Review Time
Bad experience all around. I signed up in February; we are now in March and I am still receiving the "we need more information" emails. The first issue came up when the expressed that they needed all previous medical history. My dog is adopted; so I only have the medical history since she has been with me. I sent them everything I had for her but they were having trouble getting info from one vet. They explicitly told me that that was the last piece of information they needed and then they would be able to begin the underwriting. After a number of back and forth with both the vet and customer service I was able to get that info from the vet to them. As soon as that was submitted I received yet another "we need more information" email.I emailed them saying "this is ridiculous, please cancel my plan and refund me everything I have paid up until this point." I believe this ask is fair due to the fact that her coverage was never active since the underwriting was never completed. I got yet another automated reply saying "your pets coverage was active from Feb until July and you are not owed anything. Additionally; you are not assigned a dedicated account manager so every time you call in or email you are talking to someone new; someone who knows nothing about your account. I only signed up with this account because my company started promoting "hub" and they were a vendor listed in hub. Not only am I leaving this review; but I am escalating this to hub as well. Stay away from this company, far, far away. RUN don't walk. I wish I would have read all the reviews before I had signed up.
The worst, absolutely the worst pet insurance company there ever is. STAY AWAY! Do not put your loving family member through this, they will even deny the funeral costs.Our Siberian Husky had only an ear infection around 10 years old, other than that he has never had a problem in his entire life, not even sick once. He has been healthy since day 1, and we had him from 6 weeks old. Once he turned 10 years old we decided that we should look into insurance for him as he is now hitting old age (yes it's more expensive getting insurance when they are older). We shopped around for a while and found through our Costco membership they provide Pet Insurance through Pets Plus Us, so we decided to go with them.Shortly after our Husky turned 11 he developed arthritis. He progressively got worse over the next year, and after turning 12 and 2 months old, he could no longer move and couldn't get up from the ground, he could only stay there laying on one side.This whole stressful time of our beloved boy going through this horrendous ordeal, Pets Plus Us has denied every single claim. They said this is a pre-existing condition, even though the only problem he ever had was an ear infection.We had to euthanize our beloved boy, tears are in my eyes as I think of this, but we could not be so selfish in wanting to keep him in our lives, we had to look at the pain and suffering he is going through every day, and now not being able to move, that's no way for him to live, I wish he was still here, but this pain I feel for his loss is better on me, rather than having him suffer. But, guess what I just received - A DENIAL of the claim that we put in for the euthanization expenses, stating that we had to euthanize him due to a pre-existing condition - again we don't know where they are getting this pre-existing condition from, he was fine until he developed arthritis after we already had the insurance policy in place.They have taken over $2000 of ours in insurance premiums, and not payed us a single penny towards healthcare of our pet (We also bought the highest plan they have). For that year, that he had arthritis we paid out of pocket for all the medications he required, we were paying $100s a month trying everything we could to make him better, his quality of life better. so not only were we paying $100s a month, but Pets Plus Us were also taking their premiums from us and happily denying all claims sent to them.You are better off keeping your money, at least that will go towards the medical costs and unfortunately funeral costs for your beloved family member, OR please find a different Pet Insurance company that will take care of your beloved family member, they deserve at least this much for loving you so much.
I have been with company for 12 yrs and I have never put a claim in, I have 2 dogs with them, a 12 yr old and 10 yr old, put got sick in 2020, I put a claim in back in September, here is Feb, and they are still jerking me around, but they have no problem taking my money for the last 12 yrs, month after month, everytime I call its a different excuse, wish I had read the reviews of this company before I signed up with them, so people please read the reviews of this company and judge accordingly, I've read all the reviews and they all seem to say the same thing, they are glad to take your money every month but not good about paying reimbursements even with all the proper documents. Please be aware ,
Signed up when my pups were 4 months old. Did what was asked. They take my money each month but whenever I submit a claim they day there is not enough paperwork. I do not know what they want as they have all my paperwork. The pups are young so there isn’t that much to send. I’m totally frustrated. What a waste of time and money.
Most unreliable insurance company , i bought a plan through Costco website as i am a costco member and their offer discount but they drive you mad , Their underwriter Northbridge insurance is crazy and not pet friendly , they just want 100% security for their money . They started deducting premium from my credit card for months and didn't underwrite the policy and after i asked them they started gathering old medical documents and finally after 3 months made the policy with so many exclusions that it become useless .ADVICE : STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY
My only reason for signing up for pet health insurance was to have dental care for my dog (I have had this type of breed my whole life and dental was my only health concern) I was going to go with a basic $40 per month plan, but because dental was my concern the rep on the phone told me to go for this $70 plan, that she had her pet on and had already claimed a dental cleaning. I really think that when someone calls in for dental coverage your reps shouldn’t tell them that dental is covered when it isn't. I have looked back on my notes from when I was calling around to different pet insurance places and I had written down in the notes from your rep- she told me my plan covered dental and extractions. As I stated before this was the ONLY reason I signed up for pet insurance. I have now paid over $1000 in insurance fees for absolutely no reason and wish that I would have went with another company that actually does what they say they will as now my dogs teeth are considered a pre-exsisting condition. This company is a complete scam, do not get insurance with them.
