolved. I relied on their expertise, but instead I was left with the same problems and additional cost.

What a scammer. I called this appliance service company because my washing machine was making a loud noise during the wash cycle. On the phone, the girl named Subani clearly told me it would cost $80 for the technician to come out, diagnose the issue, and then let me know the repair cost. She also said the technician would bring basic parts, and that parts would be extra. Fair enough—I agreed and booked the appointment.
That’s where the problems started.
🚩 Red Flag #1: Technician Arrived an Hour Early
The technician showed up one hour earlier than the scheduled appointment. That’s already unprofessional and shows they don’t respect their own schedule.
🚩 Red Flag #2: Technician Refused to Give His Real Name
When I asked for his name, he said “Gerry.” I can guarantee that’s not the name on his driver’s license. Very suspicious behavior for someone entering your home.
🚩 Red Flag #3: He Didn’t Even Know How to Operate the Machine
I had already recorded videos of the noise and showed them to him immediately. Instead of using that, he insisted on running the machine again—fine. But after hearing the noise once, he didn’t diagnose anything, didn’t open anything, didn’t test anything.
🚩 Red Flag #4: Instant Invoice for $270 Without Doing Any Work
Without touching the machine, he started writing an invoice and told me the labor charge would be $270, and parts would be extra.
When I asked whether the repair would be included in that $270, he said he wasn’t sure and would only know after he opened the machine.
How can you quote a labor charge before diagnosing anything? Especially when I already showed him the exact sound and video.
This is classic scam behavior.
🚩 Red Flag #5: BBB Rating Says It All
No wonder this company has an F rating on the BBB. Their business model seems to be overcharging, misleading customers, and providing zero transparency.
💬 Final Verdict
This company is a scam, plain and simple. They lure you in with an $80 “diagnostic fee,” then try to hit you with a $270 labor charge before even doing any diagnostics. The technician was unprofessional, evasive, and clearly not trained.
Please stay far away from this appliance repair company. Save your time, money, and frustration.

contacted Appliance Repair Team regarding an issue with my dishwasher. I explained upfront that the problem was likely a faulty drain pump, a bad valve, or a blockage. They told me they could send a technician and that there would be an $80 service fee, which would be applied toward the labor if I chose to proceed. When I asked what their typical labor costs were, they said they couldn’t provide that information. I still agreed.
Two days later, a technician arrived and quoted $280 for labor. He emphasized multiple times that if I paid the $280, I would not be charged for labor again—even if he had to return for additional visits. I agreed, paid the $280 + tax, and he inspected the dishwasher.
After checking the unit, he told me the drain pump was faulty and needed replacement. He called his office for the price of the part and then told me it would cost $280. I was surprised because I had already researched the part online and knew it typically sold for around $40–$50. I told him not to order the part.
To confirm, I called Bosch Canada directly and learned the part was indeed about $50, with shipping costing an additional $10–$15. I then called Appliance Repair Team’s office to ask why their quote was $280. They claimed the difference was for “installation,” which made no sense because their technician had repeatedly told me future labor was already covered. When I asked how installation was different from parts and labor, they couldn’t give me a clear answer.
In the end, I hired a different technician. He inspected the pump, found it wasn’t faulty at all—just blocked by some debris—cleaned the impeller, and fixed the entire problem for $80.
The lesson: be cautious. In my experience, their pricing structure was unclear, the technician’s assessment was incorrect, and the explanations were inconsistent. I felt misled, and the issue could have been resolved easily without the unnecessary upsell.
