The dreaded smell of gas hit us on our return from holiday, called the emergency number, 35 minutes later the sniffer man turned up. Gas leak detected, team called and an hour later a team of heroes turn up. They dug two holes on the drive, found the leak on an old iron pipe. Pushed a new pipe down the old one, job done. 4 o'clock gas back on! Two days later, all holes sorted like new, fantastic service, well done
Balfour Beatty were the engineers sub-contracted by Cadent to replace the gas supply pipes in my street with plastic. I was given pre warning of the event, the time was tied to a 3-day slot, told their would be someslight inconvenience but nothing major. so far so good.My house is sited on the corner of 2 roads, so there is a fairly large area of pavement at the side, the first thing they did was to dump one of their large personnel units on this space along with all the barriers, road & pavement signs, walkboards that were needed for the total job. The large & smallbore piping was coiled up & stored along the side of my garden wall & across the pavement and half the grass verge, When asked how long it would be there the foreman (I think) said 'not long, maybe a week', as they started at the other end of the road this turned out to be 3-weeks.They seemed to move off to other areas for a while then the job would flare up again, I think they were being pressurised into completing against a time, they really worked hard when they were here.A huge load of excavated soil was dumped on the verge at the front of the house obscuring the gate entrance, complained about it & one bloke & a truck shifted it in about 2 hours, but the verge was left a real mess.Eventually our pipe was run and the show moved on, the only problem was that the fitter had botched the connection at the house wall & the gas was spewing out at the elbow. This was only noticed by my daughter from inside the house where the gas had found it's way in through an open door. 'Phoned it in on a gas leaks number, a guy from Cadent showed up , his only comment was 'a bit heavy handed' he fixed the leak but it still looks very temporary to me. Could have been nasty.They finally pulled out leaving the verge & pavement in a bad state, builder's rubble , dead grass, tyre marks, pipe offcuts everywhere. We found a Balfour Beatty complaints line (0161 7031110) they promised to report it to site manager, fix up over the weekend blah blah blah. Taking the p*** .
Awful service company has been a nightmare and all out stress they hit a water pipe and cable luckily not the electric one also for the worker. Didn’t call Anglian water straight away went home before they turned up and didn’t contact back so had to contact A.W ourselves. Left the private road a mess and didn’t get in contact had to wait in hold many times for up to an hour. Didn’t phone us back when promised. Finally came back to rectify issues and done a half job leaving behind a mess elsewhere from attempting to jet wash the road after requesting that just a sweep of the mud wasn’t enough . Promised roads sweeps and jet wash but only got a half job wash still waiting for answers and insurance. Not my job and poor quality services throughout avoid if possible!
the Cadent crew are presently working in Lang Lane West Kirby. They contacted us to fully explain what the programme would be, disruptions if any and timescale.we have not been inconvenienced once and have found the extremely courteous, efficient and always ensure the thoroughfare is completely cleaned after each days work. Well done guys
Despite sending yet another email to escalations and receiving confirmation I have not heard a word about my complaint. It is a far summary to conclude that any company that has a wecare@ and customerescalations@ email adresses has conflicting issues on dealing with customers.
I represent Derrington Village Hall we made a contract with Cadent to install a New gas supply we agreed the price before Christmas 2020 and paid in full on 6th Jan 2021 we had an installation date of 25th Feb 2021in the event men turned up on the 26th after 1pm they informed me they could not proceed with the work as the paperwork was incorrect, they then returned a month later with exactly the same incorrect permit to dig as the first visit, they eventually carried out the works on Friday 28th March. My poor review is directed at the organisation of the work not the men carryong it out. I feel we should be compensated for the shambles and delays to our other contractors who we had to rescedule because of Cadents poor office organisation.
Really bad service dug my drive up poorly reinstated it tried to re do while lying snow on ground shocking workmanship not good practice at all.after all this obtained a quote to repair myself they accepted cost and confirmed a cheque would be sent for us to do ourselves. Guess what no cheque ever turned up to date. Their customer service people do not respond or chase up properly.
We reported a gas escape from pipework, resulting from an incident involving work taking place outside the property (but within the boundary of the property) (Job 3004388042). Lee from Cadent Gas attended within half an hour and fixed the problem efficiently and quickly, Excellent service. He was courteous, thoughtful towards the elderly resident, provided clear explanations and was extremely helpful. Thank you!
