Review Time
I've been using Tutamail for free for more than one year, then i decided to subscribe the revolutionary plan. Not because i really needed it (i'm not a pro-user and i use just the 5% of its features...), but just because i felt so comfortable with it that i wanted to thank them for the job. I reccomend Tuta for 3 main reasons (pro-users will have many more): its security level, the high customizability of the address and the perfect spam control: i actually never received any spam since i've been using tutamail, even in the free version. Good job guys!
Tuta has been my email provider for several years now. They have managed to begin with a best-in-class product that they have gone on to continually improve with tweaks which have never been obtrusive. The spam filter is well-calibrated, and the responsiveness from the team when I (mistakenly) reached out to them was prompt. I can't praise them effusively enough. I am by no means a "pro" user, but with that grain of salt in mind, I highly recommend them to everyone who asks about my provider.
I have been with Tuta for a few years and have become a premium subscriber. I switched to them to move away from Google. I have been very happy with the product. I like the privacy and security, clear user interface and the ad free experience. The support team is very helpful and quick in resolving questions on the odd occasions when I have contacted them.
I've been using Tuta with my own domain as a secondary secure email service for a couple of years and can highly recommend Tuta. Tuta definitely isn't as slick and integrated as Gmail which I use for non secure everyday emails, but that is kind of the point. If I'm looking for security as a primary requirement I do not want heavy integration or my data being used. I've not used the recent calendar it contacts offerings. I am sure there are use cases where these could be useful. However, this is one area where I do want strong integration with other Apps. I hope Tuta continues to offer a secure service. I have some concerns over the proposed Swiss governments legislation to provide a back door to secure services which seems out of line with the historic approach of Switzerland.
I'm fairly certain that when I registered, there were no rules regarding loging into your accout at least once every 6 months, otherwise it gets deleted without any warning whatsoever. And yet this is exactly what happened, making me lose access to a few third-party services' accounts. Want to repeat my experience and lose access to your stuff without being able to recover it? Use Tuta.
Among those options is the ability to install it on my Android smartphone. That's particularly useful because I don't have login to the Webmail version to see what's just arrived. If all that's needed is a quick response I can send that via the phone, but for more comprehensive responses I use the Webmail option. Even though Tuta.com encrypts all emails and as such emails between Tuta users are automatic, it's still possible to send an encrypted email to another user who doesn't have an account with them. What happens in this particular case is that the email is sent in the usual way and a separate SMS containing the password is transmitted as well. To read the email contents, the user logs into Tuta with that OTP. Tuta will also store the same password which can be used again at a later date. The SMS can also be sent using any app such as Signal for example, or Whatsapp.Premium support is also top notch and they will go out of their way to assist you if you have anything you don't understand, or if you suddenly find SPAM arriving in your Inbox. I had that happen once and a simple request to support ensured my Inbox was clean again. I definitely wouldn't be without it now and if you're looking for a bona fide email provider with many options, Tuta.com is without a doubt for you too!
