Review Time
This has been the worst subscription service I have ever worked with. The concept, I believed to be amazing, seems to not have the backbone to make it run well. It took my first order exactly 32 days to arrive and I have yet to receive my second order, which is 54 days late, and am being told it is being looked into. It’s just been a game of runaround and who dropped the ball.
Seemed like a great idea if there was any organization to this company. I started my subscription April 16th... it is June 21st and I still haven't received anything. How is a monthly subscription based company so delayed? Feels pretty scamish, better off buying random mixtapes on the streets in New York.
I was giving this service as a gift back in March, followed the steps, added my details and waited, and waited, and waited. Received an email that my order had shipped on April 14th and I waited, and waited, and waited. Checked the tracking number, USPS says it is "Not Trackable". Received an email yesterday saying my 3-month gift was going to end, which means they would start charging me the monthly fee and that would be fine, however I haven't even received my 3 months gift of albums. Pretty terrible service.
This company is absolutely terrible, I have paid for four months. ($14.99 each month = $59.96) I have only received one record. They have terrible customer service and you must call in to cancel your subscription. I started my subscription on March 11th, didn't receive my record until April 12th. I've been charged every single month after up to now, June. I wish I would've set aside my $15 to support a local record shop and not this deceptive company that does NOT issue refunds and does NOT hold accountability for taking money and not giving the service in which was paid for. My suggestion is to not get this service and just support your local record shop. Also, for those whose money has been taken from VYNL please reach out to them try to get a refund. If they don't give you a refund please file a dispute with your bank.
I placed my order two months ago back in April for my sister’s birthday thinking it would be in within a few weeks. Two months has now gone by and I have emailed about 4 times with basically the same response every time and one time saying my shipment would be expedited (a month ago) at no cost, which it STILL has not been shipped. They mentioned that they were moving warehouses, but I f the wait time was going to be longer, there needs to be mention of that on the website. My shipment still has not left the building, so I asked for a refund and they responded that they would just send me an email when it was being shipped. I did not ask for that and asked for a refund. Not worth your time.
I ordered on May 6th, never got anything mailed out. I called and the guy said he would expedite the order. Weeks later, I called again to follow up and he said it still hadn't been shipped. I am now about to be charged for the second month even though I don't yet have last month's order. I said I'd like a refund and to cancel my order. He said I can't get a refund and there was nothing else he could do for me and hung up. I think it's bogus and I wouldn't recommend anyone spend their money here. Just buy your own records, or find a different subscription service. Their facebook page also ignored my messages.
It’s been a couple of months since I’ve gotten my orders and well....To sum up my experience quickly, after MONTHS of waiting I received my first box which was just really full of random junk records, nothing worthwhile from indie bands that had nothing to do with my taste. My second month was much better by a significant margin, I was sent records that were worthwhile from pretty decent bands. VNYL is a decent service in need of drastic help/leadership, the wait for 1-3 records is atrocious and you might be better off paying for overpriced albums at your local record store BUT at the same time you could find a lot of hidden gems with vnyl. I’d recommend VYNL if you have a very specific music taste and if you’re incredibly patient but besides that you might have better luck tossing a significant amount of money at record stores for overpriced copies and unwarranted bootlegs. (Bumped up from 1 star because I very much enjoyed my second month)
I wanted to try VNYL for a while, but was nervous about it. They offered a half price first month, so I signed up on April 15, 2021. I then read all their fine print. If you don’t cancel before renewal, you are charged again (of course, this is normal). If you cancel before receiving the records you paid for, you don’t get them! I wanted to try them out before committing, and I was hoping to love the experience. The renewal would happen May 15, and on May 7th I emailed to ask about the April curation, which I had heard nothing about yet. On May 10th I was told it was ready to be shipped and that VNYL would “get extra eyes on it so it is shipped as quickly as possible”. I could expect tracking info soon. On May 14th I received USPS tracking from VNYL, which stated that the label had been created. USPS didn’t receive the pkg until May 26th, and it is expected to be delivered on June 1st!! Sigh. Such a great idea. Such terrible execution. Even if you’re willing to wait, you won’t be able to get at least one months curation when you cancel, or they go out of business. Let them go. I cannot yet review the actual records, as it is only 6 weeks since I ordered, and I have at least another week to wait. At this point, I’m not expecting much. I was able to cancel future charges during the email conversation.
