Booked to hire a van online

Booked to hire a van online, went through fine, had confirmation email, next day had another email confirming. So travelled the 25miles to collect the van to get there to be told they can’t hire to me as failed a credit check.. ok I get that but why not tell me before I travelled all that way! Why would you need a credit check when all money is payed up front my licence is clean I’m 46 and have no claims. It completely messed up my daughter’s house move. Please say no before people travel. As we don’t all live close to your station, this was Swindon

Direct line and Europcar croydon car replacement hire both are in bussiness together , both are nightmare to deal with . partnership, stear clear or your have a mental breakdown trying to get through to them.

Dear Europcar Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing regarding my recent car rental experience in Barcelona, under reservation number 1177604295, from 5th July to 12th July. Firstly, I would like to express my satisfaction with the overall rental experience. The car and service provided were excellent, contributing to an enjoyable trip. However, I have noticed a discrepancy in the final charges that I would like to address. Upon reviewing my final bill, I discovered a charge of 108.51 euros labeled as a "cross border fee." When initially asked by the Europcar representative if I planned to travel outside of Spain, I specifically stated that I would not be doing so. The charges were explained to me as airport fees, but after referring to your website, I have found that they are indeed intended for crossing the Spanish border. During my trip, I did not travel outside of Spain. When returning the car, I inquired about these charges and was informed by the counter representative that the car's GPS would be checked. If no cross-border travel was detected, the charges would be refunded. As these charges have not yet been refunded, I kindly request that you look into this matter and issue a refund for the cross border fee of 108.51 euros. Thank you for your attention

Couldn't care less that they have taken the money and don't have the car will now hold my funds for 10 days for selling me something they never had

Appalling

Appalling. The company said they were taking 100 euros as a deposit but have taken over 600. I still cannot access these funds and customer service offers no apologies or any way of resolving the issue. DO NOT USE THEM

Our very negative experience

Hired a car from Europacar Heathrow and dropped off at Gatwick all went well (although it was very expensive) the people there checked the vehicle said all good and we left, about 2=weeks later we get an email with a scratch about 4 cm on the very front of the top of the bonnet, we told them we did not do it and it must have been done in the yard after we dropped it off but to no avail, they charged us 379 pounds which converted to about 765 Australian dollars which was extortion for the photos that they sent to us.DO NOT hire from this company as the reviews you are reading are constantly the same and very true.

Very unhelpful and borderline rude.

Booked a car from Europcar Stirling. Turned up to collect our booked car. Presented my UK driving licence to the young lady behind the desk. 'You need a passport', she said. I have an original licence without a photocard. This is entirely valid under Europcar's booking conditions, but not for this lady. 'OK, I have my works photo card'. 'I need a passport'! 'My wife has her UK licence, with photo', is that OK?'. 'I need a passport'. 'Can we speak to your manager?'. (Very Reluctantly) ' I will speak to my manager'. She did, at length, telling her she didn't want to accept the booking. We eventually asked to speak to the manager direct. I explained I had a works identity card and she said 'Yes that's fine'. Our lady (grumpy) then proceeded , with great ill grace, to slowly re-enter, line by line, the info that was already on her computer system - I know because I had pre-entered it. She was clearly unhappy. In the background, the phone rang continuously, unanswered. Customer service at its worst.

Do not bother!

Do not bother! I "requested" a vehicle twice. First time they told me it was not available after 24 hours. The 2nd time they took closer to 2 weeks. I am informed by Wael that it may be because another customer has extended a booking. Suffice to say, they don't actually have the car that you are trying to rent and they have no problem wasting your time. The price of other providers has gone up and I am now struggling with availability and all Europcar have done is said sorry, which doesn't cover my inconvenience.
