I signed up for their 1gb plan and was billed $75/month, getting an average download speed of around 50mbps, slower than my previous $30/month cable service. I now have AT&T's 300 plan, for $45/month and average 350-400mbps.
Astound looks nice and have kind of good ratings .
I’ve had a trouble with modem their modem , that wasn’t functioning after power outage - it was dead .
I didn’t have time to wait for the new one they send and just bought myself a good modem from bestbuy , which serves me well no matter what , I needed that for work asap .
Their modem was not functional so I just throw it away , remember to send it back as they will charge you $150 ( nobody told me about returning broken modem, which I didn’t cause the damage)
Had 20 min on customer support - they won’t do anything , and won’t admit that theirs modem was not a quality piece and I still had to return it .
Overall speed feedback : it’s not consistent , always some issues with speed or receiving good signal. I’ve seen astound techs in the area more than any other companies , as it was just not working well. You pay at first okay money , and after they’ll increase payments .
One good thing about astound is their customer service- it’s very easy to get hold of them, you not gonna wait for too long and most of the time they help you to fix whatever issue you have .
BUT it’s all about internet, and I wouldn’t reccomend them for that.
Thanks tho for customer service as it was always good .
I've encountered a few frustrating issues with the service after the transition from a previous provider, but they remain the best option I've had throughout my experiences. They offer the highest speeds at competitive prices, and their customer service can be outstanding after a wait, provided the call doesn't disconnect or someone hangs up. While they have their flaws, and I've been upset when my internet was cut off without solid explanations, many problems stemmed from wiring issues that were resolved without charge at one point by the previous provider. Other competitors like AT&T have poor service, and I've even heard their installers mention that they throttle certain customers, which was disappointing, but I didn't need their subpar internet anyway. I'm relieved I didn't stay with them. As for Xfinity, they are by far the worst, and I doubt any company could perform worse. They tried to offer deals similar to the previous service but failed miserably. I had to give them another chance due to a promotion, but they were the only option available. Unfortunately, I couldn't explore other companies as they were either not known or unavailable in my area. If the service returns to my city, I would switch back in an instant.
This service activated domestic roaming on my mobile line without my consent after I specifically requested international calling/roaming for a certain travel period. This error led to months of incorrect charges. When I disputed the bill, the support team provided inconsistent and conflicting explanations: initially claiming I didn’t inform them of my return, which was never disclosed as a requirement, and later dismissing my travel status. Promises of escalations and callbacks never materialized, and I struggled to reach anyone who could assist. A visit to a local office yielded no help, as billing was not managed there. While roaming was supposedly turned off, billing records show it continued until December 3. I have chat transcripts and billing documents to support my claims. The entire process feels designed to frustrate customers rather than address errors. As a senior citizen, the time, stress, and effort needed to correct this mistake have been excessive. Online reviews suggest this may not be an isolated issue; proceed with caution.
I strongly advise against using this internet service. My family has been a customer since the days of a different name. If there's one piece of advice to take from online comments, it's to steer clear of this provider. The same issues persist, with frequent outages. It doesn’t matter how fast or affordable the internet seems when the connection is consistently unreliable. We've been without service for 8 DAYS! Despite multiple calls, their response is merely to send someone out, and while it temporarily improves, the issues return. The inconsistency is unbearable. Please choose another internet provider!
I have experienced intermittent service for about two months, with outages occurring around eight times. Most of the time, the service returns after several power cycles. When I call for support, it often takes days for a technician to arrive. They've been out twice; I even canceled a service call when the issue seemed resolved, but now I need them to come out again. This situation is becoming quite tiring, and the customer service has been very disappointing. I wish I could give them less than one star.
This service activated domestic roaming on my mobile line without my approval after I specifically requested international options for a travel period. This mistake led to months of incorrect charges. When I contested the bill, I received confusing and conflicting responses from the support team. They claimed I didn't notify them upon my return, which was never mentioned as a requirement. Even when I clarified my travel status, they dismissed my concerns. Promises of escalations and callbacks were never fulfilled, and I struggled to reach anyone who could help. A visit to a local office was fruitless as billing wasn't handled there. Despite assurances, charges continued until December 3. The whole experience feels designed to frustrate customers rather than resolve issues. As a senior citizen, the stress and effort to correct this have been unreasonable. Online reviews suggest others share this experience; proceed with caution.
The internet service has been incredibly unreliable, frequently disconnecting for hours. A technician visited but couldn’t find any issues. The next day, I had to call again due to the ongoing outages, and this time I was charged $80 for the technician. The service worked for a few months but then reverted to the same pattern of disconnects. I canceled the service on the 2nd of the month but was still charged for the entire month until the billing cycle ended. The following day, I received a bill for $635, including $515 for equipment and $120 for another month's service. I cannot recommend this service for internet access.
I recently switched from this service due to relocating and had a series of issues. They changed my policy without notifying me, and I had to reach out to resolve the situation, only to find my internet was completely turned off. Despite being on time with payments for a contract that had several months remaining, everything seemed to resolve after I contacted them, with no changes made. After moving, I discovered they continued to charge me. They only partially refunded me, about 10% of my overpayment, and I received a debit card without option for a check as stated in the mail. Now, I’m in a tough spot since my bank doesn’t accept direct deposits through debit cards. To access the funds, I had to buy an Amazon gift card. I want to have a positive view of this service, but this experience has been incredibly frustrating.
