Host refusal + misleading support = terrible customer experience

I’ve been an Airbnb user for 10+ years with zero issues — until now. I recently booked a stay and needed to modify the dates. The modification was for a fully available period and would have increased the host’s payout, yet the host refused without any legitimate reason and repeatedly discouraged me from proceeding with my reservation.I then contacted Airbnb support, where I was given incorrect information by a senior advisor. I was told that if I had cancelled the day before, I would have received a full refund — which was objectively false, as the platform clearly displayed that only a partial refund would be issued. This misinformation influenced my decisions and created unnecessary stress.Despite multiple escalations, Airbnb sided with the host — even though the host’s messages actively discouraged my stay and made the reservation unusable. I ultimately had to cancel against my will and absorb a financial loss.For a company I’ve trusted for a decade, this was a deeply disappointing experience.Airbnb needs to:• enforce standards preventing hosts from discouraging guests• ensure senior support advisors give accurate information• provide real customer advocacy when a host behaves unreasonablyAfter this experience, I’m reconsidering my future use of the platform.

Poor customer service experience

I used to rely on this platform for travel, but their customer service has become so inadequate that I'm considering switching to an alternative. Representatives struggle with English, and a promised credit did not appear. The manager was unhelpful in resolving the issue.

THE WORST ONLINE BOOKING PLATFORM

I run a surf school in Bali and have been a host with AIRBNB for 10 years.My story is just too long to explain but my advice to anyone is just dont use them! But in short they removed my listing that had 2592 reviews and I had a 4.93 rating without any real explanation why.The way they treated me was horrific.I will never use nor I would recommend AIRBNB to anyone - dead or alive.It's just not worth the stress!

I am officially done with ever renting an Airbnb property again. The properties are notorious for false advertising, the reviews are bogus and can’t be trusted, and the service is nonexistent. Never again.

I paid AirBnb, but can’t leave a review

I am just in the process of completing travel throughout Southern Italy and Malta. Reservations were made in the name of one of my traveling companions. Because the reservation is not in my name AirBnb will not allow me to submit a review-good or bad. THEY DID TAKE MY MONEY! Total bull and maybe even illegal. Policy needs to be changed.

Airbnb is the worst site you will ever see

Airbnb is the absolute worst site you will ever have the displeasure to use. If you must stay overnight, I would stay away from this site, they totally suck! I don’t think a company could be worse if they tried. In fact, they are so bad, I have a $500 credit, and I am no longer using them, which means I could actually say I wouldn’t use this terrible company even if it were free. I can truly make that statement because it’s true. It’s that bad!!! I used Airbnb 1 time, and it was a nightmare stay. Everything that could go wrong just about did, from clogged toilets, defective shower and sinks, the host posting lies about what you get at residence, and on and on. This was my first and last experience with Airbnb, because the morons at customer service made me go back and forth, claiming they were going to do nothing. I finally said, ok do nothing, no surprise, I figured this company sucked, I will simply never use you again. The morons then refunded half of the money I wasted on this experience. Now…. months later…their site sucks so bad, and the customer is nothing but lazy, incompetent people, that every attempt I made to use this credit, has failed! Their website absolutely sucks…I mean useless! And their customer serv is terrible so they do nothing to assist people. I mean I am not at all surprised that leaving this review it shows 16 thousand reviews, and their rating is an F…its not even 2 stars its so bad…just read the other ratings, don’t take my word for it! I don’t know who owns this company but I cant see them being in business much longer. They run things so poorly until people get so annoyed they don’t want to use any credits they have and they just leave. Then the crooks got away with not spending money. They are all about greed and money and care NOTHING about people…really they care NOTHING about customers. Try another site or use hotels, but avoid these crooks.

Airbnb cancelled our Superhost account without any reason!

After 10 years of being a Superhost, with hundreds of 5-star reviews, Airbnb cancelled our account, without any explanation whatsoever. We appealed asking for explanation, and got an automated message stating that their decision was final. It used to be a decent site, with highs and lows like every company, but now it really has gone to hell - I will never use it again.

Poor Host, Poor Customer Service, Poor attitudes

We were new to Airbandb and had a lovely stay at our first property on their site. No worries we thought and decided to book another. A huge mistake! The cheerful and bright premises (exact opposite in real life, pictures must have been taken a long while ago) was dark, dingy and dirty, or more precisely filthy. I have never been in a place where if you moved anything there was another layer of dirt, a toaster which had many months of crumbs and burnt bread. You couldn’t cook as it was so unhygienic. There were also various areas of disrepair, doors hanging off their hinges, cookerhood filter missing, open food left in the fridge, wet washing had been left in the washing machine, the list goes on. The clutter was unbelievable, it was under the furniture, on the tops in the cupboards / wardrobes, piled up in the corners, there was barely any room for us. We lived out a suitcase for two weeks, our two tins of peas could not find a space in the kitchen cupboards and spent their holiday on the top. Then there were the safety aspects the boiler was flashing low pressure, the garden was overgrown with brambles, decking unsafe, again the list goes on. A small child could have choked (lots of small bits) and it was possible for them to climb onto upstairs window sill, the window was covered by a cloth over a curtain rail (little privacy). The first week we were out a lot with longish days, but the second week we wanted to do things nearer to our location and this was when it came apparent how bad it was.We should have left, but there was no availability due to the school holidays and the short notice. The choice was to stick it out and complete the few places we wanted to see or go home. The Host had been pretty negative towards us so thought better of raising issues at the time. Although we contacted them on our return intending to have the conversation. It was clear to us that there wasn’t going to be any reasonable conversation as a result we were accused of not raising issues to them.We left a review that the Host managed to get removed (obviously knows how to work the system, how many other bad reviews has this Host had taken down) and they left a pretty damming, inaccurate review of us that we aren’t able to get removed although having proof not only with photos but with the message threads which Airbandb have access to.In conclusion we have no intention to use them again as their trusted reviews seem a bit untrustworthy or lacking to us and we do not want unwittingly to end up in a place like this ever again. There should be more respect for the Guests. Organisation has more than a bit of work to do there!! Policies need to be rewritten to be fair to all parties.

You cannot get invoice

You will never be able to get an invoice to cover your business expenses - it is a lie that they are business-friendly. Use booking.com with hotels - there make sure hotel provides you one - it was never problem for me.This was my first and last time using this platform.
