Ordered my bean and tomato seeds on April the 10th of this year. “2020” here it it is May the 4th. Still no order to my house. I’ve contacted their customer service department several times. Only to find out my green bean seeds were on back order. Why didn’t the man whom I placed my order with tell me they were out of stock?in my mind it’s s pretty crappy seed company
This is the second time in which I have ordered seeds from Park Seed. If you want to order seeds, do so at least 3 to 4 weeks before you want to receive the seeds. If you do this, you won't be totally upset that they take so long to prepare your order. In addition, you should also figure that half of the seeds will not germinate. The previous year I had a zero percent germination of my hybrid marigold flowers. Park Seed was good and sent me another package of seeds, albeit a month after I wanted to get them planted. This year I had a 33% germination rate of my marigold seeds. Note, this is in a greenhouse with a heat lamp, so it is a very controlled environment.
I ordered seed on March 29. As of May 1, they have not even been shipped. After repeated contacts, I was told that the green beans had been backordered, causing the whole order to be delayed. I asked to have everything else sent and the beans sent later and was told that the company does not split orders. I have never dealt with a business that did not notify me that my order was delayed and why. They should have done that and given me the option of cancelling the beans and get them somewhere else. Failing that, they should have sent everything else. The plants I wanted to start indoors are now late. The early season seeds are late going into the garden. Never again. Park seeds is blocked on my e-mail and any future catalogs are going directly into the trash. To add insult, they kept sending e-mails encouraging me to order more seeds!
I was really worried after I ordered seeds and then started reading reviews on line as most of them were less than stellar. I have to say though, my order though not arriving together but in three separate shipments was delivered in a timely manner especially considering all that is going on. It took a total of maybe 12 days to receive my order in total. When I called customer service they were courteous and helpful. Would I have liked to receive it all at once or without needing customer service assistance? Of course. We are living in a different world then we were a few months ago. We as consumers have become accustomed to getting exactly what we want, exactly when we want it. Understanding that businesses are struggling, as the people are, to fulfill their commitments should reshape, at least temporarily, our patience and the limitations to providing the excellent speed and responstivity we have adopted as the norm
I don' think it's quite fair to be critical of companies right now for taking longer to get shipments out to us than prior to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Supply chains are disrupted, workers are out sick or out because their ill family members or children need care at home. But I'm not here to bust anyone else's review, I'm here to leave my experience. I found the website very easy to navigate and full of good information. Many items were sold out, and there was an explanation that they are experiencing higher orders due to the pandemic and people wanting to garden during stay-at-home orders, and to be more self sufficient which I am excited to hear. My shipment arrived with everything present but one item was slightly damaged. I called and received a person within 13 mins on hold, which during this pandemic, is really good response time. The customer service agent was super pleasant, replaced my damage item and is having it shipped out to me right away. I felt like she went above and beyond. I would give the 5 stars if the product had not arrived damaged but given all the positive aspects of doing business, I'm giving 4 stars and they will have my repeat business!
never again will I buy seeds from Parks. I planted the tomato seeds as soon as they arrived in peat pellets. they were all leggy and wilted and so I planted again and the same thing. after two months none of the jalapenos have germinated and I will never buy seeds from them again. I had better luck last year buying seeds at Rural King. Now I have to go to a nursery and buy plants.
