I am writing this to warn others about the appalling lack of accountability from Airbnb regarding a severe Health and Safety Violation.
During my stay at a listing in Cebu, I experienced a living nightmare. At midnight, I was woken up by sharp stings only to find the bed was literally an ant nest. There were insects on the bed, pillows, and crawling all over my body. This was not just a cleanliness issue; it was a significant Health Hazard and rendered the property completely Uninhabitable.
Why Airbnb Failed Me:
Zero Timely Support: I immediately contacted Airbnb via phone and the app, providing clear photographic evidence of the infestation and my bites. I received no help while I sat awake in distress until daybreak.
AirCover is a False Promise: Despite the "AirCover" guarantee which supposedly protects guests from such safety risks, Airbnb refused my request for a full refund.
Lack of Ethics: Forcing a guest to pay for a night spent in a pest-infested room is unethical and a breach of their own service standards.
I have "escaped" the property, but the way Airbnb has handled (or ignored) this situation is shameful. They prioritize host revenue over guest safety.
STAY AWAY from this platform if you value your health and expect any form of customer protection.

I was scammed by air bnb I reserved a place it was over priced and included was supposed to be internet wifi cable none worked…. I called over 10 times never fixed… so I had to cancel then air bnb lied to me I left 5 days early and they owe me $596 they never paid me… Then 2 month later they tried to take $2000 more from my cc it’s a scam… Sam is the host in Henderson do not rent from him or anywhere in the area…. They are all connected and just take your money DO NOT MAKE ANY RESERVATIONS IN THE AREA YKU WILL BE SCAMMED
Sharing a recent experience with Airbnb for awareness.
I booked a long-term stay, identified a listing issue almost immediately, contacted support the same day, and never checked in.
After days of back-and-forth, Airbnb closed the case stating refunds are solely at host discretion and offered no resolution.
Posting so others can make informed decisions.
Air BNB are fantastic and would get 5 stars for their operation, however, a recent experience in Auckland, New Zealand put a spotlight on one of their hosts, TEAM EJ and their property Parson Lane 2/14, Auckland, Auckland 2025, New Zealand.
A shocker, cats pee in the main living area made it uninhabitable, bed bugs in the master bedroom and a shower that would not drain.
Unbelievably poor communication, as a result we left 4 days early and spent the next week attempting to get a refund. After contacting Air BNB direct we managed to finally get a refund but no acknowledgment of the issue.
DO NIT USE ANY TEAM EJ houses in Auckland.
booked a unit in melaka during cny, the host just cancelled on us saying owner taking back unit. very lame excuse. meaning host is renting the unit from someone and sublet it for airbnb?
I was a host on Airbnb for several of my clients for over a year and have had no issues. This is how I would keep up with the cleaning schedules on some of my homes that is listed with them. When I tried to rent an Airbnb myself they all the sudden decided to close my account due to some criminal charge that I was over 27 years ago. When I explained to them that I was a host and needed them to please give me access back to my account they denied my request. I would very highly suggest not using this app as a host or a possible future renter.
Twice now I booked a house a year in advance only to have the booking cancelled 2 weeks before both trips. Very poor policy to allow this. Needless to say both trips were ruined. I reached out to Airb&b for help to find new accommodations and got no reply.
I book my homes through Airbnb regularly, and it has always been a great experience. I managed to find a home in Zanzibar, Bali or even Sri Lanka. Reasonably priced, and always corresponds to the pictures.
Useless customer support, hosts more and more put fake information and don't resolve issues and when you have no support from customer service you're left out of pocket and stressed and with bad experience. used to be good many many many years ago. It's useless now. I prefer Booking.
I canceled my reservation to Minneapolis in light of the protests, violence and civil unrest. Obviously I could get a refund. After saying that they declared some days as days that could get a refund, my dates were not included.
