I called when I was interrupted before I had a chance to swallow a handful of pills. I decided to call the Samaritans and, after waiting for about 5 minutes, finally had a chance to talk to someone. A soft voice said 'hello how can i help'. When I explained what happened, there was silence. I said 'hello?' and they said 'yes'. I said 'I just don't know what to do'. They said nothing. I said 'hello?' And then said 'yes'. That was it. I called a good friend that talked me down.Useless and completely disengaged.
As a combat veteran I was at a low and I made a mistake of trying to ring these so called samaritans and no one answered they are left wing socialists who when a real male leader arrives will sort these left wing traitors people these samariaS don't care they are to busy helping illegal immigrants get help to take over our country🖕🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Tried to talk about my eating disorder and was told well what are you doing about it. I said I was worried my boyfriend might be suffering from the same thing and was showing early signs and was told to call the nhs. Not well handled.
I called Samaritans, feeling quite lonely and thought I'd have a chat, unwind and get some stuff off my chest while I knitted. I said to the guy "Hiya, I'd just like to get some stuff off my chest while I knit, I promise I won't be much of a bother!" Then I was met with "You don't call Samaritans while knitting, goodbye." Then he hung up.The next guy was obviously better, although it sounded similar to the first so I didn't bring up the knitting thing. Got the stuff off my chest, was feeling better and then talked about my aspirations to work in a plant shop and be a little assistant because I found it calming. I was then at that point called "so naive to think that others will be calm in the shop" and "a hippie", then at one point I mentioned the prices of the plants and he mentioned that I "think the people with all the lovely money are going to be the nicest" then called me "classist". He was talking down to me and called me condescending. I live in a very poor city, people typically cannot afford the prices of the plant shop I'd like to work at which makes the shop very quiet and calm which is why I want to work there. Not because I'm condescending and classist and naive. I felt quite hurt after the call.
I called on Saturday night, distraught, trying to find a reason to not carry out my plan, I had drank a hideous amount of alcohol, I had said goodbye to my family and friends. A very young girl answered the phone, I started explaining my situation, she stopped me and said "oh you're drunk... carry on" so I tried to carry on while she chewed down the phone saying "uh huh" every now and again. I then said she sounded bored and she replied "yeah" I'd assume if you volunteer to help people that you want to help people, this is not the case.
When you are feeling at your lowest or most vulnerable and you see a sign saying to give the samaritans a call... for a convicted paedophile, currently serving time inside, answers the phone. This doesn't really sit right with me. A person proven to have the worst morale compass and decision making skills - in my opinion, shouldn't be giving advice to the general public. Sort it out Samaritans!
APPALLING. Took me a while to get through and when I did I tried to explain my situation to someone who clearly had hearing problems. I know it wasn’t the phone line as I could hear her very clearly. I was very distressed already and ended up virtually shouting to try and get her to hear me. Ended up hanging up. Thought it was a one-off bad experience so tried calling back. The next person was useless as well and I hung up again. There are no mental health crisis services available now. What the hell are people supposed to do? Shocking that people even suggest The Samaritans as an option. 😕
