I had a terrible experience with Europcar. Despite making a reservation in advance, they completely failed to check my eligibility before confirming the booking. When I arrived to pick up the car, they refused to give it to me, citing eligibility issues that could have easily been addressed beforehand.This lack of due diligence ruined my day and disrupted my entire plan. I had to scramble to make alternative arrangements at the last minute, causing unnecessary stress and inconvenience.It’s unacceptable for a company to confirm a reservation without ensuring that all requirements are met. I strongly advise against using Europcar if you want a hassle-free rental experience.
Vehicle Malfunction: The 2nd day of rental the air conditioner malfunctioned, leaking into the engine causing it to smoke and forcing me to stop roadside. The breakdown service took 2 hours to arrive.Poor Customer Support: I spent over 3.5 hours trying to get assistance from Europcar's support channels on what to do with the vehicle. I was repeatedly passed between departments, faced poor communication, and was even given incorrect contact information.Inconvenient Resolution: The only solution offered was for me to make a 5-hour round trip to exchange the vehicle, which I had to arrange on my own initiative.While a replacement vehicle was eventually provided, the process was arduous and disruptive. Europcar failed to acknowledge the significant inconvenience caused or offer any form of compensation for the time lost and plans disrupted.Conclusion: I am deeply dissatisfied with Europcar's lack of accountability and the poor level of customer service received.
Let me share my experience with this disgusting company. I did booked a car in one of the Sheffield branches, booking was made like 4 weeks prior the picking up the car. Day and half left before booking some "professional Karen" rings me and asking some details for " identity and soft credit check" and tells me that I won't be able to get rent car as I do not pass they checks.Fair enough if I will be booking first time, now I been renting with this company many years before with no issues at all!!!! Holiday plans ruined! Absolutely disgusting how I been treated for that many years of business!!!Never will be going back here, there is tones of different companies who don't need a " soft credit check/ identity check" with more better price!!!!! You lost a loyal customer, if it will be only one place in whole world to rent a car I will choose a bus or will walk miles instead of going in to this crap company!!!!!👎👎👎👎👎👎AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terrible, unhelpful, uncaring company with very poor customer service. I booked to hire a car from them through Carjet. They were a nightmare with lots of unmentioned hidden charges. The displayed price of hire on the website was £220 and as I turned up to Europcar to pick up the vehicle, they informed me of a hidden charge of £85 which I had to pay on the top. I refused since with that price I could have hire a Mercedes-Benz instead of a Nissan Juke! I was left without a car. My kids missed last day of school and I still have not been able to get hold of a single person to resolve this issue or to get a refund. EuropCar did next to nothing to help. They people behind the counter were not sympathatic nor competent to help solve the problem. Moreso just pointing fingers, ping ponged me to CarJet. Carjet does not have an email address nor a UK phone number to contact them. Europcar staff knew that but did not help. Just said there is nothing we can do. Sorry. Makes you feel helpless, not cared for and insignificant as a customer! Definitely not a feeling I wish to experience again. I also had my elderly mother with me to pick up the car on Thu. It took them a good one and half hour to get to the conclusion that now they want to charge me extra or they can't help me with a car rental. To be avoided....
Stuff was very useless (alfranz) She cancelled my booking straight away as my UK drivers license was less than a year old. However on their terms and conditions it says: An International Driving Permit is required in addition to a National Driving Licence if the National Driving Licence you or any of the Additional Drivers hold is not clearly identifiable as a Driving Licence, e.g., it is in a non-Latin alphabet (e.g. Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, Japanese).So i told the stuff i have another driver’s license i could use and show to her but she said they don’t accept it but it says otherwise on their terms and conditions mentioned above. I sent about what happened and asked for a refund cause i didn’t use their service and definitely caused me and my family a hassle but still not very helpful. So for those who want to book car rental on this company. I DON’t RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL. You’re wasting your money and the queue was very long. It took ages to be accommodated by one of their stuffs.
Heathrow airport branch I arrived early @5pm while the time to collect the car was 9pm.They suggested to pay 40 then 20 and finally 15 pounds per day in excess to provide me with a car at the time of my arrival.This was clearly an extortionate behaviour.If you pay Extra (600 then 300 and finally 225 pounds) for an initial booking of 290 pounds, then by magic a "better" car can be available while a same or smaller category car is never an option!!!I asked for a smaller car and they suggested a really small 2 door car.I mentioned that I am a regular customer with Europcar, they continued to claim there's no available car for me and that I would have to wait for 3 hours to get my booked car. After waiting for 40 minutes they called me and said that " the car has just arrived" and they gave me the car.I expected from a big company like Europcar, to be more professional.
