I rang EconomyBooking.com rather than book on line 2 months before I was travelling to ensure I would get the vehicle I ordered as we were 6 persons with 6 Golf bags and 6 cases. I needed the biggest van available so ordered a 9 seater to ensure we had enough room. EconomyBooking.com assured me that they would contact the Rental Co. to request the particular vehicle I ordered. I paid on receipt of Booking link sent to me immediately and after paying and 2 more phone calls to EconomyBookings.com I am told that NO request was sent to Rental Co. and no particular model could be guaranteed. I then received an email asking me to rate them 2 months before I actually use them. Well you asked for it so here it is
GOOD MORNING, BOOK MY SUV IN COSTA RICA WITH ECONOMY BOOKING, WHEN GOT TO AEROPORT BIN TOLD NO SUV AVAILABLE JUST OLD FOUR DOOR HYUNADY SEDAN, IN THE BOOKING IT'S SAID TOYOTA RUSH OR SIMULAR SUV. RENT FROM FOX CAR RENTAL FOR THREE TIMES MORE, DON'T TRUST CHEAP RICES AND PREPARE FOR NO CAR
...and here we come again: crooks, to be avoided.
The price displayed at the beginning as "full" & "including taxes and fees" suddenly changes the very last second as either a "tax" or a "location fee" gets added changing the total dramatically.
I did make screenshots of the process, can email on request.
Clearly, I did not proceed with booking.
I think this website should go out of business.
Booking was as advertised and the price was very good. EconomyBookings reference to car insurance and how you were fully covered was not correct. It referred to specific patrs of insurance like theft and storm damage rather than excess which was the over riding impact on the insurance.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with EconomyBookings and would strongly caution others before booking through them.
I prepaid over €400 for what was advertised as a 7-seater vehicle. Upon arrival at the SIXT desk, I was told that the only 7-seater available in my category was an electric vehicle — something that was never clearly indicated at the time of booking.
As I was travelling in rural Wales with my family, limited charging infrastructure made this completely impractical, especially given the requirement to return the vehicle with 80% charge. I was therefore left with no realistic option but to accept a significantly more expensive upgrade, which cost me an additional £600 on the spot.
This was not a “voluntary upgrade” as they later claimed...it was a forced decision due to their inability to provide a practical vehicle within the category I had prepaid for.
When I raised the issue, the response was a generic template reply hiding behind “we only guarantee car groups.” That misses the point entirely. A 7-seater that is not reasonably usable for the customer’s context should not be treated as equivalent.
In total, I ended up paying over €1,000 for a rental that was initially advertised at less than half that price.
Poor transparency, zero accountability, and no willingness to resolve a clear customer service failure.
I will not be booking through them again.
A Complete Scam – Avoid Economy Bookings
I booked a Toyota Corolla Wagon for 5 days through Economy Bookings. The total price quoted was $160.46 NZD, with Economy Bookings taking $87.46 NZD upfront and confirming I would pay $95 FJD on arrival at Nadi Airport, Fiji. Everything seemed fine… until we arrived.
Their call centre number didn’t work, and the instructions told us to look for Blacktown Rentals. When we found the representative, he immediately told us the price was $95 FJD per day — not the total amount Economy Bookings had confirmed in writing.
We had just landed with two tired kids in the Fiji heat after an early morning flight. At that point, we were stuck. After arguing, the man insisted it was “Economy Bookings’ mistake” and still charged us $90 FJD per day. We had no choice but to accept it so we could get our children to the resort.
And it gets worse.
The car they gave us was in shocking condition — dents everywhere, peeling paint, missing light covers, and nothing like the clean, modern photos shown on Economy Bookings’ website. My husband was embarrassed to even drive it.
This entire experience felt like a bait and switch scam. Economy Bookings takes their cut and then completely washes their hands of any responsibility. No support, no working phone number, no accountability.
My advice: DO NOT book through this website.
We booked car rental through this company in December and Voyagerent was the lowest price company they offered. Be very aware that they do not have their own parking facility and bring the car to departures area. The car had alreadty clocked up 209,000km! They did not supply a vehicle condition report on delivery, charged the full 1200 euro excess fee immediately, did not examine the car on return and then only refunded 300 euro to our account falsely claiming 900 euro damage by us. Economy Bookings refused to help us get our money back.
In response to economy bookings reply we have already made a formal complaint to them and they have washed their hands of it. These two companies are typical of the sort that give car hire in Alicante such a bad name.
Economy did not provide the code for the car rental company such as Dollar. I printed the reservation, but it did not show the code of the rental agency. I contacted the agency Dollar in Cancun, they stated they needed the code to look up my reservation. If I would have showed up on March 29, I would have a problem since the printout of the reservation does not show a code.
Disappointed. I had to cancel a booking. I was given a partial refund.
I have made another booking and when I went to pay I saw the credit there to be used fantastic.
Gave my details made another booking and the credit has not been used.
Raised a query and got back a very unhelpful reply from Crli e saying basically tough. Use it next time.
This is not right. It’s bad service. Bad practice. I want the credit used against my current booking as it could be some time before I book again
Why are these big companies so matter of fsct with replies and don’t care - had a ridiculous reply. They don’t want me to use this credit and made it so difficult _ don’t use them
I rented through this agent, both times they charge extra at the counter 1st with Routes car rental then with Priceless car rental. I rented a car for a week with Priceless and then when i returned it I was 3 hrs late (my fault I underestimated the 405 traffic) They slugged me with a fee greater than the whole week. What a joke. I highly recommend using a reputable company like hertz, Avis etc. they seem to cost more initially but these other "cheap" companies are parasites with hidden fees that cost you more in the long run. Definitely not worth it!!
