Orders keep being canceled

Placed two orders, Sierra without prompting canceled both of them. They claim my billing info could not be verified but each time I triple checked that all my info was right. I think that it's because my shipping address is different from my billing, but of course customer service was unhelpful and wouldn't tell me what the actual problem was. Edit: even though they canceled my orders because they claimed they couldn't verify my billing details, they still fully charged me for both of my orders and have not given me a refund. AVOID!

Mistakes made by Sierra are costly in terms of customer time

Apparently Sierra Trading Post has attached itself to a conglomerate of companies including TJMax. In any case, I placed orders with Sierra.Com. The first couple of orders were fine. I purchased shoes that I needed at a big discount. Later, I purchased running shoes for my daughter for Christmas: Saucony Progrid Triumph 4 Running shoes in unisex sizing. I think the problems might have been linked to the unisex sizing. I placed an order for a Women's size 7/Men's size 5.5. What I received was a pair of Men's size 4 and Women's size 5.5. I did not realize the mistake until actually gifting them to my daughter. I went onto the Sierra Web site to set up a return. Returns can be made directly with their stores, but there are none in our area. I found their site very confusing to set up a return. Part of the problem might have been related to my never really setting up an account with them. I'd simply checked out through Paypal. I sent an email to Sierra's customer service asking for help. Their response was very complicated and confusing. Eventually, I received more than one response from different agents with one contradicting another. I did receive a return mailing label from one agent which I appreciated, since others were telling me I'd have to pay for shipping myself in advance. Bear in mind, this mistake was made by them. I decided to open up a case with Paypal instead of going it on my own. I laid out all of the facts in the case. Sierra was slow responding, and when they did respond, they made a low ball offer of considerably less than I paid for the shoes. That wasn't right, so I refused their offer. Paypal made me aware that the offer would go away if I rejected it, but I rejected it anyway. I was never able to find out why Sierra offered less than I paid for the shoes. It could be because there was another paid of shoes that cost less within the same order and they were confused. Or perhaps they discounted it because they took off for the shipping label. I was never really told why. Sierra continued taking their time and not refunding. I was asked by Paypal to add a photo which I did. Only one I had was showing the box label that indicated the size that I was sent by Sierra. Luckily, I took the photo prior to shipping the shoes back to them. The return process began shortly after Christmas at the end of December. Tracking shows that Sierra received the shoes by, I believe it was, January 7th, 2026. Regardless of Sierra's having the shoes back in their possession, their next request made to me through Paypal (well into February) was that I needed to ship them back and they would refund the requested amount. I attached the shipping information including tracking and delivery onto the Paypal case. Then I waited and waited. I'm not sure if Sierra ever agreed to the total refund and acknowledged that they received the shoes. It would appear that Paypal looked at the details of the case and found in my favor. I'm grateful to Paypal for their help, but this whole process became very time consuming and was drawn out much to long due to the failures of Sierra. I could understand and forgive the original mistake of sending me the wrong size of shoes. Mistakes like that can happen. What I can't forgive is their lack of processing the return in any sort of easy and comprehensive fashion. It's as though one department of Sierra does not talk to another department, and all of their agents are on separate pages. The return process began at the end of December. I did not receive my refund until February 14th, 2026, and then, only with the help of Paypal. That's much longer time frame than it should have been. Plus, there was never any hint of an apology for messing up my gifting and wasting my time.

Customer service is terrible.

I had to return two items. Rather than credit it back to my card, they issued a store credit. I called to have it put back on my card, and was told it would be done. I've done this four times with four "customer service reps" and each time, the new person seems to have no idea about the previous call. Customer service is terrible.

Placed order 9/11/25

Placed order 9/11/25. It's 9/25/25 and still don't have my order. This company uses FedEx and I have had 4 emails for 4 days it was going to be delivered. None of which happened. I will never order from them again. I will dispute the charges on my credit card tomorrow. If the package comes they think I'm going to pay to return it. Sorry you hired fedex not me if they can't do the job It's between you and fedex. I don't have a horse in that race. I will not pay to return items after I dispute the charges. That is if they come at all. I'm not paying for fedex short comings. I have already ordered from tractor supply the items needed they have already been delivered. They were delivered 3 days after I ordered them. So I don't need your products now. I spent 1000s a year at this online store. Never again.

20.00 to try on a pair of sandals.

Ordered Teva sandals in same size Teva I already have. Sandal arrived and was huge. There was a return label with the shipment and I used that thinking it was prepaid so I returned them the same day they arrived. I was hit with shipping both ways. Basically it cost me $20.00 to try on a pair of sandals. I know I didn't read the fine print. They will never be recommended or used again. This is why people go to Amazon for everything.

The online experience is egregious and I placed my order and I got an email saying that they canceled my order without any information about a refund along with this cancellation so I go re-order the items that I want and they were all in stock and upon the checkout, the math didn’t add up and they were charging more Per shipment tax and items then the reality of what it would add up to so it just seems like a total scam and I’m really unhappy with this

Still Waiting
Avoid ship to Store - You’ve been warned

Customers beware if you plan to order online and shipping to their store for pick up better have a 3 week window for you to receive your order and that is according to a Store Manager and that is the awful truth . I love this store but I think I will skip the online to store shipment. I wouldn’t trust the online store either even if shipping is not free.

Horrible customer service

I purchased a pair of shorts at the Sierra Trading Post store on 8/8/25. On 8/9/25 I noticed the exact same pair of shorts was on sale for $7 less. I called the manager of the store and she said as long as the item code was the same, I could get a price match and credit. I went to a STP store on 8/15/25 and they refused to honor the promise made by their manager and they were rude and condescending. They said it is not their policy. I wrote a complaint to STP customer service and they also stated that's just "not something that they do." It's not really the money, but the principle--the manager agreed to honor the price, it was the exact same pair of shorts with the exact same product code, discovered within 12 hours and they refuse to even give a store credit. Their solution was for me to return the item and buy it again, incurring more shipping and extra charges.

They advertised a product they didn’t have. After taking my order for a Vortex scope and confirming it with email, I received another email 30 minutes later cancelling the order. Won’t make that mistake again. Too bad I couldn’t give them no-stars rating. I’ll treat TJMax the same.
