I love Finematter and have used their repair and refresh services etc a couple of times, which was a great experience and I left a glowing review.I recently went to use their services again and was really disappointed to see they have now switched to UPS as a courier, and now you have to print your own label. I don't live anywhere near a UPS drop off point and I don't have a printer either, so I was extremely disappointed to find this out and it will be a massive inconvenience to have to pay to print the label and have the parcel collected, on top of a steep increase in the price of the services.I won't be using the services again after this unless they revert back to using Royal Mail and sending out the packaging and labels with it. This was so much more convenient and an overall better experience.
The reviews were so promising, I did not have time to make a trip to a jewelry shop (they all charge the same as FM, around $50). This is an innocent decision I made that I will have to live with (Please just go to the shop and don't make the decision I did!). FM shipped my piece out within 2 days of receipt which was speedy. But then the UPS delivery date got "delayed" so I notified them immediately. FM said they reached out to UPS to ensure all is well. I followed up a few times for over 2 weeks. They reassured me it was fine and the delivery changes were just being processed. Then one day they tell me that they LOST my heirloom, precious ring that I have worn and cherished my entire adult life, a gift from my beloved grandmother who has since passed. The cost and workmanship if the same in your local jewelry shop PLEASE DO NOT MAIL AWAY JEWELRY, call your local shop for any refurbishment.
