I have had a running Christmas present subscription for Country Life for mother for a number of years. I was reminded last year by an email for a re-subscription which I agreed to for another two years through the link provided. The magazine was sent to me (in France) instead of my mother (in the UK) and when I sent an initial complaint on 31 Jan i was told I had more than one account and so they merged the accounts and changed the delivery address to my mother’s address and that she would receive the magazine from 12th Feb and onwards. It is not clear to me how this can have happened as I used the resubscription link that they had provided in the email. No magazines have been received (in France or in UK) since the change they said they had made and I have sent a number of emails and complained on the online system but have received no response - not even a response to say they would get back to me. I find their lack of response surprising considering I have paid for two years subscription.
Terrible company. They don’t send you any information when you initially subscribe and so you have no reminders when the magazine auto renews neither do you have any information to contact them. They replied to my initial email when I asked for my money back but they refused to answer correctly just stated that my subscription will continue to renew. I have since sent 4 emails with no reply, just their auto reply saying they will get back to me so they clearly have no intention of resolving my complaint and so I will be referring them to Trading Standards. DO NOT set up a subscription with this company. Their customer service is beyond dire.

Was given a six issue gift subscription to Country Life magazine, special offer price of £6, not a lot of money I know. The first two issues arrived, 6 days late. After that, nothing. Contacted Magazines Direct, and they said they’d sort it out. A few days later, they send me another two issues of the same ones I already had. Nothing at all since. Contacted both MD and County Life, who basically couldn’t be bothered. I think the six issues for £6 was a scam. They never intended to give you that deal, unless you carried on with a full 52 issues. Avoid this company, they don’t answer emails, and it’s almost impossible to get through on the phone. Absolutely appalling company to deal with. They take ages to respond, and when they do they don't listen to your problems properly, so end up making things worse, they'll even attempt to gaslight you to make you go away. AVOID. EDIT 17/1: when they realise they're about to lose you as a customer, you hear from someone higher up who is actually quite helpful and does actually try to listen and respond. So, some credit for that, I lift my review from a 1 to a 2. But I would still be VERY wary of dealing with the regular customer service advisors, just awful and don't seem to care a jot.
