I have booked a car, Reservation number: 1182274307 from 15 to 22 November 2024 through the website. On my arrival at Stansted, at the Europcar counter, the clerk, John, deceived me when he proposed an UPGRADE because the car as ordered was not available and suggested an upgrade to a Mercedes which I firmly refused then he strongly recommended to take a Toyota Hybrid with only a small contribution of only £30 in addition to my payment that I already made.Having no other choice, I accepted an extra total charge of £30. He rushed me to sign the so called standard form and directed me to take the car as there was another client behind me.A few day later I received the mail with a very unfortunate surprise, I was charged £30 + Vat for an extra total of £299,88. That added to my paid booking for a Citroen C3 Aircross makes a total of 463,49 (this makes the daily rate £66,21)!! This is a scam. Please note that a Mercedes from Europcar starts around 34/35£ a day. I wonder what car costs around £66 /day!!! This is scam and the company refused to review the complaint. I strongly suggest to avoid accepting any upgrade from this company as they will in some way they will trick or deceive you. Never again Europcar. And it is pointless to contact your customer service, as I did immediately after two days of rent and again twice after I returned the vehicle. Always the same reply which obviously invites me to contact and recontact the “useless” customer service.

Horrendous experience with renting a…

Horrendous experience with renting a car and then the subsequent customer service that I received. Was forced into an upgrade that I didn’t want- they played the language barrier card so paid the €23 extra. We then paid an extortionate amount of money for a car seat that was both unsafe and filthy. Then When contacting customer services with both photographs and proof of both of these problems, they dismissed my concerns. To rub salt in the wounds, the car itself had warning lights on and a safety recall light on too. Again, something that the customer services department ignored in my email. I rented this car for myself, my husband and a baby whilst on holiday. This car and the car seat were potentially unsafe. This resulted in barely using the car when on holiday, therefore not using it to its full potential and wasting money. Customer service completely dismissed both the photos and my concerns.

Absolute scammers

Absolute scammers. A car crashed into my rental while I was 15 miles away. The company have ignored my requests for any information on the insurance claim, only able to send invoices and debt collectors. It's been seven months since the driver knocked my door and admitted fault. They've given me no communication on the insurance and now im at a dead end where every department has told me they dont deal with this but also refuse to give me another department to try. I have even explained im happy to pay the money I just want to see some documentation on the insurance outcome as over one month after they confimed they hadn't started this process yet. I just want to know how to get reimbursement when the insurance claim goes through. Don't use this company if you like your sanity.... Absolute disgraceful service

#1 in misleading customers

#1 in misleading customers, upgraded specifically to an engine driven hybrid, was given a plug-in with ZERO Charge !! Was worse than a regular petrol car. It had continuous faults, system errors, upon return the tech said, they all do it, it’s a badly designed car (MG). Opted for fuel option, i was told i would get a refund upon return for remaining, apparently this is only for full tank. At the front desk they were rude, I called customer service, after two weeks the declined to refund any nominal amount. So i will never, ever rent again from EuropCar, wish I had checked TrustPilot 1st before renting i can see why 47% give a 1 star rating. Be aware.Europcar reach out, but all their link does is make me start over the whole process - if you are Interested Europcar check the CS 21717807

Frankly a disaster of an organisation

Frankly a disaster of an organisation! I booked a van, showed up at the branch where I was told they didn’t have any available despite me having a confirmation. I left obviously annoyed, what annoyed me more was then being charged £110 no show fee a week later. I’ve tried to speak with their customer service, but no response nor apology nor action. Avoid this terrible company at all costs. When I actually got a van I rented through Enterprise, the experience was completely different, I actually got a van, very friendly staff and the van was in excellent condition.

If I could give it less than one star I…

If I could give it less than one star I would, AVOID AVOID AVOID!! rented a car in Birmingham airport and all was well even got it back to them and everything was grand. But about a month later got email after email about a charge of £45 and wouldn’t tell me what for. Now I’m getting letters through the post from debt collectors and only now saying that it was a traffic violation, but no date or time of the alleged offence. Nor proof that it was the car I had or me driving. Scammers

Never trust this company for hire car ! Total bandits never return calls or emails!! Wanting to charge you for damage what you have not done!! STAY AWAY from this company!!!!! Try to charge for damage 2 weeks after taking the car back ! Warrington Branch are a bunch of criminals still waiting for a call back from these criminals

Absolutely disgusting treatment by this…

Absolutely disgusting treatment by this so called company. An arranged hire car through motability was delivered to me at the dealership which quarter the fuel tank had been used when I received it. No paperwork or anything was signed. She handed keys, I took photos of the car as proof there was scrape marks on the vehicle already. The woman who delivered it seemed a little edgy. I used the hire car a handful of times and then filled it back up to where it was when I handed the keys. I dropped it at the dealership and the recptionist told me she would arrange the collection for me and she took the keys off me. A WEEK later I had notification It had been collected by Europcar. They then billed me for £30 fuel used!! I disputed this but then became too tired to continue and paid it, stupidly. Now 2 MONTHS later they have filed a claim against me for damage to the vehicle!! I am being chased for £100 excess for damage I DID NOT do. The damage in question was already on the vehicle when I was handed the keys. I took photos of the car when I dropped it off and uploaded them onto the Europcar link they had sent me. So they DO have the photos before and after showing the exact same damage already there and no further damages. UNLESS, the dealership had caused damage between the week of me dropping it off and Europcar collecting it. Either way, I did NOT cause any damage what so ever, or the delivery woman damaged it on the way to dropping it off as apparently no damage was recorded before I had it. convenient!!! I refuse to pay for someone elses damage. NOT a chance. I will take this all way the way and as far as it goes. They uploaded their own images and I uploded my images to them. So they have the images I sent them regardless. They are liars, unprofessional money grabbers preying on motability customers. DO NOT ACCEPT EUROPCAR HIRE.

Abysmal…

We recently had to use this abysmal company, via nobility. Not only did they provide an unsuitable vehicle, (how do you get a disabled person and wheelchair in a Fiat 500?), they were constantly unavailable by phone for over a day. When we eventually got through there was no kind of help or assistance!I can only say I will never use this company again. Shocking!!

Awful company do not use this company absolutely shocking customer services can’t speak to a manager or supervisor branch phone they never answer or return messages sent even emails to security team and they don’t have a number to contact I’m currently waiting to hear back from BVRLA and trading standards regarding EUROPACAR AND THE CHELMSFORD BRANCH AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS UBLESS YOU WANT MONEY TAKEN FROM YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT PERMISSION WHICH IVE NOW OPENED FRAUD CASE WITH THE BANK
