I was impressed with the ease of making a claim, the speed at which it was processed, and the fact that the company did not try and squirm out of honouring the claim by alluding to some small print or other reason not to pay out.
My son bought a Golf mk6 in June 2017 for 17k with 35,000 miles on the clock, the dealer as a matter of course offers 12 month gold warranty with most of their sales I believe if not all of them. However in February of this year he noticed clutch slip in third, fourth and fifth gear he contacted me and asked me to drive the car and give him an opinion. The car was slipping and we contacted the claims line to get the ball rolling and find out if it was covered, yes it was said the guy on the phone. So we followed instructions to get an apraisal/diagnosis and the technician confirmed what we suspected. We were charged 69 pounds for the pleasure and the very reputable garage liased on our behalf with AA warrantys, their response was that yes they cover the work up to a 1,000 pound max.Although they stipulated photographic evidence would be required, not a problem both pictures and a videos sent revealed a failed flywheel which in turn flatspotted the clutch itself. After laying out 1,150 for the work on Monday 23rd April 18 was informed that they wouldn't be paying a penny as it was deemed wear and tear, what a joke....the components of any car can fail with age so what's the point of a warranty when mechanical failure occurs and someone's opinion dismisses a claim. This car has done barely 5k miles in 10 months and my son Is over 1200 quid out of pocket, when really the safety net of warranty has totally let him down.Avoid,Avoid,Avoid.I have spoken with the FCA and taken a case number and will proceed to the ombudsmen today and then to the Citizens advice Bureau to highlight this bogus scamming of motorists.UPDATE 1/5/2018I replied to your response the very same day, dear oh dear your customer service really is poor when you cant liase between depts.(IN RESPONSE TO AA CUSTOMER SERVICE)
Bought a 3 year old car from a dealership, came with 3 month warranty from AA with the option to extend which sounded great. After about a month of having the car it developed a grinding noise and poor acceleration. We were 200 miles away from home at the time and it was the weekend, contacted AA warranty immediately so I could take it to an approved garage......closed at the weekends, no emergency number!!!! Took it to the local halfords who were an approved garage and they changed the diesel filter and charged me £100 to which they said I could claim back from as warranty. This did nothing to fix the problem with the car, the guy at halfords was clearly incompetent. Monday I contacted AA who told me to take it to another garage, after they had it for a day I was told there would be around £2000 worth of repairs!!! The car was then held at the garage for nearly a week whilst repairs were being done. On the 5th day I got a call from the garage today AA had refused to pay for any costs to the garage. The garage then said I could pay the £1400 in work already carried out and collect my car which was in pieces or pay the £2000 myself. I contact AA warranty immediately for an explanation, just to be told that this particular repair was not covered. Long story short, the dealership paid after I went back there in a very negative mood.AVOID THIS COMPANY. CANNOT BELIEVE THEY ARE PART OF THE AA. I WOULDN'T EVEN TAKE BREAKDOWN COVER WITH AA AFTER THIS.To the AA reply below, don't bother replying. My car has already been sorted by a reputable company.
Had a failure on a water pump on my car, needed to claim on my AA policy- got through to the call centre quickly, where they told me to get it to a garage to get diagnosed (Halfords). They diagnosed the problem and sorted it straight away! Thanks
Bought my car at the start of the year it came with an AA warranty which I thought would be a good thing had to phone up because I had a few problems with my car to be told to to get to a garage what was fine but I had to explain to on the phone what the problem took to the garage where it was clear the garage didn't know what they were doing was wanted to take off my gearbox what I would need to pay for when the problem was my diff lock I think I will just pay to get my car fixed with a garage that knows what they're doing
