If you had Champion do your windows, DON’T let them do your doors! That was the BIGGEST MISTAKE ever. Complaints are being filed with the Southern District Office of the ADA AND the Department of Justice. First, I wanted expensive French Double doors but the salesmen talked me out of them leaving both me and my contractor (who was a preferred provider of the National MS Society) perplexed as the doors I wanted were at least $5,600 more??? Remember that point!installation was May 17 between 1-3pm. Two men showed up at 5:30 who barely spoke English. They spoke in Portuguese for 1/2 hour and started ripping out my old doors—no prep or protection of my property! Halfway thru ripping the doors out, they brought the new doors over from their truck. I immediately noticed that the doors were made backwards. I tried to stop the men, but they would not stop tearing out my old doors. They said, “don’t worry Champion will make this right.” I was livid that I could not reach anybody from the company! At approximately 9:15 pm these men started packing up their stuff, but the door wasn’t completely installed! I asked them what they were doing? They said they were leaving for the night and would be back the next morning to try to install the door handle and lock! I am a 63-year-old disabled single woman living alone on the first floor and they left me with my door jammed, unlocked in the heart of Atlanta Georgia overnight!!!! I dare anybody in Champion Windows to leave their wife, mother, or daughter in a major city in an unlocked house overnight while not being able to defend themselves! The next day a gentleman came. He had to leave a couple of times and come back but did put on the lock (kinda!). I pointed out to him that the workers that came spilt bronze sealant all over my patio rug. They never put anything down to protect anything, but used my furniture/rug as their workshop! Lastly the screen was not installed. The gentleman said he would make a note of that.Champion did make the sliding doors over again. A new crew arrived on July 18th but had no screen! Further, I was asked to move my car out of handicapped parking as that was where they wanted to park! Mind you I was standing there being held up by a Neurological UPWalker! I refused! And, I knew I was in trouble again. When I tried to shut the door during installation, it was so heavy I fell on the floor! Installer: “there’s nothing we can do!” Again no one answers phones! I tried to call between 3-5 pm. No answer. No screen. Sore customer from fall using their newly installed product that would save me money over what I wanted!Champion imported skilled laborers from Brazil but gave them no training. They were constantly trying to read directions from their cell phones to install the doors! They had canned answers. “Don’t worry! Champion will take care of this.” but they could not speak the language. They were not trained and did not know how to install the doors and you want to know why I know this? Because while they got the door handle and lock on the door the 2nd time, the door lock was installed upside down! It was only on August 16th when Champion showed up the third time to finally install the screen that the gentleman noticed that the door handle and lock was upside down. He fix the handle and then he attempted to repair the door another time to get the screen in. In the mean time, February to August deferred interest used. No doors to be able to be open from May thru mid August.Champion doors were solid BUT everything around the doors was done haphazard and flimsy. Most of it was scrap wood, fillers, and cheap vinyl that surrounded my doors, the doors were significantly shorter than the doors I originally had, and the opening to get through the doors was significantly narrower. The tracking was above ground to trip over. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SENIORS OR DISABLED!!!!!! So I didnt get usable doors, and Champion lost money…why? The salesman! He sold me what was in HIS best interest; not mine as a customer! AND he screwed Champion 4xs: Wrong doors ordered, two installations, lost company sales of $5600 on French doors wanted, AND ONE PISSED OFF CUSTOMER THAT COULDNT AFFORD TO BE CHEATED AND IS FILING A FEDERAL LAW SUIT AGAINST THEM!The answer? Salesman sold me what would turn around HIS commission faster!!!! He didn’t care what the customer wanted nor needed, he did care of the ramifications for his company. I NEVER heard from him again once I signed the contract; not even when the first doors came wrong! This was not a $6600 installation. I hired Champion Windows, but got Joe Shmoe of ABC windows for CHAMPION PRICES!
A salesman came out to look at the work I wanted done (replacement of sliding glass door), and then gave me some choices for the glass and metal. As he began writing the bid I could tell that the price was much higher than I expected, and I told him I needed to rethink the project. Bron was polite and professional through our discussion.
This was the worst experience I have ever experienced with home improvement. From the beginning with the sales person I should have known that this was a mistake. It took 8 months and we are still making repairs to our home, drywall, paint, wiring, and the list goes on.
It took a week short of two years from order placement to installation completion. It took five months for the windows to be made, and then they didn't make all of them because the factory decided two windows of the same size was a typo and only made one. They took 19 months to level the master bedroom window. They took 12 months to level the kitchen window. Every time they showed up they re-re-re-re-re-replaced all the trim that kept flopping off. They randomly re-made windows that didn't need to be remade and the re-makes were the wrong size. They damaged furniture and belongings. They bled on windows in 2021 during the height of the pandemic and DIDN'T CLEAN IT OFF!One guy brought his dog which dug up my flower bed and barked all day. They caulked weep holes closed, and then tried to say that condensation is completely normal on brand new windows and "mansplain" the concept of condensation when I said he was full of baloney. They threatened to send me to collections since I refused to pay since they didn't finish the install. Once I said go ahead and do that and I'll see you in court. Suddenly the regional whatever of whatever called me and was very apologetic of the train wreck the install had been and the poor communication that transpired and vowed he'd make it right. Yeah, he'd go six weeks without calling. They showed no urgency in addressing anything, and I wasn't paying until they addressed everything, so I didn't care. The installation manager in St Louis lies and gaslights like normal people breathe. The night locks were inaccessible on every horizontal window because they were below the track and he said that's normal. He told me that they will not pull windows and reinstall them. Months later he said that they'd pull a window and reinstall it if needs it. When I called him out on it, he said look do you want to discuss what I previously said or try to move forward? He will try to bully you over the phone, but when he is scheduled to show up and has to meet you in person, suddenly he has unexpected meetings and can't make it. His subordinates all shared stories about his lack interpersonal skills and that he's not just terrible to customers but employees as well.I used to have a positive opinion of Champion and have referred many people in the past, but holy cow has this been a stunning failure from start to eventually finished. Also, I called the phone number the reply suggested and the person I talked to didn't really know what she was supposed to do since I'm already in direct contact with the installation manager and the regional manager, and didn't know who the regional manager's boss is. So Yay for more wasted time! That's probably the one thing Champion has excelled at through this whole process, waste everyone's time.
