I had a monthly pledge to a Patreon creator. She offered a free pattern but never responded. I cancelled but neglected to remove my payment method AND neglected to cancel at Paypal. Patreon charged me for the next month. Disputed at Paypal. Patreon said I cancelled too late. My access to that creator's content is now blocked (since I cancelled, duh!) but I've paid for the next month. There is no way to get help from Patreon (only offers how-to for members; help only offered to creators) or send a complaint about a creator. I'm so sorry I ever signed up to Patreon. I appealed my case at Paypal...just waiting to hear back
I paid for a subscription just to be charged again 8 hours later.I made sure to start the subscription the first of the month to avoid that problem, but still, they charged me for another month...NEVER AGAIN!
So far VERY unimpressed. I am a creator, opened a Patreon account, they let me in no problems first couple weeks, then I get some subscribers, immediately, they want me to authenticate my email. No problems, but there are. The link they send for verification NEVER works. Tried five browsers, three machines, the link is always down. And the support, seems pretty clueless. May be looking for an alternative rather quickly, am not impressed at all.
Patreon is a scammer. We signed up for an annual patronage. At the end of the annual subscription, they billed us for the renewal before notifying us. We'd planned to not renew the patronage. When we contacted them they refused to refund us and told us to contact the person we were supporting. But they'd cut off our access to him on our membership page, so there's no way to contact him. After a couple of weeks of back and forth, they still haven't refunded us. And getting in touch with them in the first place was almost impossible. It took two days of tracking down phone numbers before we were able to speak to a person, but that person told us the same bad information that the email "support" people gave us. We're disputing the credit card charge and will take them to court. I've never dealt with such lazy and stupid customer support people before. It makes me never want to patronize anyone on Patreon. What a shame.
When you sign up to a Patreon membership they tell you that if you cancel in the middle of your membership period, you will always get acces until then end of the already paid period. but you get all acces removed at once. this is what I call cheating/scam
Patreon keeps cancelling my Patreon account, saying it was by my request, then all my subscriptions to contributors are also cancelled and to get back in I have to create the account again and pay my Patreon contributions all over again. Load of rubbish I am finished with them.
I've been using Patreon for years now and I'm very surprised about these negative reviews.True, their customer service isn't fast and it can be better, but they're a young start-up trying their best and doing great things to help creators too.The content is great and the membership works fine. If you become a member by accident or want to cancel and can't find it you can always ask the creator to refund you. It will immediately cancel your membership instantly. And you'll get all your money back.I've tried it and it works fine. I'm a fan and will stay there for sure. Also talk to the creator if something isn't how you want it. They're also eager to help.
Patreon conned me out of my money. I cancelled a membership but it showed in my membership listing still. i tried 6 times to cancel before contacting patreon support whom notified me that cos i have time left on it that will show untill the last day and then remove. That day came and i was charged for the year again. I do not recommend Patreon to any creator as theior process can ensure fans turn on creators due to this con.Customer service is inpersonal and scripted. I will be removing my account and all the support i give to other creators of which is sad because of this incident.There are better alternatives.
