I contacted customer services a few…

I contacted customer services a few weeks ago and presented a few fairly significant ongoing issues. Having spoken to staff many times, I was given the impression the issues were due to be resolved, but I'd waited over six months and nothing seemed to be changing. It was nice that I got a reply from customer services, but the tone was very dismissive and I felt the points I raised had fallen on deaf ears. Oh, and whilst I'm getting things off my chest, the price for a badminton court is over £14 and that's even for a member paying between £40-£50 per month! Is that the going rate these days?! My goodness, playing sport to keep fit is damn expensive (no wonder obesity is such a problem in the UK). Also, the indoor football often over-runs and the badminton nets are not put up in time for the start – and the staff seem unable to do anything about this. The app has been improved and now runs faster, but the way in which the 'waiting list' for fully booked sessions is handled is ridiculous and frustrating. The staff are all friendly and approachable, but I wouldn't recommend this organisation any longer. I will be seeking a new leisure centre when I get the time to look into it.

Deben - not a great first visit

My first visit to Deben Leisure at Woodbridge pool today. Was just trying before deciding which membership to buy having just moved here. Unfortunately it may be my last visit too; the changing room floor was filthy and the pool itself was not pleasant. There was a plaster floating in the water, bits of hair floating around and assorted debris on the floor of the pool. It was a free swim session but a good number of the teenagers were playing in the showers and not in the pool at all. Other people in the changing rooms were commenting on the noise and fuss. Very disappointed.

Why do you need a membership fee

Why do you need a membership fee? – I have a visitor who wanted to train with me for one month during their stay – Places Leisure said that was not allowed unless they paid a membership fee – why do you need a membership fee? – surely you should be encouraging people to live a healthy life and exercise – I don’t see why you need a membership fee. You’re not a private club your local government facility that should be encouraging people to participate . If you want to be a private club, go off and build yourself one that’s not funded by my rates.

Very disappointing booking experience

Very disappointing booking experience – twice cancelled without proper notice! The booking system and the way cancellations are handled are really disappointing. The management should seriously review how they deal with customers — it caused so much inconvenience and frustration.
