Review Time
I spoke to the guys in the technical dept regarding a door problem .. we went through the issue and the guys took their time to go through the repair options .They also organised sending out the repair parts which arrived the following day which was brilliant and I managed to do the repair today .So thanks to Bob and Mark for their time and guidance the stove will be working again this evening.
Visited and then purchased stove from Knights in Marshfield who were very helpful. Originally decided on the Arc 5 but after checking up on installation requirements settled on the Skye 5 with stand because it is slightly (6cm) less front to back and met the hearth depth limit. The printed brochure is confusing as although both stoves are rated nominally as 5 kw the Arc kw range is higher. I checked this with Charnwood customer service who reassured me that the Skye would be adequate which is what I have found. The stove is more reluctant to fire up than the stove we had before but once it gets going it is fine. It seems to deliver more heat at floor level and keeps feet very toasty. Very pleased with purchase and choice.
This is the second Charnwood Aire 5 Stove we have bought. It is an outstanding stove . It looks very modern ,has a large glass to view the fire and is very efficient. This is also the second time we have used The Woodburning Centre in Drimoleague Co. Cork. As we said previously this company is superb in every regard. The service and installation are second to none. Every effort was made by the company to accommodate what we wanted. We had a fireplace which we wanted assembled around the stove. The fitter (Lewys) did a very impressive job on this. He was intent on ensuring the fireplace and stove were installed as effectively and as attractively as possible. He did this with no fuss. We are once again delighted with this company and the Charnwood Aire 5. We highly recommend the Woodburning Centre in Drimoleague and the Charnwood Aire 5.
Our Charnwood Aire 5 has now been up and running for a week, and we’ve turned the central heating down by a good few degrees. A functional appliance which is also very visually attractive, almost hypnotic in fact when lit. It’s really good to know that products are still being manufactured in the UK (and as a bonus in one of our favourite parts of it) which stand comparison with anything manufactured elsewhere in the world. The maker’s confidence in their product is demonstrated by a long and comprehensive warranty. Very pleased indeed with our choice - of manufacturer, dealer R W Knight of Marshfield, and installer Deane Thomas and Gary Williams of Nu Flu, Chippenham.
The Aire 3 is a very good-looking stove, looks cosy and fits snugly into the opening. The fuel box of the Aire 3 is just too small to generate a reasonable amount of heat in the room. Only very small logs can be used; larger logs disrupt the airflow system. The quick buildup of ash stifles the fire. With only one retainer bar, logs fall out onto the hearth floor. I use the ash retainer accessory as a log retainer. The stove is light, so when you close the door, it can push it back against the wall. The stove handle can get very hot. I have three Charnwood stoves installed in my house, but I would not fit the Aire 3 again. To be fair, I was limited for space and the Aire 3 was recommended, but there must be better small stove options on the market.
All the purchasing was made by our installer but I am very impressed by the stove's efficiency and design. Fits the space in the room perfectly and is unobtrusive. The stove is well made and sturdy and is great value for what it cost.
