Didn't provide advanced Pro features during trial as advertised. Provided no way to cancel trial before being charged. Emailed before cancellation date to advise of the issue of having no way to cancel on the account site. They didn't respond till after they had charged me for 1 month. Refusing to credit me back. Filed dispute with bank.

Any normal company would recognize that as a clear signal of intent to cancel. Not Smallpdf.Here’s the kicker: PayPal is perfectly acceptable to authorize your payment when you sign up—but when you want to cancel, suddenly it doesn’t count. That’s right. They accept your money through PayPal, but ignore your cancellation through the very same platform. This blatant double standard is not just unfair—it’s unethical.Instead, they charged me €90 anyway. Their excuse? “You didn’t cancel through our website.” Because apparently, canceling the actual payment via PayPal isn’t “proactive” enough for them. Ridiculous.When I contacted support, I was met with robotic, condescending replies that simply reworded the same boilerplate: You didn’t click the right cancel button in the right place, so it’s your fault. No empathy, no accountability, and absolutely no intention of doing right by the customer.They treat users like walking credit cards: once they’ve got your payment method, all they care about is enforcing policies—not resolving anything with integrity or fairness.This experience made it abundantly clear that Smallpdf profits from people forgetting or misunderstanding the cancellation process, and they deliberately make it harder than necessary. There’s no warning before they charge you. No flexibility. No customer care. Just "gotcha" tactics.I’ve never felt more scammed by a so-called “professional” service. Their support team hides behind terms and conditions like a cowardly legal shield, refusing to take responsibility even when their systems ignore revoked payment consent.Avoid this company like the plague. There are plenty of PDF tools out there that don’t treat customers like targets. Such as ILovePDF, or PDF-XChange Editor. Smallpdf is not one of them.Shameful business.Never again.
They have wonderful tools, which can be used within limits for free. There's also a paid subscription. My problem with them is that their login and website go down frequently, disabling access to the advanced tools. This has happened several times when I really needed to access for time-sensitive document preparation.
Small pdf app has wrongfully debited my bank account by tricking me to register and put in my card details, I was debited a subscription fee that I never sanctioned, I laid a complaint to their customer support but they refused to make a refund given flimsy excuse, this app have successfully scammed me if my hade earned money and I need a refund, Every customer has the right to ask for a refund even after buying a product, and most products in the market have a warranty, I have been scammed
Don’t even bother. Terrible company to deal with. Missed the cancellation of the trial by a day and they will not provide any sort of refund. Their business model is loop you into needing to provide credit card information and then if you miss the deadline too bad for you. They must really need the money from the poor individuals who miss the deadline to keep their lights on. The program and their customer support isn’t worth a 7-day free trial let alone a paid for service. If you feel you must try this program, make sure you cancel in time and don’t get suckered out of money like a lot of us here.
