Scammers

Very strange as this hire company sent me a text message 2 weeks after I had returned the car, claiming there was damage to the vehicle. Luckily I had taken a video of the condition of the car inside and out, and there was no damage when I left it at the dealership. A few days after I dropped the hire car at the garage, Europcar finally collected it and yet did not mention any damage, in fact they sent a video they took on collection and the car looks fine *although having compared their footage to mine, they had taken the video after driving it as the fuel gauge was slightly less than as I left it. The notification from Europcar was sent by text message and there is no option to reply.A call to their customer services ended up with someone in Morocco who refused to clarify what the damage apparently is, stating it is not relevant, they also refused to put me through to a supervisor or manager or arrange a callback from them. I felt entirely at the mercy of someone who simply told me they were investigating!Either this is a scam or Europcar are attempting to charge customers for unspecified 'damage' to vehicles, weeks after they are returned!

One of the Most Stressful Car Hire…

One of the Most Stressful Car Hire Experiences I've Ever Had - I am all for the change over to electric cars, per say, but by choice and not on this occassion...!I recently hired a car from Europcar, and it turned out to be one of the most stressful experiences I've ever had. I originally booked a Vauxhall but, to my surprise, was given a fully electric Jeep instead. No one informed me of this change beforehand—there was no notice in my email or on the order. To make matters worse, I was charged an extra £35.When I arrived to collect the car, I was told there were no other vehicles available, and one of the staff rudely suggested I should just cancel my order. I had an important meeting over 220 miles away and had no choice but to take the car. I had no idea how it worked, and the staff didn’t have a clue either. They didn’t know how many miles I could drive or how to charge it, but they incorrectly assured me that 200 miles would be enough to get me to my destination. After just 30 miles of driving, and when I figured a couple of things out, I realized the mileage was dropping much faster than expected, and I found myself in a panic, with only 43 miles left and 35 miles to go to the nearest charging station. I called Europcar twice for help and was left on hold for 20 and then 35 minutes! I ended up having to call a local dealership to get information about charging the car, who were so helpful and supportive.Despite calling Europcar multiple times to ask for a different vehicle, I was told they couldn’t get through to other branches, and I didn’t have time to go hours out of my way to try Plymouth or Exeter locations. I was late to my meeting and to my hotel in Cirencester, which left me stressed and anxious. The next day, the nightmare continued. The car was at 15% charge in the morning, but I had to drive slowly and risk running out of charge just to make it to my next meeting. Afterward, I drove to two charging stations that were both not working (Shell). I had to go to a third location, which took 20 mins to get to and an hour to charge, and I ended up driving in the dark—a situation that made me even more anxious. I didn’t get home until 9:45 PM, completely exhausted.I wouldn’t have rented this car if I had been told about the change in advance. The potential breach of contract, misrepresentation, lack of communication, rude staff, and complete lack of knowledge about the vehicle made this an awful experience. I felt unsafe throughout the journey, constantly worried about the mileage and being stranded with no charge. This hire wasted my time, energy, and money. Absolutely terrible service, and I feel upset by how badly this was handled and hope this can be redressed.Europcar needs to seriously improve their obligation to customer service and communication. If you're thinking of hiring from them, I would advise you to double-check your booking and be prepared for a lot of hassle.Would not recommend.

Charged a hidden ‘premium pick up fee’…

Charged a hidden ‘premium pick up fee’ of almost £100. Raised case and weeks later still not resolved. Then charged a £40 ‘admin fee’ for a fine that I have never received when I had the car.Ridiculous and useless at the same time.It shouldn’t be this hard.

Awful customer service spoken to Graham…

Awful customer service spoken to Graham Blackwell on the phone who was a very nasty person who kept putting words in my mouth I’ve not said. Please please someone do something about your customer service.I contacted them to explain that fuel that was supplied in the vehicle was no good as only done 10 minute journey and dropping fuel bars so quick. I’ve raised an official complaint to them. But please avoid this company.

Complete scammers and illegal activity

Complete scammers and illegal activity. I rented a car 2 months ago, they queried marks on the rim of the wheel, which I advised were already there and shared photos and videos of them. They agreed and returned my full deposit. Now 2 months later they have charged my credit card £93 for ‘damage’. I don’t even think that’s legal and raised a dispute with my credit card to return the money. Avoid these scammers at all costs

Booked a vehicle and now nothing shows…

Booked a vehicle and now nothing shows on the app or website under bookings, contact them several times and nothing done, emailed them 3 times nothing and now stuck on chat waiting for an advisor for the last 30 minutes. As a business customer this is not the service I want or expect, will not be booking again through Europcar.

Called to have my rental car picked up…

Called to have my rental car picked up on a Wednesday - ok yes we'll be in touch - 24 hours later no contact. Then 3 phone calls lasting 2 minutes each with promises of conatact the following day - no contact. Two more calls to the depot no answer - so 24 hours after the request no contact and no prospect for another 12 hours as they are closed. I'm out tomorrow they can wait for me and the following day I am away for the weekend. Rubbish service.

Check all aspects of the car before you drive off!!

Would put no stars if possible!Interesting reading some other reviews, wish we had prior to hiring a car. I always take photos of the car, looking for dents or scratches etc. Have never thought to check rear wiper to make sure rubber blade is there, will from now on. Did the right thing and reported it when took car back, within 24 hours of realising it was missing. Initially all seemed ok, security deposit was returned. 3 and a half weeks later notified us we would be held responsible as it was 'new damage'. Not only did we then get invoiced for the rear wiper arm also, that was not damaged to our knowledge, was in working order, that is how we realised there was no rubber blade. Still in the dispute process and my friend's account used for the security has had a withdrawal for the full invoice without our knowledge it was about to occur. Will never use Europcar and neither will any of our family or friends. We will be sure to let our travel agent know so she doesn't use them either, it was her booking for us.
