If I could give Barnard Marcus "0" I would. This is the second time I had the misfortune of dealing with the "Sales Manageress" Ms. Gizzelle at their Chiswick Branch. A few months ago I saw Barnard Marcus's signboard on a smart block of houses on a well-kept Road Road in Chiswick. I arrived at the property as advised by Gizzelle and waited beneath their sales board for over 30 minutes assuming the house I was shown was where their sales board was. When I telephoned Gizzelle to see why she was not at the location, she told me the property was not in fact where the board was but on another side street. I made my way to the new location. The house she wanted me to see was a run-down property and completely the opposite of what I enquired about. Gizzelle became rude and argumentative and blamed me for being at the wrong location. I was dumbfounded by her unprofessional and rude behaviour. I politely told her that I was not happy with her attitude and the way she treated me and that I was no longer interested in the property and I left. Today, I telephoned Barnard Marcus at their Ealing Branch but I was put through to their Chiswick branch instead. I was in conversation with a lady but her abrupt and rude mannerisms soon became clear that it was the same Gizzelle that I had dealings with previously. When I asked if she was from the Ealing branch, she lied to me and said "Yes I am, what can I do for you?" I explained to her that I had already left my email address, my phone and the address etc of the property I wanted to sell with her colleague. She went away for a few seconds and came back and said my colleague took down your wrong details, can you let me have them again. I was confused why she did not have my details and asked her to speak to her colleague again. At his stage she became rude and abusive, saying, I don't have your details, so can you give them to me or not? It became clear to me with whom I was talking with and informed her that she was rude and that I will go elsewhere because of her disrespectful attitude and the lies she told me. Gizzelle was not in fact from the Ealing Branch but from the Chiswick Branch. She was dishonest with me and told me a pack of lies in order to keep the commission for herself and not her colleague from the Ealing Branch. How deceitful and selfish is that? I hate having to deal with dishonest and deceitful people who have been put in the position in representing a reputable company such as Barnard Marcus.
Illegal conditional selling across their SE London branches. To sellers thinking of listing with Barnard Marcus I would recommend you do not. They will likely advertise the fact that they can offer buyers a full in-house service, covering mortgage brokerage and conveyancing services and that this ensures transparency, commitment and progress through the process however in recent experience of buying a property sold through this branch this is a loose term that results in what I think is illegal "conditional selling".We offered (and subsequently bought and moved in to a house) sold through Barnard Marcus and were put under immense pressure to use their in-house services. Not only is the pressure an extremely negative aspect of an exciting process (to the extent we considered pulling out, clearly not great for sellers and their chains) their in-house services are overly expensive and un-competitive from a financing POV (paying for a mortgage application fee before you've been accepted!!!???), again, giving perfectly valid buyers perfectly valid reasons for pulling out.We managed to progress our offer through Barnard Marcus using our long-term mortgage broker and conveyancing solicitor instead of their in-house services (which is incredible to even write, as as the estate agent, they're legally obliged to do), after a carefully worded email. The sellers were using conveyancing services that were part of the Sequence Group, and during the buying process the claim of transparency, commitment and progress offered by their in-house services completely disappeared with Barnard Marcus offering no transparency and progress, failing to keep to simple commitments and admitting they had little if any control over the conveyancing process, the opposite of what they'd sold as their benefits to the seller and us.To would be buyers, if the house you've found is being sold by Barnard Marcus, I feel for you, be prepared for a rough and expensive ride, or a rough one if you manage to buy from them using your own services. If the house is being sold by multiple estate agents, offer through the other one!I've had the displeasure of dealing with two groups of poor estate agents recently. Foxtons were great however, I'd recommend them.
I have been marketing a flat for rent with Barnard Marcus Earls Court. The early stages of the marketing were unimpressive given how busy the market is, but when I threatened to move to another agency, they upped their game and tenants were found. In preparation for this we made sure it was cleaned from top to bottom and we exited the flat having closed all internal doors, switched off all lights and double locked. 24 hours later I needed to place an information booklet into the property in advance of the arrival of the tenants, only to find that the front door was no longer double locked, the property had been used for some sort of 'entertaining' - the furniture had been sat on, there were champagne glasses in the sink, the bathroom had been used, the doors to every room were open and the TV had been watched as the remote control was not in the holder where I had left it. The only possible conclusion was that someone from Barnard Marcus, knowing the flat was empty and being in possession of a set of keys took it upon themselves to trespass into a now rental agreed property which was off market and make use of it in the few days between completion and move-in. They are strenuously denying it and trying to place the blame on us, or the previous tenants... but its absolutely clear that someone from that branch has behaved appallingly - and indeed illegally. The service throughout has not been particularly stellar but their response to this situation has been total denial and trying to place blame elsewhere.
Scott and Lucy at the Sanderstead office provided a good service when I was selling my flat. They were polite and helpful and responded to phone calls and emails and passed on communication from the buyer. They kept the sale alive during times when there were pauses from either buyer or seller.
Barnard Marcus - WallingtonI had a viewing in Coulsdon with Barnard Marcus and subsequently put a price in with an offer. Days had passed since the viewing and I found myself chasing the estate agent for updates.I was promised call backs I was never to receive, I then looked online again at the listing to see it had been marked as "let agreed" on rightmove. I find it highly unprofessional that this would be publicly updated online for all to see without firstly giving a courtesy call to the other offeror's to advise it has been agreed elsewhere.I have since asked the company to remove me from their systems and I shan't be using their services again.
so...First impressions...I arranged valuation ..got a call to change date ..ok date changed..and comfirmed text..took the Saturday time out to meet at the property at 11am.... no-one turns up ..so I ring them and they cannot find my booked appointment...then was told they didn't book because they don't deal in my area...no phone call to tell me this...just don't turn up...joke, very unprofessional 🤬
We sold our house through Barnard Marcus in Sydenham, London and from the outset we were given great customer service. Nathan, the branch manager, patiently went through the contract with us and answered all our queries promptly. Once we'd signed up everything was taken care of promptly e.g. marketing photos and setting up viewings. The team worked tirelessly to manage our sale and keep the chain communications progressing once we'd found our new home. A nice bonus is that they were all so friendly and approachable throughout the process; I highly recommend them.
I have a beautiful refurbished one bedroom flat in Putney next to the tube station. I visited Barnard Marcus on the High Street and introduced my property to the lettings manager - Azhar. He informed me they were inundated with people looking for flats. I therefore invited him to come and view the flat, he seemed a little reluctant to commit to a date which surprised me as he told me he had a large number of people looking for flats and I have a beautiful flat ready for occupation. surely he should make it his business to come and view the flat immediately or as soon as. He informed me he would call me, but he never called me, and I’ve not heard back from him. Tomorrow I will go to Foxtons which I have used before as we have a number of high quality flats to rent, but I thought I would give Barnard Marcus a chance. Obviously that was a bad decision.
