Encourage by the vet to take out a health plan out a health plan for my dog and 2 cats. Due to the date that the direct debit was taken let me in problems with the bank due to be overdrawn. The policies I cancelled I heard nothing anoit until allmost 4 months later. I received a telephone call from the vets where I was informed I owed 162 pounds. I have since received 1 email 2 letters telling me I05 hundtell me Ao 524.65 pence. I'm speaking to the staff at animal trust this is a cancellation fee this is a cant slave shimphy. I was also informed that they are going to pass tmy account to bailiffs. If you should decide to take out one of these policies be aware of the consequences should you stop paying the fees. The receptionist I Spoke to Informed me That this was a cancellation fee.

I took my dog to the Ashton practice

I took my dog to the Ashton practice, the vet who treated him did not seem to know what she was doing resulting in my dog having bruising. Laura on reception was absolutely no help. She said if I brought my dog back there was no one to see to him and advised to send a photo, when they reviewed the photo they told me to put a cold compress on the bruising and to bring him back the following week. She was very rude and refused to take responsibility on behalf of the practice and refused to give me the vets name. They charge an absolute fortune for treatment and have absolutely no care or compassion for animals. I should not be expected to treat my animal at home due to their incompetence. He was worse when he left the practice to when he went in

avoid at all costs

I have used Animal Trust for the past 6 years and it's gone further downhill every time I've visited. I had to go in for an emergency appointment with my dog. I gave the insurance claim form to reception and paid the £7 fee as requested. I then contacted them a few weeks later to ask for an update on the progress of the claim to be told they haven't even received the claim form. They then told me I had to submit it via email which I did. The claim was eventually paid out. A few weeks later I had to order a repeat prescription which I paid for in full. I claimed through my insurance myself on this one to get the money back for the meds because my insurer doesn't require the vet to submit it for a repeat prescription. My claim was accepted by my insurer and paid out no problem. A couple of weeks later I get an email to say Animal trust have submitted a claim for a repeat prescription and that they were charging me £7 for it even though I hadn't instructed them to do so! I submitted the claim myself so didn't need animal trust to do it on my behalf. The matter had already been sorted but they randomly opened a new claim! So I tried to contact them via email multiple times as you can never get hold of anyone on the phone, all of my emails were ignored (i sent them to a working email as I have had contact with them on this email address weeks prior) I submitted a complaint and Animal Trust tried to turn it around on me saying I'd submitted two claim forms for the repeat prescription (I hadn't the two claim forms were because they hadn't logged the one I handed in to reception so I had to submit one via email for a completely different thing which had already been settled weeks before.) I was told my complaint was rejected and I owed them £7 for them submitting a claim I never even asked them to do. I appealed the complaint and have once again been ignored so I have given up and moved to a new vets. Don't let the not for profit thing fool you, the cost of treatments are double what they are at any other vets to make up for the fact that there is no consultation fee and if you have an issue you just get ignored.

BOLTON RECEPTIONISTS

Consistently poor service given by receptionists at Animal Trust in Bolton. They are rude, dismissive, defensive and lacking in compassion and empathy. Their spectacular lack of people skills leaves you feeling angry and frustrated. I get the impression they would be happier if there were no customers to deal with at all.Taking a sick pet to the vets is bad enough without having to deal with poor service like this.

Amazing, amazing, amazing

My little fur baby Poppy was extremely unwell yesterday and we nearly lost her 💔 took her to Animal Trust after other vets including her own weren't helping or taking it serious and she was rushed to theatre immediately they saved her life and I'm eternally grateful not only was the cost extremely reasonable a 1/4 of what the other vets charge! they were so incredible the staff were amazing, caring, informative and professional. Thank you so much im now a full member and would never go anywhere else. Highly recommend

Not for profit vets is not what this…

Not for profit vets is not what this company is about! They make you sign up to a pet plan with a monthly subscription which is not worth the money! They took money from my bank without authorisation and point blank refuse to accept any responsibility!I will definitely be cancelling my subscription at the earliest opportunity!

Worst experience of my life it’s a long one

So i don’t even know where to start. It’s going to be a long one but I am so angry and don’t know where else to turn to just don’t want this happening to anyone else, and be in the same position we’ve been for this past week. We’ve had the week from hell after visiting animal trust In Birkenhead on Monday 12th feb. Our youngest cat Loki who’s 18 months old a week before our trip to the vets he was very lethargic, acting out of character, slept for one whole week barely moved, wasn’t eating his food much or entertaining his toys whatsoever, so after a week of worrying hoping he’d perk up and was just abit under the weather, there was no signs of anything changing so we took him to animal trust. Explained about how he had been the week previous and also explained how this bloody cat eats absolutely anything and everything so could it possibly be a intestinal blockage or something. So anyway we take him to birkenhead animal trust and while we are there the vet doesn’t listen to a thing I say about the eating of hair and is very adamant that In the worst case scenario that it was lymphoma in his abdomen/stomach. And was saying he could feel something abnormal in his stomach. He also weighed him and said he was 2.9kg now we knew he had lost abit of weight but we didn’t think it was that much so we were panicking then even more, We kept trying to ask what the other possibilities could be as he is still young and has been relatively healthy since birth and it was just this week that we had noticed any issues. the vet wasn’t open to listening to any other possible causes and kept jumping straight to ‘worst case scenario’ now while I understand that they have to make sure they explore all options, he really wasn’t allowing us to explore any other options and again kept jumping back to the worst case?! So instead of doing his blood tests there and then which would have taken five minutes they booked him in for, sedation an ultrasound, biopsy, and a full blood test to all be done at the same time. So we were fine with that, came out of the room and before the person at reception would let us leave they made us pay just over £500 for the appointment, asked if it could be paid on Thursday or at least a deposit or something cause how can you pull that much money out of nowhere? and didn’t tell us anything about a cancellation policy or whatever it’s called. So us coming home on Monday we’re sick to the stomach worrying about our baby. We jumped onto Google to check the reviews long story short they were rubbish didn’t trust our baby going there anymore especially under the circumstances. Had to fight to get a refund as they didn’t even tell us about this policy so we found a vets in heswall, the reviews were absolutely amazing so we thought we’d sign up with them and get him an appointment today we took him in at 9.30am they weighed him, he weighed 3.86kgHE DID NOT PUT THIS WEIGHT BACK ON IN THREE DAYS animal trusts scales were way out. The new vets also checked his stomach and was looking at us and just basically said along the lines of what am I supposed to be feeling for in his stomach, took his temp that was normal, checked his heart was all normal and took him back to get his bloods done. We had the results BY 1.30??? Why animal trust couldn’t just do that in the first place is BEYOND MEE!!! Had us go through dayss of worrying sick about him to turn out he’s absolutely fine and the reason he’s probably lost abit of weight is cause his brothers a greedy bugger and eats all his food in the night when we’re sleeping and when we’re out😩 MORAL OF THE STORY DO NOT GO TO ANIMAL TRUST IN BIRKENHEAD.

No consultation fee is good but.....

No consultation fee is good but if you need medication you'd better have deep pockets. Used this vets three times with two of the vets really nice but had one obnoxious vet who was obviously trying to get as much money out of me as possible. The medication my dog needs is £40.90 at the vets but only £13.86 on line. You need a prescription at £22 but, as the vet can prescribe 6 months, it still works out cheaper online. The animal trust costs are in line with most local vets so I'm not sure what the " not for profit" statement means. Also, not taking cash payments means that some people on very low incomes or some older people that mistrust cards may not have a debit card that allows payments to third parties so they can't use the service. Great idea in principle but not good in practice.
