Cant gift tickets?

Wife works, I am at home recuperating from surgery & buy tickets for Ed Sheeran, for her & her girlfriend (Sorry Ed, I'm more into Rammstein). More fool me for not reading the terms properly, but why cant you buy & gift tickets? Damn stupid if you ask me. I'm sure I'm not the only person in this position. And if you can take money within seconds, why does it take so long to process a refund?
