Gunwharf. Absolutely horrible experience. We were told we can have our table till 7.30 but were not served food till gone 7.30 after arriving at 6.15pm. The food took forever to come because table service was forgotten and staff vanished. For starters: the mushrooms for my partner were delicious, the chicken wings for me were more of chicken toes, tiny. The kids had cheesy garlic slices which was floppy and unappretising with a side of cucumber strips. Mains: I ordered a seasonal salad due to that being the only thing I could eat on the menu (allergies), when stating my allergies only one of my allergies was written down, I was served an overflowing plate of lettuce leaves, olives that tasted off, tomatoes and a flavourless dollop of aubergine puree on the base of the plate, the butternut and rocket was invisible and the sauce well, if a tablespoon is classed as sauce then it was saucy. The pineapple and ham pizza had 2 pieces of pineapple, the other pizza was edible but again the cheese was near invisible, the pasta dish was cold but we were so hungry we overlooked it however, my partner said the taste was average and needed seasoning, the kids desserts 1 was unavailable and the other was a rock that we couldn't cut with a knife, so I let the waitress know and was told "well it's frozen so it's going to be hard, you should have left it to sit", state the obvious but icecream shouldn't be a rock, it shouldn't need to sit. We didn't order pudding because we were not impressed with the rest of our food. When paying, the lady came with the card machine and snatched the card from my partners hand, very unprofessional. The wine was nice.We felt very awkward and rushed.Today, both my kids have a runny belly. Will I be returning NO, do I recommend? NO, Zizzis is next door...don't make the mistake we made
WORST DINING EXPERIENCEFrom the moment we set foot in Bella Italia, our evening took a turn for the worse. The staff seemed reluctant to accommodate my date's seating preference for no apparent reason, which led to an unnecessary back-and-forth. After some insistence, they eventually complied.Placing our order for both food and drinks was followed by an agonising wait. The chicken wings my date ordered for starters were far from satisfactory—undercooked and certainly not oven-grilled. She couldn't even take a bite. Requesting a glass of water only added to the disappointment, as I was served in a dirty glass with unpleasant sediment(the lime was rotten). This was a standard below what one would expect from a dining establishment. My date's drink, unfortunately, fell short of expectations, leaving her thoroughly disheartened at this point. The situation took a drastic turn when, while enjoying her lasagna, she discovered a hair in her dish. Our server, Rachael, failed to offer a sincere apology, merely stating, 'I can have another one prepared for you.' This response was not only impolite but also insensitive, leaving my date contemplating a less diplomatic course of action.Neither the Chef nor the Manager, identified as Ste and Lia, made any effort to address this regrettable incident. It was only upon our departure that Ste approached us upon requesting their names, giving us an email to send our complaints with the intent of sweeping the matter under the rug. Regrettably, an apology for their abysmal service was never extended.Adding to the catalog of mishaps, my spaghetti bolognese arrived lukewarm and notably lacked the essential touch of salt. Rachael, our server, exhibited a level of rudeness and impatience that exceeded any prior dining experience. Basic necessities, such as cutlery, were glaringly absent. When we requested them, Rachael unceremoniously plopped a fork onto our bare table, devoid of a proper setting. To add further insult, she neglected to provide a table knife for the lasagna. In the end, Bella Italia managed to mar what should have been an enjoyable evening, leaving us with a bitter taste that far surpassed the £55.54 spent.
The food was overpriced and very low standard. Had two meals and they were swimming in grease. Would not pay the price for, whats on the menu, and low standard food. The need to do a customer service qualification would be beneficial too. No idea on what is needed. Avoid.
Absolutely appalling service at Riverside restaurant in Norwich. We were a party of 7 and had booked in advance. I informed the waitress that I had a blue light services card which would entitle me to 20% discount and I was refused use as it was a group of 7 and not 6 which they said was the limit. They were unwilling to charge full price on one meal and they were unwilling to split us on to two separate tables and so was refused any discount. We were told that if we hadn't booked in advance that they would have been able to give us separate tables and bills. So we were penalised for having one more person in our party (even though we were happy to pay full price on the extra person) and for booking in advance. Then to add insult to injury our first course came before our drinks, our main course came before the first course was cleared away and everything was brought to the top of the table and we were expected to pass everyone's drink and food along the table. Not what you would expect from waiter/waitress service! One positive.........the food was nice.
Visited Bella Italia Edinburgh with my husband & daughter. Service charge of 12.5% added to our bill. Says optional but it is already added to the total and I had to ask for it to be removed. If anything I tend to tip too much. I always tip, but this is my choice. I was furious at the assumption that the service was deserving of 12.5%. I wonder how many people pay this, too embarrassed to ask for it to be removed.Service was OK. Server took the order, served it then brought the bill. Server didn't go above and beyond and other than taking our order he didn't engage with us. To expect 12.5% for doing his job, not acceptable.Ordered 2 pizzas and 1 lasagne. Pizzas were good. Lasagne adequate. After a busy day in Edinburgh my husband was hungry so he ate the lasagne but it wasn't great. Tasted good but too much sauce, wet & mushy.I removed the service charge added by staff & left without tipping. Definitely not my normal but tipping is my choice & to be told what to tip left me furious & left staff with 0%.
Booked a table for 3 online, very easy. Restaurant very clean, busy but not chaotic. Staff very polite, friendly and helpful. Good vibe from the restaurant, just what you want. Food incredibly tasty. £6 for a wee bottle of beer is a bit ott, obviously they have soft drinks but apart from that, what's not to like. I highly recommend this awesome restaurant.
Poor at riverside in norwich. Forts day we went we hadn’t booked and about 10% of tables were in use but they said they had no tables for 2 hours!! So next time booked, went back and when we arrived 2 staff members just walked past us then when we said we had a booking they would check if the table was ready. Again, after a wait they said it was!! The food was average at best and for over £60 for pasta and pizza for 4 was very expensive. My wife’s pasta was meant to be a chicken pasta with tomato. It has a tomato sauce and 3 bits of chicken. No staff attended to us other than take our order and bring it to us. No one asked how our meals were, I guess in case we complained and I had to go to the till at the end to pay as they just wouldn’t come to us. A mother and daughter also complained when we there about the state of their spaghetti bolognese and left disgusted. Wouldn't go back-save your money. Even though I had Tesco vouchers I still thought it was a waste of money!!
The server was very abrupt and rude. Had the cheek to add a service charge when all she’d done was ask what we wanted and slam our food on the table. When I asked for it to be removed she said a manager would have to do that and her attitude got even worse. Won’t ever go back.
