It is becoming increasingly evident…

It is becoming increasingly evident that Westgate Resorts is not worried about their brand or their members as they continue to ignore my issues. I can only assume I am not alone, in my experience. As such, I feel like it is my duty to report my story, so others can avoid this trap. My concerns regarding the misleading information and pressure I have encountered throughout my interactions with Westgate. Instead of understanding my financial constraints, Westgate personnel tag teamed up to push me towards the sale. Feeling pressured, I reluctantly made the purchase in 2019. Unfortunately, due to the unforeseen circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was unable to utilize my timeshare for two years. Despite this, I was still expected to pay the maintenance fee. When I questioned the fairness of this, considering the pandemic's impact on travel, no accommodation was provided. In fact, I was threatened with collections if I didn't pay. Fearing the consequences for my credit score, I reluctantly paid the fee. I was told to make this work for me, 2021 and 2022: I need to upgrade again which was a direct result of fearing the loss of potential equity. Throughout my entire experience with Westgate, I have come to realize the extent of the misinformation I have been subjected to. I was promised the ability to exchange my week to any Westgate location free of charge, only to discover that there was an exchange fee when I attempted to book a trip to Vegas. Additionally, the travel credit system was misrepresented to me, leading me to believe it covered a more sizable portion of expenses and was more cost-effective than it is. I believe it is crucial for Westgate to take responsibility for the misinformation and pressure tactics used during the sales process.

Lured into a web of manipulative pressure tactics and deceit

My sister and I were lured into a web of deceit by Westgate employees in January 2020. We were approached at Disney World and offered a free stay in exchange for a one-hour presentation. Had we known it would take up most of our day and we would be lied to the entire time, we never would have agreed. The promises made during the presentation were absolute fiction. We were told that this timeshare was a real estate investment that would generate rental income to offset the costs. We were sold on international travel and cruises to get us excited. Little did we know these were tactics designed to manipulate and pressure us into making a purchase. The breaking point came when a representative touted a supposedly rare opportunity for a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo at an "unheard-of price." We caved to the pressure, unaware that the promises of Westgate to buy back the property and the supposed real estate investment were nothing but empty words from salespeople intent on ripping us off.The deceit continued during the contract review, where vital information was conveniently left out. The lack of transparency regarding the actual costs, the absence of a public offering statement, and the failure to mention our right to rescind the contract left us in a state of utter disbelief.Nearly three years later, we have only used the timeshare once, settling for less than what we paid for. The exorbitant fees continue to drain our finances, making it clear that Westgate cares more about deceptive sales tactics than fulfilling their promises to customers. To anyone considering a Westgate timeshare- approach with extreme caution, I sincerely hope others can learn from our unfortunate mistake.

Run don't walk away from Westgate

Run don't walk away from Westgate. Crooked, smoke and mirrors back office fake documents, telephone scam clients. Verbal telephone not worth ten cents in integrity. Never again. Oh and getting nuttier and deceptive as their Biden President. Not a good place to vacation .

We had such a terrible experience with…

We had such a terrible experience with Westgate. We fell for a discounted vacation package, but during the presentation, they fed us a bunch of lies that were the complete opposite of what our timeshare is actually like. They also totally misled us about the total cost. They promised us rental income and annual vacations, but they haven't followed through on any of those promises. Plus, their team used some pretty shady tactics to pressure us into signing a contract. We're demanding they cancel our agreement ASAP.The presentation was led by a lady named Stephanie Williams on February 11, 2023. She kept telling us that buying a timeshare was the best decision for our family and that it would let us vacation anywhere we wanted. They showed us a really nice 2-bedroom vacation home that she said was perfect for us. She even convinced us that we could rent it out whenever we weren't using it.We thought we were getting a great deal from their offer of two weeks annually plus an extra three days and four nights and 1,500 bonus points. Stephanie also kept talking about how they're associated with Disney and how we could get discounted tickets and free cruises through their program. That's what really sold us.At first, they wanted to charge us $45,000 for the timeshare, which was way too expensive. But then this sales supervisor, Jennifer Woodworth, came up to us and offered the same deal for only $18,000. It seemed like we were getting a good deal, but it was all a trick. When we went to sign the contract, they rushed us through the process and left out important stuff like our maintenance fees and our right to cancel. They totally took advantage of us, and we're beyond disappointed with how everything turned out.

Should’ve gotten a motel

Let me just start by saying this Resort was not to bad at all .. checking in was quick and the lady that helped us was very friendly and helpful. At first glance of the room everything seemed fine , it wasn’t until the second night of our stay when me and my wife started to notice the discrepancies. Mind you when we checked in it was already late and we were exhausted from the drive up. The first thing that we noticed was one of the pillows had this stain which looked as if it was make up on it , me nor my wife wear make up so we knew it couldn’t have been from us , no issue mistakes happen even in a motel.. hotel.. holiday inn. Curious to see if there was more then just that we found that 3 more pillows looked even more dirtier then the first and the disgust started setting in . Not only that the sheet that we were laying on had some weird stains on them and the comforter as well .. as I was sitting on the edge of the bed in complete and utter disgust I felt a slight tickle on my leg and went to swipe whatever it was away it was a bushel of blonde hair that clearly could not have been mine or my wife’s hair because we do not have blonde hair , AT ALL. After realizing all of this we removed as much of the bedding from the bed and thank god we brought blankets of our own to at least cover up with . When we realized everything it was about 3-4 am and we had been out majority of the day. So the front desk informed us to text a number with our concerns and pictures as well. We did and received no help at all. We were told because we did not let them know in a timely manner that they are unable to do anything to compensate us . Mind you we were still on the property and have not checked out yet . We were looking for a refund for the CLEANING FEE that they take at time of check in . But was told they couldn’t do anything to help . We were there from 02/04-02/06. I feel horrible at the fact that nothing was done or treated as a serious matter . This just lets me know moving forward , bring your own sheets and pillows and always check your room from top to bottom before unpacking . You would think you could walk into your room that you paid your hard earned money for a expect it to be up to par or at least meet the high cleanliness expectations that the hotel or resort preach but moving forward this will not happen again. And unfortunately because of this me and mine will not be staying here again . Tsk Tsk .. Such a shame. Unfortunately unable to add the pictures to this review so you can see how bad it was .

Dishonest sales pitch

I am deeply disappointed by the sales practices and overall experience with Westgate. From the presentation to the contract signing, every step displayed fraud and financial deception. The sales representatives were dishonest, using coercion and pressure to close the deal. They made false promises about savings, access to resorts worldwide, and using Airbnb to profit. The contract signing was rushed, and we were discouraged from asking questions. We have no doubt that vital information was intentionally omitted that could have aided us into making a sound decision. This level of fraud is unacceptable.I have made it my duty to caution anyone considering doing business with Westgate to exercise extreme caution. The company's unethical practices and disregard for transparency make it impossible for me to recommend them as a reputable and trustworthy organization. I hope that this review serves as a warning to others and impels Westgate to address these serious ethical concerns promptly.
