We hired a 6 berth motorhome in Queenstown for 4 adults for a week. Waited an hour for them to do a service on the vehicle. The suspension in the rear was non-existent, making it extremely uncomfortable for the rear passengers (bitumen roads felt like corrugations). Seat cushions had no support at all, including the rear bed area. The noise from everything rattling was deafening. The rear side door was extremely hard to close and even opened on one occasion while driving. Overall, nearly $4000 down the drain.
If you're still keen to hire a motorhome, my advice is to limit yourself to 2 adults per motorhome (they're very cramped) and take minimal luggage as there is nowhere to store suitcases (we were in the north island the previous week, so had 3 large suitcases)
I would like to commend your staff. The service we received on the ground was exceptional. In Melbourne, Hansani, who handed over the vehicle, was lovely and professional. Similarly, in Adelaide, Vicki, who handled the return, was welcoming, efficient, and very pleasant. The vehicle itself was in good condition and served us well throughout the trip.However, we were disappointed by a specific issue regarding our booking.We originally reserved a Mini Euro specifically to ensure easier driving and to minimize expenses, such as fuel and ferry crossing fees that wre booked a head. Upon arrival, we were informed that our reserved model was unavailable and were upgraded to a larger vehicle.When we requested that the company take responsibility for this change by covering the additional costs we incurred at the ferry due to the vehicle's size, we were surprised to receive a cold, legalistic response. After further correspondence, we were offered a 50% refund of the difference.Given the total cost of the rental, the amount in question is negligible. We expected a reputable company like Apollo to take full responsibility immediately as a matter of basic service quality. While we enjoyed the trip, this specific interaction left us with a bitter taste regarding your customer service policies.Best regards,Porat
Familiarisation, on boarding, admin was all simple and fast. Van was clean and mostly worked well, however wear and tear was evident with cupboard door falling off and excessive noise and squeaks while moving. Advice to refill the gas tank rather than use swap services resulted in a lot of running around we didn’t need. The advice that the app helps you find a place that does this service was also incorrect. Having said that, the manager did finally agree to extend the pre-purchase tank price to us. Van was not charged sufficiently when we got it which meant we had to change plans on night one and pay for a powered site (which was hard to find at Easter).
We really loved our RV holiday. The flexibility of taking your home with you is great. On occasion we put the kettle on or cooked a meal whilst enjoying a lovely view or location. Yes it took a day or so to get into a routine but once set up, it was a great way to get around. Attention to detail on design and amenities makes it easy to drive, set up, store things and live in.
Our pickup and drop off were very quick and easy and every one was very friendly! Also, we dropped off our van the day before we flew out and we realized on the way to the airport that my husband had forgotten his headphones in the van that he had stashed out of site and he was able to quickly stop in and find those! While he was there he also found out we had forgotten to pay for our diesel on last fill up (how embarrassing!!!) and they helped us quickly take care of that so we didn’t miss our flight. So thankful! Thank you for a great experience!
We waited for over 2 hours to receive our van from the original time of pickup which was 9am. Due to the delay we missed planned activities. I asked to speak with the manager, "Mel"at the time of collection to express my frustration. Employees said "she will not speak with you". After asking twice Mel still refused to come and speak with me, claiming that she was busy "doing a van safety check" when she was located the entire time in her office. I knocked on the door after staff had told me where she was. She rudely responded "WHAT DO YOU WANT?", not knowing who I was. I then told her that I wanted to speak with her and she said that she "didnt have time" and i explained id waited 2 hours she said "your not the only one" . I explained that in her role she should be making time to speak to communicate with clients. When I said that I was going to put in a complaint about her, I was encouraged by other staff. When i entered the building one last time she rudely said, "I can speak with you now." This was at the time of our departure from the Perth collection point after waiting for such a long time. I told her I would be putting a complaint in. Her response was "Go for it". Appaling management in that Perth office.
We had an Apollo campervan in New Zealand for 5 weeks.Overall booking and onboarding experience was clear to follow and positive.On picking the campervan up at the Christchurch branch we had to wait around 5 hours for the campervan to be ready - we were definitely not the only ones enduring a long wait and I also witnessed the same issues on dropping the campervan back to the Auckland branch. Something that Apollo clearly need to address. We had numerous issues with the campervan during the trip which is likely due to its age. Several inconveniences were eventually dealt with but be warned when booking Apollo the campervans are slightly older models.
