On our visit to Gravsend, we came across GDK. It is just as clean as another GDK we visit, also as they have air conditioning its nice and cool in there.Their food is delicious not dripping in fat just nice and tasty. I have a few not to eat foods and they were very understanding about all that. I also found doughnut mini bites delicious to finish your meal off.
Yesterday, I visited GDK Southampton Above Bar, and unfortunately, my experience was far from impressive. There are a few key reasons for this low score: 1. Cleanliness – The restaurant’s hygiene standards were shockingly poor. For a place serving food, you would expect a much higher level of cleanliness, but this was clearly not a priority. 2. Value for Money – The prices do not match the quality or portion sizes. What you actually get is nowhere near worth the cost, leaving you feeling like you have paid premium prices for a subpar meal. 3. Food Safety – The biggest issue? Undercooked food, which led to food poisoning today. There is absolutely no excuse for serving food that is not properly cooked, and it is completely unacceptable from a restaurant that should be prioritising food safety.I would not recommend this venue to anyone. I had heard mixed reviews before, and now I completely understand why. If you are considering a visit, think twice.
Shocking service & disappointing quality at GDK LiverpoolI don't have a GDK branch anywhere near me, but was in Liverpool and had the chance of a visit there.A few weeks back I contacted the GDK via social media to check on the meat ingredients as I'm allergic to garlic, which isn't a listed allergen but is listed on the whole ingredient list of food products. They were totally friendly and confirmed it was suitable for me. I was really looking forward to finally trying a GDK - I am German, and that's one thing I miss since moving to the UK. I didn't expect too much, as I've learned that German food in other countries always tastes different. Doesn't mean that it's always bad though.Sadly, the experience was a total disappointment. (Please bear with me, as this might be a slightly longer explanation.)Displayed on the screen - in case of allergies, talk to the staff. So we did and explained my garlic allergy. The lady who was behind the counter referred straight to the allergen and nutrition sheet, which is right and I am used to. However, as it's not a listed allergen, the sheet isn't helpful to me. We explained this, and I asked to check the ingredients of the sauces. She didn't, but said "it should be ok". I explained I didn't want to risk anything and asked again if she could check the ingredients. She reluctantly grabbed a tub of yoghurt sauce and read out loud the ingredients, which were ok. She didn't take our order, just referred us back to the screen. To be honest, we should have just left at this point, as it already took ages to get to this and she seemed very annoyed to have some work.Anyway it was early evening and i wanted to give it a try. We ordered 2 OG Döner Kebabs, mine with just with yoghurt sauce, the other one with all sauces plus extra sauce. We also had drinks. We looked for a table - it wasn't busy at all, plenty of empty places, but not one table was clean... Sauce drippings and crumbs were on every free table, so we asked one to be cleaned. With a big sigh and a "really?" the lady eventually cleaned a table. The food was ready. Both Döner kebabs had a significant different amount of meat & salad in them. Comparing them, mine was about a third of the meat & salad portion of what the other one was. The meat and salad did not look fresh either. My drink was missing, and the extra sauce was missing. Taking the receipt to the counter and asking for the missing items, we received them with what seemed like annoyance. Before I even started eating, I regretted coming to GDK all in all. The Döner Kebab itself ... ok-ish ... It tasted like the ingredients had been lying in their prep trays since the morning and by the evening had become dryish. I actually can imagine if the ingredients were fresher, and the serving quality & quantity is consistent, the Döner Kebab is quite nice.Would I try GDK again? Maybe a different branch. Definitely not the Liverpool branch again and I won't recommend it to anyone asking. Thanks again to the really friendly GDK social media team, who helped me in answering my question a few weeks back!
Until now I have never had any issues with the place and I have been going here for years. The lady who claims to be an area manager was extremely rude.I understand that she was trying to share valid information and I also understand that she is doing her job. However, there is a way to talk to customers or people. Her attitude was horrible and terrible customer service.
I was offered a reduced price ‘welcome kebab’ when ordering on the app and assured that the discount would be applied at checkout. It wasn’t. My son ordered a kebab meal plus a garlic sauce. The whole thing arrived earlier than requested, it was cold, no drink, no garlic sauce. An appalling experience never to be repeated.
