The dehumidifier I hired through National Tool Hire was absolutely useless. I emailed them after a couple of days of a 7 day hire to request a replacement machine. They didn't actually reply until after the period of hire had ended. At that point I asked for some compensation, they gave me nothing, saying that their supplier Edge Equipment Hire told them everything was fine with the machine. It wasn't.
My hire was returned on 18/12/2025 it is now 11/02/2026 and no deposit has been returned. I have tried contacting them and when you do actually get to talk to a person they just fob you off. I would avoid this company at all costs they need to be investigated via Action fraud.
I ordered both a ladder and a tower, paying extra for morning delivery on a specific day. However, on delivery day, customer service ignored my messages, demonstrating very poor service. The delivery came much later in the day, and the ladder was missing. Since I needed both items to complete my job, I was unable to proceed and had to urgently rent the equipment the next day from a reliable provider. I strongly recommend avoiding this company.
I placed an order for 2 large pressure washers on December 15th for a job starting on the 27th. The order went through without issues, and nearly £1400 was deducted from my account. However, late on the 22nd, I was informed they could not fulfill my order, leaving me with no time to find the equipment elsewhere. The refund process is expected to take up to 7 working days.
Extremely disappointing experience. They charged a £30 administration fee to change a hire date and a £29.40 non-refundable waiver that offers no real value, plus £11 for fuel. That adds up to £71 in 'non-refundable charges' for a rotavator before even considering the hire fees! Authorities should investigate this company.

A week prior, I was informed that Saturday was not possible, and it was pushed to Friday the 19th, but only if it arrived before 1pm. They confirmed but then failed to deliver. I waited from 6am until 8pm with no delivery, no call, and no explanation. Customer service promised updates but never followed through. My neighbor has a door camera—there was no attempt to deliver. To make matters worse, the company is closed over the weekend, meaning I likely won’t receive the equipment until next week, ruining my schedule. This has caused me significant stress and financial loss. I planned around this delivery to complete renovations for my husband’s return after a stroke, and their unreliability has made the situation much worse. No delivery, no accountability, no professionalism—this company cannot be trusted. Avoid at all costs.
Delivery was fine, and the equipment was in good condition. However, the pick-up was terrible. It was supposed to be picked up two days ago but was rescheduled by them for today. The driver called and said it couldn’t be done and refused to contact the office for me. Attempts to reach the office resulted in no response. I still have to store the equipment, which is hindering public events.
While the costs are high, which I can accept due to prompt supply, the collection process is problematic. They require a 5-day window for collection without notifying the day or time. This means someone must be available for up to 5 full days. Missing the collection incurs additional hire and collection fees. I offered to return the tower but was not informed where until I agreed to return by 5pm, risking additional costs if the location was far. Please consider other reviews carefully before hiring from this company.
Extremely unsatisfactory! I wish I had checked the reviews before engaging with them. They are unreliable, unresponsive, and significantly more expensive than other providers. Our mistake for not researching properly—we needed a dehumidifier urgently. The service failed, and we had to hire elsewhere without getting a refund. Be cautious, as this company appears to prioritize profit over customer satisfaction.
