Review Time
The upgrade was suggested by the employee herself because the car we ordered had room for 3 large suitcases (and was therefor ordered by us) and the one she suggested did not have enough space. In other words, the proposed car did not match the car we explicitly ordered. So after dealing with the papers, she put the paper, which said you had to pay for this upgrade, between the papers to be signed. So we signed these papers blindly and in good faith as she said NOTHING about the extra cost of the upgrade.At no point was it mentioned that this would have an additional cost. We would have settled this immediately if this was the case and IF we agreed upon an extra cost. The fact that you did not do this until July 26 on your own initiative shows that there was no transparency about this.We also asked before signing the documents whether there were any additional costs and that was not the case (the lady confirmed this))!The deposit on my credit card was released only after my phone on 23 July where I had already returned the car on 9 July. The upgrade was also only taken from my credit card at that time whereas normally it should have been done immediately.This really smells like a scam where they make the customer think they don't have to pay more for their supposedly good service that you pay dearly for. Because I had not booked directly with them, a deposit of 1061 € was reserved on my credit card, which was only released after I had inquired. I called Customer Service 3 times, hung on the line for 15 minutes each time and then put the phone down without explanation. NEVER AGAIN EUROPCAR!We find this way of working unprecedented and unacceptable and we demand a full refund of the deducted amount immediately.We count on the professional handling of this complaint.And so then below you get the standard response europcar gives to everyone on a bad review. Outrageous ! They don't even bother to answer personally. This is probably just a robot giving this answer when a review comes with low ratings !!!
I was involved in car accident in May I reported the incident to my insurance company at the time as well has the pain and suffering I received they then put me in contact with Europcar Group uk ltd for replacement vehicle while my car was being repaired They was supposed to give a like for like car that was sent in a email from them, will were do I start.... I arrange for the delivery of the car at time I would be home in afternoon the car turned up in the morning good thing my child was home they left car with my child and it was NOT the same car as they described in their email what I received it was so large like a tank and dirty discussing service with no explanation or nothing they collected the car few days later when they were available didn't wait for me to return home the same treatment I received from the start from them terrible service I telephone them to make arrangements to pay the petrol I used due to financial hardship I pay their money plus the interest they put on top over 3 instalments that was owed and now 5 months later Im still receiving debt collectors letters and emails demanding payment to no avail I have tried to get in contact with Europcar Group uk ltd collections department and their debt collector company by the name of Shakepspeare Martineau no one has responded to my emails or telephone calls which is causing me considerable distess. This company and the bad service I've received and the emails and letters the harassment from them I would never recommend this company stay clear of Europcar Group uk ltd they are unprofessional they don't care about their customers.
The London Gatwick team worked miracles for us last night. After EasyJet cancelled our flight to Aberdeen after we arrived at the airport we needed a last minute one way car hire for four adults and two children. Within minutes they had organised a Vauxhall 7 seater and had us on our way within 30 minutes and we were in Aberdeen by six o’clock this morning. Many thanks your help was really appreciated.
We arrived to pick up our prebooked care and were told it was going to be too small and that we would need a 7 seater vehicle which would cost us £250 per day. No other alternative was available. The agent offered us a 10 % discount on his quote. The car we received was in fact a 5 seater that I could have rented online from EUROPCAR for around £160 per day. In addition when I received my final invoice there was a charge of £433.06 for renting from a premium site at Heathrow. This is not mentioned anywhere on the rental agreement nor in the list of optional products I signed for. When I questioned EUROPCAR support regarding not receiving the product I was told I was getting and paying a premium for the incorrect car and a large charge not mentioned anywhere I was told that as they had a signed agreement they were not ready to reimburse any monies. Mohammed at EUROPCAR lied about the product we were getting talked up the rental and was not transparent about the charges. He then had the nerve to request we give him a good review presumably so he could get a good bonus. This is obviously Europcars business model and patently dishonest.Philip Middleton
Nice airport. We pre-booked a car many months beforehand nearly £1,000 had specifically asked for a Renault Tucson or equivalent 3 large suitcases had to go in. Gave us a Jeep which only 2 cases could go in, it was dirty & damaged! Went back to reception to complain, basically told that’s all they had and if we wanted could get a refund….Thats no good as we needed a car to continue.However 5 days in and we’d took our son back earlier to return home, on the journey to airport engine management light came on. Returned the car for another, well this one although was more what we asked for the damage was terrible! Looked like it had been in an accident. How can a big company like this send cars out damaged the way it was is beyond me. Felt ashamed to driving around South of France in this car! Will not use this company again.
Just liars!Omitting the fact that they will push you to upgrade to a more expensive car, they will also promise that part of the total amount will be returned as a refundable deposit at the end of your rental. Which of course will not. Read your agreement carefully and try to ignore what they are telling about better car, better insurance, etc..
Beware when they offer you a complementary upgrade - the charge will come out of your deposit days after you have handed the keys back... I arrived in Belfast airport early morning to pick up a rental car I had paid for in advance. The lady behind the desk was lovely with good chat. I was offered a complementary upgrade - I thought wow this was nice, this proved a fallacy as a couple of days after I had returned the keys, I was charged on my credit card out of the deposit. Having looked after the car and taken photos of the condition when I handed it in, I assumed I had been charged for some perceived scratch and was about to argue. When I enquired I found out the charge was for the upgrade which I had assumed was complementary/free.The way I was charged was misleading and deceptive since I was not charged on the day I picked up the vehicle and accepted the 'complementary upgrade' and therefore did not receive a paper receipt from the sales point terminal. I signed what I thought was a contract for renting of the car, I had no idea there were extra charges for the upgrade, the charge was in font 6 and not easy to interpret especially arriving early morning bleary eyed.I took the smallest/budget car as this was what I could afford and would have not taken the upgrade if it was clear to me I was going to be charged!Beware the talkative nice assistant and if they offer a complementary upgrade, triple check they are not charging you!
