Called to test drive a car, explained that we would happily pay more since they're our closer dealer

Called to test drive a car, explained that we would happily pay more since they're our closer dealer but we were pretty sure we wanted it in orange. When we arrived they kept us waiting, then pretended to look for the keys, then after showing us a car admitted they had no intention of allowing us to test drive it because we wouldn't buy it in the other colour. Complete waste of time.

Took my Leaf in for a service at Glyn Hopkin Bishops Stortford today. Not cheap compared to local garages. Requested a courtesy car at online booking and received a confirmation of the service booking on Monday. Clearly stated on that email were the words "courtesy care required". Great, all confirmed I thought. Wrong. Arrived and no courtesy car available. Very rude spivvy looking young man told me it was my fault for misunderstanding the email and I should have read the Ts&Cs! Perhaps the lazy youngster could have phoned me a week ago and told me there would be no courtesy car instead of leaving me to get taxis at the last minute. Basically, they confirm they know you need a courtesy car but don't think they need to actually tell you one isn't available. Poor service!

Disappointing Paint Match for My New Car

I verified the paint match for my new car using my vehicle log book. However, the support team requested my car registration number to ensure compatibility before shipping. I paid over £20 for the paint and around £8 for delivery. Unfortunately, my car is ink dark blue, but I received a very light candy blue instead.

Disappointing experience with a used vehicle purchase

I bought a used vehicle from a dealership and have faced continuous issues. It cost me a significant amount. Initially, I had to replace the filters under warranty shortly after the purchase. By mid-year, the car wouldn't shift into gear, requiring another visit to the garage. They discovered damage to the installation near the gear cables. During a health check, I was informed that I needed new tyres, a timing belt replacement, and that the brakes and clutch required attention. I paid for the brakes and tyres, but now I have additional costs for the clutch and slave cylinder, all of which aren't covered by warranty. Within a year, I've had to spend around £1800 on repairs. I chose a main dealership with the hope of getting a reliable vehicle, but it has been nothing but trouble.

⭐ 1-Star Review — Extremely Disappointing Experience at Glyn Hopkin WatfordI recently purchased two cars together with a friend from Glyn Hopkin Watford, and the entire experience has been extremely frustrating and unprofessional. We agreed to wait three weeks so both cars could be collected together — that was the deal from the start. They scheduled the handover for Sunday, 23rd November, confirming that both cars had arrived. Based on their word, eight of us took time off and planned a day trip with the new cars. However, on Sunday morning they called claiming there was “paperwork issues” and moved the handover to Tuesday morning. We stayed calm and agreed. Then on Monday, they called again saying the cars hadn’t actually arrived and asked us to come Tuesday at 2pm instead. We went at the time they scheduled, only to be told that one of the cars still wasn’t there. They promised it would arrive either later that evening or the next morning. They even gave us a temporary substitute car.Now it’s been two more days, and they are still playing the same game — “morning,” “afternoon,” “evening,” “tomorrow” — with no clear answers. We also have responsibilities and can’t keep waiting around endlessly for the car we paid for. They completely ruined our plan to collect both cars together, something we patiently waited three weeks for. Ironically, they had one of the cars in stock on the very first day, but because we wanted them together, we trusted their timeline.Overall, this has been one of the most disappointing car-buying experiences I’ve ever had. Poor communication, broken promises, and zero respect for customers’ time. I would not recommend Glyn Hopkin Watford to anyone.

UPGRADE

I had previously purchased a MH HS at Glyn Hopkin St Albans and had a positive experience. This time I was contacted by Sameer Gul with a great deal as I am a NHS member of staff. I decided to upgrade my HS to a Hybrid version.Sam was personable and extremely helpful. Always able to answer questions and was at the end of the phone or email when I needed him.Start to finish it was a pain-free and enjoyable experience.Sam is especially recommended...I have already sent on his details to my colleagues! Thanks SAM!

Bought a new MG4 EV in May of ‘23 and used Glynn Hopkins in Mill Hill for the first two annual services. They didn’t do the software updates as requested and a few days after getting the car back in September it started to show an airbag fault. Tried to book it in to be rectified only to be told I’d have to wait nearly two months. Although it’s been a brilliant car with dealers like Glynn Hopkins you are on your own - the car has no real after sales support if you have to wait this many weeks for a service appointment; and when you eventually get one it’s all about the upsell. Brilliant car; rubbish after sales support.

Poor customer service/aftersales

Purchased a used car from East London Branch and once payment made I had to keep phoning garage re collection date after work had to be completed but the main issue is aftersales service. After a week noticed auto stop/start had never worked. Due to location I went to local garage and after test advised it could be low voltage on battery and advised new battery may resolve issue. Contact East London and they said they would not replace battery or offered to do any diagnostic to resolve fault. The car had done less than 100 miles since collection and fault was there on delivery so should be down to them to resolve but do not seem interested once cars are sold. I wonder what pre delivery inspection/service was done prior to collection. This will now cost me to sort out which is not acceptable after 1 week. As a large main dealer I expect a better service from them as this is why I usually buy from main dealers but seems Glyn Hopkins are lacking in this area

Poor sales staff

Made an appointment to view a second hand Juke at Colchester branch, only to arrive at the dealers to be told it had been sold after having traveled a good distance to see the car. The salesman unwilling to show us a similar model so we could get an idea of what the cars interior was like . No demonstrator available even if we bought new ,worst main dealer experience I have had, good luck selling cars if this is how you treat potential customers. The Juke is still showing it is for sale and you can still reserve it for £99, come on get your act together!Just a recent update, the same car is still being advertised for sale a week after I was told it had been sold .
