Hired a car at Bristol airport. The service rep asked if we wanted extra insurance which I declined as we already had it independently. He then asked if we wanted Roadside Assistance cover and said it was "only £5". Both my husband and I commented and questioned the amount, but he confirmed that yes it was just £5 so we agreed. Stupidly I signed the agreement without checking it, assuming it was just for the car hire (which I had pre-paid) and the extra £5. It wasn't until I got the final invoice after returning the car that I saw that the roadside assistance was not £5, but was in fact £5.81 PER DAY plus VAT, making a total of £48.97. This was an added cost of 32%. I raised the matter with Europcar, but they were not interested in what the sales assistant told us, only what I had signed for. I consider this to be sharp practice, taking advantage of people who have had an early start, travelled a long distance and are anxious to get their car and go. This car hire was only for a week. Later in the year we will be hiring a car for a month, but it won't be with Europcar or any of their other companies, so for £48.97 they've lost out on a future hire of around £1300 and more on future hires.
I booked a car via Carjet and they gave me the contact number for the car dealer at Prestwick Airport to collect the car called Keddy. They also told me I had to pay an additional 800E holding deposit. When I called the number a guy called Kris from Europcar answered and explained they are not actually based at Prestwick Airport but agreed to pick me up and then drop me back. He also explained Carjet are always making mistakes and a nightmare to deal with . On arrival he picked me up and I was only offered an automatic car even though I only ever have driven manual, but this was all he had to offer me . He also asked for a 700E holding deposit on my card which I accepted. I had to watch YouTube videos to figure out how to actually drive the car as I got stuck a few times. When I returned the car ,he told me everything was absolutely fine and said I'd be returned the 700E in a few hours . They did return the 700E but then deducted 78E and I contacted him to ask what this was for . He ignored my messages for days . And when I chased him up 5 days later he acted as if he didn't know who I was and asking for the booking reference number . I then sent him all the information he needed. 25 days later I still never received a response, apology or explanation. The whole thing is an absolute SCAM . WILL NEVER RECOMMEND CARJET OR EUROPCAR PRESTWICK TO ANYONE. SCAM COMPANIES!!!!!!
Awful customer service!!! shocking trying to get hold of someone in general Had a fault with the car boot as couldn’t get it open when it had wheelchair in it. Again no one answers the phones. Given false times that someone will pick up the carWhen I got given a second time for collecting the car they were two hours late no courtesy to let me know. Absolutely awful wouldn’t recommend!!!!!

I wrote a review back in March about the terrible service I am receiving with regards to damage to a car I rented last July. Well things just got worse. I am continuing to email them regularly, but have now reached a point where everyone has closed the case, Europcar, their lawyers, the third party insurers, but no one has paid me back my money! And in case Europcar comment saying please contact customer services, I have! At least 20 times. I will seriously be avoiding this company, and good luck anyone who's car is damaged, even if it's not your fault. Looks like they keep your money!
I have rented a car from Glasgow Airportnfor a week. Having driven about 40 miles from the airport, my car developed a major electrical fault. When I rang them to ask for a replacement vehicle I was bounced from customer services, the AA, First Response (the people who co-ordinate EuropeCar caccident response). None of these were able to authorise a replacement car. After being bounced from one phone number to another, sitting listening to messages for about 2 hours, The best I could get was the AA to come and tow the car back to Glasgow airport & then for me to drive it back. I was treated with disinterest or rudeness by EuropCar staff. I will never be renting with Europcar again & strongly suggest nobody else does either. When you need them, their shoddy car is your problem - not theirs.
I am deeply upset by this recent hire. I am a regular user of Carflexi and have found their rates to be good. However, this time, I was allocated a pick up from Gatwick with Europcar. When we arrived we were rushed through the sign-up process and at no point were we given information or guidance on insurance. As I never get insurance cover (Carflexi can attest to this) I signed the papers and left. Only to find that I had been charged for premium insurance which cost more than the car hire itself. In addition, I was charged 40 pounds administration fee on a Dart crossing that I had already paid. I feel that these big companies act without any checks and balances and the customer becomes a victim.
