Mixed Experience at Rixos Abu Dhabi

I stayed at Rixos Abu Dhabi when it first opened 7 years ago, and it was truly exceptional back then, definitely a 5-star experience. Recently, we returned on November 17th to celebrate my 60th birthday with my wife and six family members, booking four rooms for a total of £17,000. We arrived around 10:30 AM, but to our surprise, no rooms were ready, which was unusual for this region. I've been visiting Dubai annually for the past 20 years and have never encountered this issue. By 3 PM, only one room was prepared, and the others missed the check-in time, requiring us to ask multiple times. The suited staff were quite unhelpful and impolite, a stark contrast to my previous visit. I could elaborate further, but I want to highlight that the bar staff, cleaners, pool bar employees, and any staff not in suits were excellent, while the food was just average.

Rixos Abu Dhabi, stayed in this when it first opened 7 years ago and it was amazing it was definitely 5*.So we went back in November 17th for my 60th birthday with my wife and 6 family members, so we had 4 rooms and spend £17000 on the trip.We got there about 10.30ish and were told no rooms where ready at all which was so unusual for this part of the world, I’ve been going Dubai for the last 20 years every year never had this issue anyway 3 o’clock comes & 1 room is ready and then didn’t the other pass check in time which even had to keep asking.Suited staff were all terrible and not polite at all a massive difference from my first visit, if I’m honest I could write so much more and not a lot would be good, but I would like to say the bar staff, cleaners, pool bar staff and any staff that were not wearing suits were brilliant, food was ok

Never again — Completely unacceptable experience

If I could give zero stars, I would. We booked and paid in full for our stay at a hotel through a booking platform ten days before arrival. Everything seemed fine — confirmation and payment were complete. However, upon arrival, the hotel staff couldn't locate our reservation. We were asked to wait while they checked, which turned into over three hours in the lobby, completely ignored by management. No apologies, no water offered, and no effort to assist us. The staff were cold and unprofessional — not at all what you expect from a so-called luxury resort. Instead of resolving the issue, the hotel suggested we could pay for a one-night stay with a warning that if the problem wasn't fixed, the payment wouldn't be refunded. This is outrageous behavior for any hotel. Later, we learned the hotel had overbooked and failed to inform the booking service in advance, revealing the issue only when guests arrived. To make matters worse, a significant portion of the hotel was closed for renovations, with loud construction noise during the day, and no prior notice given. Guests are paying premium prices for a place that resembles a construction site. After wasting hours, we had to leave and find another hotel at our own expense. This hotel lacks hospitality and feels more like a money trap than a luxury experience. Avoid it if you value your time and peace of mind.

All-inclusive experience

We booked an all-inclusive package but found limited options for vegetarians as the chef used the same utensils for vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The fries were mixed together, and the gloves were not changed. The pool area was too small, and we had to wait about half an hour for the lift during breakfast and lunch. The prices were very high compared to other nearby hotels, and the service did not meet expectations.

Stayed at Rixos Premium BodrumWe could not fault the attentive genuine staff, could not have been better. Although our weather was unpredictable, the hotel and area was so relaxing and easy to get around, quick familiarisation with the help of personalised service. Food was outstanding and the gym facilities were exceptional! Cannot wait to return will choose a sunnier month

Rixos Dubrovnik doesn't meet 5-star standards

I stayed at Rixos Dubrovnik for ten days. The room had a great sea view but lacked a sun awning, making it too hot to enjoy during the day. The room needs updating, although the beds were comfortable. While the service was good, many guests avoided the bar terrace due to high prices. The hotel has become more of a transit stop for cruise ship passengers, leading to a lack of atmosphere. Evening entertainment was limited, and meals were expensive, with dinner costing £50 each. The food quality was good, but for the price we paid, we could have enjoyed a much longer stay at a true 5-star hotel elsewhere. The pool area was overcrowded, and the local taxi fares were exorbitant. Overall, it was an okay experience, but it felt like guests were being taken advantage of.

Disappointing experience upon arrival

We just arrived at a hotel and immediately faced issues with the staff's attitude. As a frequent guest of this hotel chain, I expected better treatment. They requested an extra tip for early check-in but then placed us in a far-off room. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, they ignored my concerns. The pool's jacuzzi was non-functional, and the guest relations team was unhelpful. I had mentioned food allergies, but the only suggestion was to pay for an a la carte restaurant, which is not standard in many hotels. The kids' club and water slides were lacking in activities, and the overall service fell short of expectations. While the beach club service was good, the reception staff did not understand what five-star service entails. This experience has soured my holiday mood, and I plan to share my concerns widely.

Rixos Abu Dhabi

Rixos Abu Dhabi is an amazing hotel where I have stayed six times. Everything about this hotel is wonderful. The decor is beautiful, the gardens are lovely, and the rooms are extremely clean. The food is excellent, and both the poolside and beach areas are great. The staff is exceptional, especially one team member who provided outstanding service. My daughter and I had a wonderful time.

Rixos Dubrovnik fails to deliver 5-star service

My stay at this hotel was one of the poorest I've experienced in a five-star setting. The location and facilities were fine, but the service was the worst I've encountered. We waited four hours for our room to be ready and ended up spending money on tasteless drinks. Upon returning to our room at 3 PM, it still wasn't cleaned. The hotel cares so much about the environment that they don't provide teaspoons, forcing guests to stir their drinks with their fingers. While breakfast was good, being seated without napkins was frustrating. It’s unacceptable to wait over 20 minutes for coffee or tea. After traveling frequently, I never anticipated such poor service at a premium hotel. I will not return and advise others to choose a different hotel for a pleasant holiday.

One of the worst so-called 5-star hotels

We had one of the worst experiences at this so-called 5-star hotel. We checked in after our wedding and were given a 'sea view' room that smelled bad, was old, and had a noisy broken AC. We had to change rooms, and rather than a proper solution, we were given two single beds pushed together. The beach situation was poor; if you didn't wake up early, you couldn't find a sunbed. The service was mediocre, drinks were overpriced and watered down, and Wi-Fi barely worked. Everything felt overpriced for what we received. Having stayed at many true five-star hotels worldwide, this place does not compare. We will never return.
