On Tuesday 13 September I phoned this joke of a place and spoke to someone concerning our beloved puppy, a 5 month old shar pai and explained in detail our dog isn’t himself at all. We explained he’s gone off his food and was only drinking very little water And had very loose stools. The woman I spoke To advised me it would just be a 24 hour bug that’s going round and if he’s still the same to ring back in 24 hours. As first time pet owners we took this lady’s advice as she was confident enough he would be okay the next day… early the following morning hugo started to deteriorate and we Called the ellesemere port branch as Birkenhead wasn’t open at that time. Explained the situation and explained how poorly the dog was and needed to see someone asap…The lady on phone was not helpful what so ever and didn’t seem to be bothered how serious this way. And although I was crying begging and begging for help her response was the only appointment was 10:30 take it or leave it. Unfortunately Hugo didn’t make this appointment. Trying to get threw to this place to explain we didn’t now need the appointment as it was too late but there not the quickest to answer the phone but they where quick enough asking us for money for them to cremate him although we should of never been in that situation in the first place. Me & my partner were obviously not happy with the whole situation so he phoned the practice up and asked to speak to someone higher up so he could discuss the situation and ask why we wasn’t taking seriously. after a few hours a manager called Phill mcguginall called my partner back, he asked about the lady who give us advice over the dog was she a Practice nurse or a qualified vet, his response shocked us as he clearly stated she had no medical experience she was just a receptionist working on the desk. So why is a receptionist allowed to give medical advice & tell us it’s just a bug!!! Her job would of been to book Hugo in to see a vet or get someone with medical experience to ring us back but definitely not to give medical advice on a puppy! My partner started to record all calls between him & the manager Phil and also informed him they was being recorded so we had evidence of the rubbish he was trying to give us. Monday 19/09/22 He received another off Phil who informed me he’s done an investigation within the Birkenhead branch & explained the woman who had spoken to us on the Tuesday had been sacked for gross misconduct (that’s basically admitting liability as if she done nothing wrong there was no reason to sack her) we are still now back and forth with this bullshitter Phil who now seems to be just fobbing us off now and just wasting our time whilst he’s apparently working on it with people higher above in the company. The whole experience with these has been extremely stressful & I advise anyone using any of their practices to make sure your dealing with someone who is medically qualified & trained within there role!! We are now legally taking this further because we are not satisfied what so ever with anything that has happened Stay clear!!!!
I have been trying to talk to a Human over 2 months, i have been writing emails, writing messages over & over on Animal Trust site, been in the Bolton Branch and spoke face to face with staff, who PROMISE you, THAT you WILL get a phone call ??? but you don’t. The staff in the branches can’t help you either… it😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
There is no way that I can give anything lower than 5 stars to the Shrewsbury branch. Our cat needed pretty serious, complicated, do-or-die surgery. The team were extremely professional, supportive and knowledgable. Our surgeon, Ed, walked us through the details of the surgery and explained all the research that he had done. He performed the surgery successfully, while the nurses breathed for Cheddar during the op. So, shout out to Ed, and also to the incredible nurse(s) who helped him. Fantastic service, affordable, and probably better than most "for-profit", specialist vets. We're all so happy to see our cat again, and it wouldn't have been possible without such an excellent team. I can't recommend them enough. I mean, if it's not-for-profit, that means that it's out of passion and love. Why would you want anyone else to work on your animal?
Absolutely appalling service for the Bolton Animal Trust practice, which I was still registered with despite not using for two years.I tried to ring out of hours and had to wait more than 20 minutes on the phone in a queue and still no-one answered, I actually drove there with my mobile connected to Bluetooth, arrived and still holding the phone with it ringing found that one receptionist was on the phone and working alone. I was treated very rudely, and the subject of money came up before the concerns that my dog needed emergency treatment. Even then I was told to come back later at a specific time, which was just not acceptable in an emergency as my dog needed treatment now, not in four hours time!I left, and managed to get hold of another veterinary practice (our usual one, who I registered with two years ago) who did treat me and my dog with respect in an emergency.I attempted to cancel the appointment with the Animal Trust in Bolton and held on the phone for more than 45 minutes, and no-one answered. Then hours later I got a rude email, saying I would normally be charged £24 for missing an appointment, but since this was the first appointment missed, they would wavier the fee. Excuse me, I tried to cancel, and you don’t answer the phone, and not everyone is able to use chats and the internet. The email also threated me with removal from the practice, as if I care, as if I am going to even think of attending this practice again. I may have been registered, but I’d been attending a much better vets in Bolton for the last two years, so you know what you can do with your registration. And the reason I left, was like many other reviews, appointments were never on time, at one point with a distressed dog, I waited more than 50 minutes over my allocated appointment time. Prices are massively inflated on drugs and medications, yes there might not be a consultation fee but everything else is overpriced. Do yourself a favour, don’t fall for the not for profit rubbish, and find a local vet who might charge a consultation fee, but who will actually get to know you and your pet, you'll be thankful for that later down the line.
Great vets but absolutely no office management whatsoever. Don’t know why they bother giving appointment times as they are never kept. Never once been taken on time and last appointment for 2.30pm - I wasn’t seen until 3.25pm. Absolutely scandalous and a repeating occurrence. The Vets may be busy but do they think I have nothing better to do than sit around in a surgery. I’ve got a job and things to do. They could seriously do with having a “time management” course.
Really can’t say a bad word about this place! They have been excellent every-time I have been with my two dogs. The vets are so nice and kind and really explain everything to you. It’s nice to go a vets where they don’t just care about money. The receptionists are also very friendly. Don’t believe all bad reviews you see.
We've had a really good experience from Animal Trust. Being a not-for-profit vet they are generally busy, and it's really impressive to see such an amazing effort from the staff. Very helpful and caring. We have used both Bolton and Dewsbury branches. Would definitely recommend.
I’ve been going for months with my Westie but as usual when vets see a Westie all they say is skin complaint. I knew it was different to usual skin complaints I’ve had Westies for 40 yrs.he was given the normal steroids antibiotics and shampoo washed 3 times a week but was getting worse instead of better I queried cushings as the black eruptions on skin was typical with cushings but was told no it wasn’t. Finally after been told he didn’t need a blood test one was done to check for cushings got a phone call today to say he could be diabetes or cushings but want another £300 for more tests to see which £100 for urine test and more blood tests they don’t know what there doing and don’t care about the animals they treat all there interested in is the money
I took my dog with a urine sample to the wrexham branch as I suspected a UTI the vet totally dismissed what I said to start with then after examining him said I was probably right and they’d dip the urine and let me know!! Any other vet iv been to would dip the urine straight away! After 6 hours of waiting and two phone calls later my dog did have an UTI and I had to go all the way back to pick up his meds! Terrible way of doing things and I definitely won’t use them again!
Totally agree with Jade Holland had a major on going dispute with these because of another vets malpractice; these rip off merchants like to fly under the banner of a charity because its good 4 their income; they couldn't care less about animal welfare, as experienced by myself 1st hand when they attempted to criticise my lifestyle instead of being concerned about the welfare of my dogs, when challenged about this their response was to ban me. Don't give these fraudsters any donations it's just another way of generating business 4 them.I've got some friends that genuinely care about animal welfare & I will be pointing them in the direction of this practices corrupt practices!!!
