Didn’t get what we wanted

We have been customers of champion window and patio door owners. The first go-around was great. the second time we needed to replace one of our windows to fit something. We were told that they could make us a special insert, but needed to change the style of the window. They installed the window and forgot the insert. Come to find out they never ordered it. Months later they came with a window sash and not an insert. Months later and many calls to our rep who said he would call every week to check in and never did, and many calls to champion, he finally calls back and says all they can do is a cheap fix. Oh and not to mention that when they installed the replacement window, they damaged our brand-new siding. They would not let the siding company fix it and pay for it. They wanted to fix it which would void the warranty of the siding. I have now called and called to get the rest of the window and you guessed it......no response. When I look at other reviews champion says to call their main number and talk to them. Yep, tried that, you get the same people. They are wanting me to pay a big amount for a cheep fix to complete project. Ask me if I'm going to recommend Champion to anyone?......Still waiting for a call back.

Justin was very professional

Justin was very professional, educational on Champion windows,& listened to his clients. Originally we were going with another company until they could not accommodate our windows needs. Champion windows could accommodate our windows needs and give us a better price too.Amy

terrible company

terrible company. Raised the price by $3000 6 weeks after taking and DEPOSITING my down payment. The person who called me, supposedly the project manager. was also very rude and sounded as if he didn't give a DAMN if I went ahead or not with the job. I would NOT recommend them to anyone

Call Champion for quality work …

This is our second experience with Champion. We had a sunroom installed 20 yrs ago. It’s our favorite room! We need a new patio door at another property so called Champion. I met with Ladd today. He was very pleasant and thoroughly explained our options and cost. We know Champion and Ladd will make sure we are satisfied with our new door!

repair requested for a shattered french…

repair requested for a shattered french door on April 7. Heard nothing for 1 week so I called. Was told that it would be 6-8 weeks for the windows to come in, but she (Kristen) would put it in as an urgent/rush request. I heard nothing from them for several weeks so I called in the beginning of May to check on the status of my "urgent/rush" repair. I got the same response as the 1st time I called. I have called weekly since then and sometimes I get to talk to an agent, who usually has no answers, or I am forced to leave a message, which usually results in no answers either. I have NEVER had a return phone call. I was told by Kristen on May 25th that my glass would be ready on June 6. I called on June 7th and spoke to an agent explaining my issue, she put me on hold and came back and said the person I needed to speak to (Kristen) was not answering her phone but she would put a ticket in for a return call within 24hrs. Never heard from her. I called back and asked to speak to Kristens supervisor. She didn't answer her phone either so another ticket was put in for a return call which didn't happen either. Called again today, no answer at the service department, forced to leave a message. Called back and hit #1 and got a live person immediately. I asked to speak to a supervisor in the service department and he (Adam) said he would transfer me to them. I got the same recording and hung up after 10 minutes. Its very sad that this company only cares about new sales and not the existing customer. Its been 9 weeks now since my request was put in,. This company makes glass every single day, its what they do, how can they be such a failure at it?

Horrible from installation to not even finished!

I would not repeat my purchase with Champion again. From terrible installation, to a project manager that manages nothing, and a company that deflects and refuses to make things correct or compensate me for the endless amount of time I have had to manage my own project! This has been a horrific experience that 10 months later is still not resolved with two broken windows, a house that isn’t really warmer, windows that do not open easily, and locks that are difficult to get lined up and closed. My home was in need of total window replacement. Twenty windows. Such a pretty penny. Windows were ready to go in ahead of schedule which was a great surprise. But turns out Champion contracted with installers that were in the process of being let go for poor workmanship. These are the people they had complete my house project who they knew they were dissolving their relationship with! Two broken windows, air leaking through, improperly wrapped, and atrocious appearance of the windows and Champion is on the phone within 24 hours of horrific job, asking for final payment and completion paperwork to be signed. No final inspection of their contracted work prior to requesting payment. No questions about how things look and if the windows were properly installed. The project “manager”, John (ask for someone different to manage your job) never comes to inspect the “completed” work with contractors they are having issues with and later admits that they are no longer using this installation company due to poor workmanship. John, with Champion, states they will have someone out to fix the problems in the next 2-3 weeks. But then radio silence! No one calls! 2.5 months later, I finally hear from the corporate office in Ohio asking ME about the status of the job. Asking me basically to manage my own window installation project because no one in the local office can be bothered to call me! Total lack of communication. No one calls for weeks and even months at a time! Please tell me what a project manager is supposed to be doing and paid for? After the local office finally contacts me MONTHS later, I explain the wind is still blowing into the house through the windows and the wrap was put on incorrectly, they stated a different contractor will be out to address the problem. I asked for the insulation to be looked at as it was obvious that it was not done correctly by the original contractors. I was told the new contractors would do this. When I returned home after new wrap had finally been placed more than a month later, it certainly looked better until 3 days later wind ripped the poorly applied, second attempt wrap off the windows and it was apparent that no inspection of the insulation was done because new wrap was just layered over the last incorrectly placed wrap. Nothing like a company that lies to you over and over again, as no one would have been able to inspect the insulation through the first layer of metal wrap! After having the wrap removed AGAIN and insulation “inspected”, I asked for the broken windows to be replaced. Though I had been assured the windows had been ordered 2 months ago, they needed to return to get the number from the windows because once again I was lied to and the windows had not been ordered. So here it is 10 months later, the job is not complete, the local office feels the delay in the job is all cosmetic and needs no compensation and if I could do it all over again, I would go with a different company. I suspect the outside appearance would look better, the inside of the house would be warmer, the locks would be smooth, the broken windows replaced already, and the opening of the windows would be smooth and uniform. Instead I’m stuck with windows from Champion with a company that doesn’t stand up for their work, delays for an additional 8 months, deflects blame on the customer, and wonders why compensation for an overall HORRIBLE experience would be necessary. Buyer beware, your project will be a headache too and my story isn’t even finished almost a year later!

No Responsibility

I signed a contract for 13 new windows at my residence on 3/11/2022. The sales person, Greg Walfield, was very informative during the process. While he was at my residence doing the initial consult, I told him we wanted all of our windows to match our current interior trim and did not want to mess with the trim at all. We had several other window companies come out whose bids were $10K-15K more than what Champion Windows had estimated and this is because those companies were telling us it was required to install new trim/casings on all the windows. Greg presented a bid for $25,700 which was far under the other companies and for a better-quality window. I asked Greg multiple times if our interior trim would need to be redone because of the new windows. Greg ensured me several times the interior trim would not need to be done and during a “Critical Measure” they would be able to correctly measure and set the windows to match the trim. The contract stated Champion Windows would order and install 13 new windows and “price includes all discounts and tax. Manager to determine method of install. Final payment due at completion. Champion to do exterior trim on all windows”. I signed the contract and waited a couple weeks for the “Critical Measure”. When I signed the contract, I placed a down payment of $8,750 for the project and applied for financing using Champion Windows financing company of choice. The measurements took place and nothing was presented to me regarding the actual measurements or if anything had come up regarding the size of the windows in relation to the interior trim. I waited three more months for the install and during this time I did not receive any calls regarding any window size discrepancies, which would later be presented to me after install. On 6/8/2022 and 6/9/2022, the installation team with Champion Windows arrived and began the installation process. The contractors were professional and very concerned after they replaced 5 of the windows. I was approached by the install contractor who showed be the issue with the windows. He showed me the windows are not matching up to the interior trim, which is leaving a 2-6-inch gap between the window and the interior trim. The installer told me he was given instructions by his manager to put fill blocks, consisting of small pieces of white MDF, into the gaps. The installer then told me I could have the windows pushed-in, but he does not recommend that because this would void the warranty and potentially cause water and other moisture/seal issues. The installer then offered to petition his manager to get new trim installed on the windows affected (8 total), at no charge since this was an issue which should have been addressed at the time of sale or during the “Critical Measure”. I informed the installer to continue installing the windows correctly per the Champion Windows installation guidelines and I would wait to be contacted by the Installation Manager Rod, with what is going to be done. After the installation was complete on the final day, the installer approached me and said he would not have me sign any final paperwork because he does not believe the job is complete, due to the trim issue, and he has never seen something like this that was not caught during the measurement phase. I was then called by the Installation Manager, Rod, who told me Champion Windows would not be installing new trim around any of the affected windows because it was not in the contract to do so. Rod informed me if I wanted the trim done, he would “give me a deal” and charge me $4,500 to have the trim redone (new casing/trim). Rod made sure he told me that was a “really good deal” because they charge “normal people” upwards of $10,000 for what I am needing done. Rod told me the only other option was to use the “fill & block” technique on the window trim, which in short is using small pieces of fill wood (MDF) to fill in the gaps along the trim. This would cause a mismatched trim. I told Rod my trim was in perfect shape prior to the install and I had discussed with sales that I did not want the interior trim messed with and I wanted the windows to match the trim, Rod told me it wasn’t his problem and it was not in the contract to do interior trim, so he was not responsible for any of the repairs. I attempted to escalate my issue but was met with hostility from Rod, saying nothing in the contract states interior trim needed to be done and I needed to pay for the remainder of the work. I continued to try and escalate this issue through the company but was met with nothing but hostility and each individual I spoke with placed blame onto me, telling me I should have known the trim would have needed replacement because of the way the existing windows had been installed. I have avoided posting on public forums until now, it is now September.

Missing Window Order since 9/21/2021

We ordered 21 windows 9/21/21 they told us 12-14 weeks before install but were not installed until 3/3/22. Then 8 of our 21 windows were made incorrectly! They were made the wrong size for some shape for others and our bathroom windows weren't tempered. So now I am still waiting on even an ANSWER from Champion on when they would be fixed. NO reply even from the number they put below. They promise call backs and I don't get them. Also the guy that came to remeasure the windows told our installers that this was going to make them loose money and couldn't they just make the work! Thankfully the independent contractors for our install have some integrity and said NOOOOOOO! So now I am left with my house unfinished and NO answers.**Update 6/7/22 - Still have NO windows and no answers. Keep being told someone will call us back and HUGE surprise.... NOTHING.
