Hey everyone, just a quick heads-up if you are thinking of ordering from Topo Athletic in the UK.
I bought a pair of running shoes and tried them on briefly indoors to check the fit for a knee issue I have. I sent them back, and their customer service team (specifically Lynne) held onto both my money and the shoes for over three weeks without giving me a single update. I had to constantly chase them just to find out what was going on.
When they finally replied, they told me the shoes were "grubby" from being tried on indoors and refused the refund. Honestly, the tone was incredibly condescending. I've got the shoes back now, but I emailed management on the 9th of March to flag the awful three-week delay and the rude service, and they have completely ignored me.
Save yourself the hassle. If you need to test a shoe for proper fit, buy from a brand with a decent, modern returns policy that actually speaks to you with a bit of respect. I'll definitely be warning the locals down at the Exmouth parkrun to steer clear.

Won't refund because of a bit of dust on the shoes, which could easily be wiped off. I thought it would be a good brand to try out, but I'd caution against buying from them. NOTE: shoes worn indoors for less than 1min, which is typical of trying on in a shop. This is the first time I have ever had this experience so I will stick with other brands from now on.
Topo charges for the initial purchase shipping and for the return shipping. These are $250 shoes, made in China, so their mark-up is huge. It makes absolutely no sense to charge for shipping, especially for returns, when all their competitors don't, if they want to be competitive. Their shoes are great, but I will not be buying again. Online shopping means more frequent returns than in store shopping. If customers need to return a Topo pair and buy a size up or down, they are looking at about $30 in shipping charges. Oh yes, and Topo uses Canada Post, so it doesn't get any worse (5+ business days).
Ive read the other reviews- my experience with Topoathletic in the UK has been brilliant. Their customer service was quick and they went to a lot of trouble to solve my problem. I use my shoes for long distance running, they are by far- the most comfortable shoes I have tried and I have tried most brands over the years. I have seen other people complain of wear- in my experience they wear at exactly the same rate as any other shoe.
I contacted them using their contact form over a month ago. My husband then tried, to see if he had more luck, two weeks ago. Both still waiting. So clearly, we just won't buy from them. Just don't understand why they would ignore cuatomers, which surely they need?
I bought a pair of Topo athletic running shoes last year - very comfy, fit well but had very significant wear on the soles after 500 miles (9 months). I bought an identical pair and these were completely worn through after 3 months (<150 miles). Was told this was normal - the shop had shown the pictures to the rep and no further communication. I have also messaged Topo directly- with no response. Very disappointing.
Topo has THE WORST customer service in any shoe company I’ve ever dealt with in my 40 years. It takes 2-3 emails to get one response. Their shoes are of low quality and have tons of QC issues like paint discoloration, excess glue everywhere, and separation at the sole. I’m sure there are more issues out there as well that people have documented..If you call their customer service number, you’ll get someone working from home that’ll give you half-assed answers and will tell you that they simply don’t have all of the info needed to help you. God forbid you choose USPS shipping like I did and have your package lost. The CS rep told me they she can’t help me with that because Topo doesn’t give them corporate access to USPS. Awesome. All of their shoes are Made in China, and it sure as hell looks like it. For a $150 of your hard earned money, it’s simply not worth it. I bought the Phantom 4’s and QC is horrid. The CEO Tony Post is a guy about greed. Absolutely zero investment into customer service at all, and they will tell you that it takes them 6 weeks to inspect your return in order to issue you a refund.I won’t ever spend a single dime with this company again.
I purchased the MT-5 women’s shoes and found that the shoe was already beginning to tear after six months of use. I used these shoes on occasional runs and gym trips, nothing too strenuous. I tried to contact customer service for a refund but was told I’d have to pay to ship my shoes for an assessment, which would take up to 6 weeks. When I asked what would happen after the ‘assessment’ I never received a reply. Disappointing, as I liked the shoes’ build but it’s not worth the price if it’s already falling apart.
I bought these after watching a video by a physio on You tube recommending Topo shoes for bunions. I've knocked one star off because 1. they come up ridiculously small (I had to go up a full size and should possibly have gone up a size and a half), 2. the first pair took quite a while to come (though the second pair came very quickly), 3. I had to pay £5.50 to return the first pair (which is apparently subsidised, really?! By how much, 5p?!) and 4. the only way to return them is Evri drop off, which for us is really inconvenient. However they still get 4 stars because I love them! They are dead comfy and I like the way they look. I am however slightly nervous now, having seen other reviews on here... They are not cheap so if they fall apart I will not be impressed and will come back and let you know.
