Adventure in Costa Rica

Everything was so organized and each experience was educational and engaging for our students. The Tour Director while on tour, David Diaz was phenomenal along with Lisa Willis our tour consultant in preparation for the tour along with the full EF team of helpers.

Holly ROCKS as my tour coordinator

As my tour coordinator, Holly Laflamme is the absolute best! She anticipates my needs and we have a great working relationship. I currently have four tours with EF in various stages and Holly has helped me through all of them.

The tour was well planned for my child…

The tour was well planned for my child to have a great experience. The only downfall was the timing of their flights. Early morning commute to airport was difficult when you have a young family. Unfortunately their flight was delayed twice then cancelled, which meant the children were travelling 24 hrs without proper rest and thus were tired. They had also missed the first day of their tour, shortening their time from 5 days to 4 days at their destination.

Our guide Carey

Our guide Carey, was absolutely fantastic. She was fantastic with the kids, knowledgable, organised and flexible to all of our needs and desires. when we had some technical issues at the aiprot, she kept us informed as she sorted out the issue for us and quelled the nerves. This issue was bot the fault of EF's to be clear, but was an issue caused on our side. She was professional and frankly, absolutely a joy to spend our time with. Upon returning, the students continue to rave about how great she was and how much they miss her. Thanks so much for a flawless, problem free, relaxing, informative and overall great holiday!

My daughter told me that their tour…

My daughter told me that their tour guide Russell yelled at them and dropped a few F bombs when the group of 49 kids could not get across crosswalks in one large group in time. At one point they were 5 minutes late getting to a meeting point and he said to them “I am a director and if this was a real performance you would all be fired! None of you will get into theatre with this poor time management. I didn’t like the fact that the kids had to share beds. My daughter only met her roommate the day before. I think this is pretty poor that she had to share a bed for the price of the trip they paid, at least single beds could have been found for them. I think EF tours kept kids on a tight schedule to be able to see everything which was great. One restaurant did not feed the kids in time and once again Russell yelled at the restaurant people to get their dessert using pretty strong language. I’m not impressed. Thanks for this opportunity to give you feedback.

Overall the London trip was a great…

Overall the London trip was a great success for our students and the EF staff partners we worked with were dedicated individuals. Unfortunately during our planning stages we lost our original travel coordinator and the pass-off was less than stellar. Several wishlist items for our trip were missed or not scheduled until very late. Tough to say this was a direct fault of EF but it did lead to a few unfortunate hiccups and last minute changes in our itinerary choices. Again, overall we had a positive experience on our trip and with the individual EF staff we worked with. Special thanks to Cameron and Sarah!

Great tour, sleazy pricing tactics

Kind of scammy and expensive, but the tour was good in the end. My kid loved the tour itself, and the hotel, activities and guide were fantastic, by all reports. As a parent, though, there was just something sleazy from the get go, starting with the fact that they force you to take the most expensive travel insurance policy to sign your kid up for the tour, whether you need it or not. (You have to call -- as if working parents have time to sit on hold endlessly -- within 30 days if you want to cancel it, a fact many parents missed, by design from the EF side. If they were in a different industry, they'd be in trouble with government regulators for this.) Then there was the pre-trip meeting with the EF rep, who informed us of all the extra expected charges -- tips for the guide and bus driver(s) primary among them, with no clear instructions on how a teen is supposed to figure out how to tip in a foreign currency / country (where tips are probably not customary but I guess they're expected from the North Americans). And then she explained that the kids would be sharing beds, which upset many parents when it was disclosed so late in the process, after we'd paid so much money per student. (In the end, they didn't share beds -- this was among the many inaccuracies in the rep's presentation.)Overall, great experience for the kids, expensive, and scammy pricing tactics.
