It works absolutely great, the compression rates are on point. Also, it is really easy to go Pro for a month and cancel right away if you only need to use the premium features for a short while. I did this at least 5 times already.
I am extremely disappointed with Smallpdf's refund policy. I was charged 90€ for an annual subscription immediately after my free trial ended. I cancelled the subscription within minutes of the charge and I have NOT used any Pro features since then.
Despite the EU Right of Withdrawal (14-day cooling-off period for unused digital services), Smallpdf is refusing to provide a full refund. They are only offering a partial refund of 56€, citing internal policies that cannot and should not override my legal rights as a European consumer.
I have already opened a dispute on PayPal and I will not accept anything less than a full refund of the 90€ I am owed.
My support request is linked to the same email address used for this Trustpilot account. I also have the PayPal transaction ID ready for verification.
I have limited .DOC to .PDF conversion possibilities at home and this on-line app did the job in no-time.
The GUI is really easy to use, with either drag'n-drop or selecting a file. File size is also quite reasonable.
I am really impressed.
Easy to merge files from different areas of my storage, and lets me know how large the new file will be before I save it, giving me the option to compress as well. A very good tool to have when working with files.
Predatory refund policy - Charged €34 for a same-day cancellation!
I am extremely disappointed with Smallpdf's refund practices. My annual subscription renewed accidentally for €90 today. I contacted support and cancelled ON THE SAME DAY, within hours of the charge, without using any Pro features.
Despite my immediate request, they refused a full refund and kept €34. They are claiming a "30% early termination fee" and charging me for "1 month of use" for a service I cancelled almost immediately. This is an unfair business practice.
Support (Arvie and Michelle) keeps sending automated templates instead of resolving the issue. I demand my remaining €34 back. You can find my case by my account email: [damirgoncar8@gmail.].
Potential users, be careful! They will use "Section 10.1" to take your money even if you cancel 5 minutes after the charge.
This is the best all-around PDF editing and size-compression tool I've ever used. I come back to use the smallpdf at least once a week. It's fast and easy to use with a great UX.
I signed up for a free trial of a digital service and only used it once to evaluate its features. After that, I completely forgot about it due to the lack of clear reminders or notifications regarding the trial's end and the automatic transition to a paid subscription. I was shocked to discover a charge of PHP 710.59 on my card on 12/11/2025. Upon receiving the first payment notification, I quickly accessed my account and cancelled the subscription. I haven’t utilized the service since that initial test. I reached out to the support team to request a refund, detailing that: I used the service only once, I did not receive any notification about the trial ending, I cancelled immediately after seeing the first charge. However, their responses were repetitive and merely directed me back to their Terms and Conditions concerning auto-renewal. There was no consideration for my situation, no goodwill gesture, and no flexibility, despite my clear intention not to maintain a long-term subscription and my minimal usage. For a digital service, I anticipated at least a reminder about the trial's conclusion and a more empathetic response from support, especially regarding the first charge following a trial. Instead, I was left with an unintended charge for a service I barely used. As a result of this experience, I had to dispute the transaction with my bank and file a complaint with the relevant authorities to address such practices. I’m sharing this to inform others: Be cautious with free trials, Don’t expect a reminder when it’s about to end, and Don’t anticipate much flexibility from support if you forget to cancel in time. Personally, I will not use this service again or recommend it to others.
