Dear Sirs,Yesterday 10.01.2025 at 10:00 I arrived at the PickUp area of Miami airport to be taken to pick up the car in your depot as per your confirmation note no. CJT 0159619439.At 10:30 am, since your van had not yet arrived, I took a taxi to reach your offices at 2301 NW 33rd Ave Americars where, unfortunately, the employee who was at the counter did not want to give me the car for the following reasons:1) She could not accept my insurance policy, but forced me to take out a new insurance policy with a higher cost, even though initially, after speaking with her manager, she had submitted a statement to me in which I assumed all risks arising from the rental.2) She could not accept my personal Sun Pass regularly active and functioning, so she forced me to take out another contract with the Sun Pass of Your company with a highe cost to pay.Despite having shown your confirmation note in which there is not written or reported any of the two conditions requested orally and not in writing, despite the reasons I presented, the Manager to whom the employee was speaking by telephone refused to hand over the car to me.For the above, subject to further action also in the media, to protect my interests, I ask that the entire sum of € 327.00 be immediately returned, of which € 27 have already been charged to my American Express Platinum credit card.Hoping for a quick note from you apologizing for the incident that made me waste a lot of time and the rapid reimbursement of what is already charged to my credit card, with a warning not to charge other sums, I send you kind regards.Marcello Vincenzi.P.S.I have a video of the above to demostate what appened.
On picking up the car, the agent stated the discovercars insurance we had purchased did not cover 3rd party personal injury and it was illegal to drive without it. He showed us a piece of paper that would be required to be shown to police if pulled over. This was specific to Florida and as discovercars was not based in the US it wasn’t aware of these specific rules. Despite my objections and a fairly lengthy uncomfortable interaction, we were pressured into accepting the additional fee. I also mentioned numerous times that it stated ‘supplementary’ and on our insurance it said ‘no other insurance is required’ however he told us it was mandatory so what more could we do? We verified multiple times if we HAD TO have it. We were told we needed to sign for this additional insurance in order to get the keys. Turns out we already had this insurance and we were lied to. The company is now refusing to refund us and has stopped communicating with us.
Fortunately I read the reviews here on Trustpilot and luckily dodged a bullet with this company!I recently booked a 3 week rental from Orlando International Airport for February next year. Thankfully it was cancelable until 24 hours before pick up.I had booked a vehicle to be collected after my flight landed in Orlando at 18:45. I contacted the company to ask what would happen if I collected my car after 8pm, if the wait to get through the airport and out to their premises took longer than an hour. They replied to tell me that if I arrived after 8pm there would be an $80 fee, which was more than 25% of the total price of my rental. They advised it was disclosed at the point of booking, though I didn’t see it anywhere. If I had, I simply wouldn’t have made the booking. The prices seem to be suspiciously low with this rental company, perhaps as a way of reeling the customer in before they apply additional charges to make their money. I can’t comment on the service during a rental as I quickly cancelled my booking and found an alternative rental company (that allows two hours grace either way) the moment I noticed they wanted me to pay an extra $80!!No thank you!!! Be aware before you book here!
Avoid this company. We hired a car and returned it 31 October. They put a $2500 hold on my credit card which should have lifted after all tolls were paid. Instead the deposit has been charged to my Credit card. Despite numerous calls and messages to the office. They keep claiming they will be refunding the money. This never happens!!! Told to email another department who never reply, they have stolen $2500 from me and now I am paying interest, due to their dishonesty. Please be very careful who you trust. Booked through Discovery cars who aren't interested either. My advise is steer clear from both companies
Never Renting from AmeriCARS AgainI rented from AmeriCARS in October for a 4-day trip (10/17 – 10/21 – Reservation # AMEORL-16816) because their rates were cheaper by about $100. Unfortunately, during the trip, another car hit us in a parking lot while reversing. After a police report and an investigation by Geico (the other party's insurance), they agreed to cover the damages. When I signed my rental agreement, AmeriCARS blocked a $2500 security deposit, which I understood at the time. Since November, I've been trying to get a detailed repair invoice for the damages, which Geico has requested in order to process the claim and reimburse me for the repairs. As of today, 3/5/25, AmeriCARS has deducted the $2500 from my credit card and has refused to provide a proper invoice for Geico to process. I've emailed, called, and even Geico has tried reaching out to AmeriCARS multiple times without success. This is my last resort, and I hope sharing my experience helps others. I’m not willing to let my hard-earned $2500 go, so AmeriCARS management, please address this issue and resolve it as soon as possible.Thank you,SanketThank you,Sanket Reddy
This is for the Orlando Office in October 2024Pros -Good Prices....only without insurance.Cons -- No car breakdown for free.- No regular customer service - number flips to other branch and no one will call you back and sometimes you get caught in being passed from one person to another who do not how to handle the situation.- No replies to emails - very unprofessional.- Cars are ok but have a lot more wear and tear compared to other hire companies. Insist on making sure everything is documented/ photos taken.- Difficult to find if you are going there yourself.- Main office in Miami and Orlando has a satellite office which is located in a container. Quite Nice.Always ask for a hard copy before you sign as mistakes on the paperwork will cost you, their female agent only let me sign the phone screen when checking out the car but they do have a printer and make sure they print this out before signing to spot for mistakes which they made even after spending nearly 2 hours trying to rent this vehicle that we prebooked. It took me 5 days of chasing them to resolve the paperwork mistakes, which was a waste of my time as I did not need that headache chasing something that they should have done right in the first place, this is what they are getting paid for! If you traveling from Uk/ Europe you can buy a yearly car hire insurance from places like google search icarhireinsurance.com (I have used them for several years and its low yearly cost will pay for itself which is equivalent to 3 days hire damage cover - it also covers upto 9 drivers on your insurance) this way you do not need to purchase any car insurance with any car company worldwide and you can not be forced to buy this - check the information on the Attorney General - google search attorney general office Florida + consumer-protection/how-to-protect-yourself-car-rentals.Overall it would be less headache renting from the bigger companies - however to keep the costs low this is a god enough company as long as you follow the advise above. DO NOT BE FORCED into buying extra insurance, whichever type they may insist you need - please check your own insurance and please refer to Florida attorney general information as you can make official complaints directly to them.Happy Driving
This is an absolute disgrace of a company — AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They steal, lie, and respond to all inquiries with complete radio silence. We booked Americars Auto Rental with pick up time 7pm at Orlando airport. Our first reach out to the company was 06:23, via WhatsApp (like the booking confirmation told us to do). No answer. For three hours we called, texted and e-mailed the company - still with no answer. We waited at all three possible pick-up points that we found in the voucher and through Google searches. We asked EVERY driver at all three locations for an hour and a half, but none of them had even heard of the company. At this point we had traveled for 24 hours and the kids where exhausted. We had to hire a temporary car from Hertz to get us to the hotel, costing usWhen we finally got in touch with the company the next morning, we were told to return to the airport and contact them to get picked up by a shuttle. After a lot of back and forth that day as well, we found the right shuttle bus (with a completely different logo and name than the company we rented from) and arrived at an office in a small container. The girl working there was defensive from the start and explained the chaos the day before by saying they had been "very busy." We presented receipts for the temporary rental from Hertz, but it was out of the question that they would pay for it. They were not at fault. After long discussions, it was time to pay. When I booked, I prepaid €128 and was supposed to pay $371.25 when I picked up the car. I paid for and booked a full-size SUV. At pick up, I had to pay $666.21 (without extra insurance) and (hold on to your seats) what we received was a MID-SIZE SUV!! I overheard the employee talking to her manager on the phone (she said there was an issue with her system, so she had to call for help), where she said (in Spanish) that I was supposed to get a full-size SUV. Her manager responded with something on the other end, and then the employee replied, 'I’ll give her a mid-size SUV.' When we went out to the car and I tried to complain, she said this was the only car they had for us. At that point, we were so exhausted and fed up with the situation that I was on the verge of tears. So there - 24 hours delayed, with a car that’s too small for our luggage, having paid double what we were supposed to for a worse and smaller car — and in addition, we paid $159.75 for a Hertz car for one day.The company stopped responding to us and refused to issue any refunds. Three weeks after we returned the car, the company charged another $69.98 for fuel, even though the car was returned with a completely full tank. This is a really untrustworthy company, and I never want to hear their name again. I wish I could give them zero stars.
All I can say is that I wished i had looked here before I booked the worst car hire experience of my life and feel conned by the Toll Administration Charge and Extra Insurance charges even though at the time of booking I was told I had full cover by their Agent DIscover Cars. The representative could do with some Customer Service Training. Will not use Discover Cars or Americar's on future trips back to using Sixt and other main stream companies.Other issues:Incorrect Pick up instructions from Agent Took almost two hours to arrive at their office and said it was my fault because I was late (Sorry I do not control Airline Delays and US Immigration low staffing as two agents for two full planes) Car looked battered, seats looked dirty and had service light on but was reliable and did the job will go through credit card charges with fine tooth comb
Horrific from start to finish. Do not give them your money. The address they supplied on the booking form is wrong - no shuttles went to their new address. The contact number rings out - had to ring 3/4 times before getting through to someone. Had to pay for an Uber to get there. They gave me a car with cracked rear light and poor condition inside. They upsell the toll activation and then STILL CHARGE YOU for going through tolls. Constantly give you the attitude of “not my problem”No apology no sympathy just pure greed. Shuttle back to airport? “Just get on that company’s shuttle over there”They’re on another level. AWFUL! I complained and received $10 compensation which barely even cover the Uber.
I gave 1 star only because the rental price was fair enough. Here’s my very sad and disappointing experience with Americars. We landed at Fort Lauderdale on August 5th and had booked the car for 9:30 pm.Our plane landed about an hour late due to weather conditions. As soon as we claimed our baggage at the airport, we called the Americars phone number -0019548303997- as stated on the booking confirmation: ‘Having collected your luggage, go outside, and a Shuttle will be provided for pickup at your arrival terminal. Please call or text +1 (954)-830-3997, and the representative will provide a Shuttle pickup.’We waited and waited, but no shuttle ever came. We texted and called again, and the person who answered just hung up the phone. After an hour and a half, we asked a random shuttle driver if he could take us to the Americars address, and luckily, he was headed to a nearby building. When we arrived at Americars, we discovered that they close the office at 8:00 pm, so it was impossible to get the car (even though we had a booking for 9:30 pm). We called again, and the person on the phone just said, ‘I’m sorry.’We had to return to the airport with the same shuttle and then paid for an Uber to go around and find a room in a different hotel: we tried five hotels, but there were no rooms available. We ended up back at the airport and had to sleep on the floor. None of my family—my wife, my 17-year-old son, or myself—could sleep. We lost the money we had paid for our booked hotel in Miami. The next day, we arrived at Americars before 7:00 am, but no one was there. Here’s what is stated on the Americars booking confirmation: ‘Business hours 07:00 - 20:00 (Monday). Outside of business hours (for an additional fee): 00:00-06:59, 20:01-23:59.’I had to call the same phone number multiple times, and the lady who answered kept telling me she couldn’t find the booking. After spending at least 30 minutes on the phone, I had to scream, literally scream, that I was going to call the police, and then she hung up. After several more minutes, I got a phone call, and a different person told me that ‘someone will arrive in 45 minutes.’When someone finally arrived at Americars, they had the nerve to ask me to leave a good review while smiling.I don’t need to add more.
